Lo stile di Odisseo: l'anafora negli Apologoi
The aim of my paper is to study the anaphora in the Apologoi section of the Odyssey (book IX-XII). From the examples examined (IX 29-36, X 340-342, XI 206-209, XII 189-191), the intentional use of this rethorical device as distinctive feature of Odysseus' speeches in the poem has surfaced. Since this figure of speech can be frequently found characterizing the discourses of a character who has the important role of storyteller in the Odyssey, it is therefore not difficult to associate Homer with an awareness of the use of the anaphora

Trends in mortality for traffic accidents in Italy, 1997-2001
Background: The mortality due to traffic accidents is one of the main causes of death in Mediterranean countries among young people. It is considered a cause of death avoidable by primary prevention towards several risk factors. Mortality related to traffic accidents is also an important proxy indicator of population's alcohol and occasionally drug abuse.
Methods: Mortality rates for traffic accidents are calculated in Italy between 1997-2001 for: age, regions and gender. Mortality data were obtained from the Italian Population Register (ISTAT) and based on the ICD9-CM. Rates are directly standardised to the Italian standard population.
Results: Approximately 7,000 persons every year die for traffic accidents, with more elevated risk in the males (RR=3.5). We observed a global reduction in mortality rate for traffic accidents from 21.1/100,000 to 18.6/100,000 male and 5.9/100,000 to 5.3/100000 female. The mortality rates for traffic accidents in both sexes are highest among those aged 15-34 years and they increase again in those over 70 years. Among males the highest rates were observed in Northern Italy (Piemonte 24.3/100,000, Valle D'Aosta 27.4/100,000, Veneto 27.0/100,000, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia 26.5/100,000, Emilia Romagna 29.6/100,000) and in the central part of Italy (Marche 23.2/100,000, Molise 21.1/100,000 and Sardegna 22.4/100,000); among females the higher rates were always observed in Northern Italy (Piemonte 8.1/100,000, Veneto 8.2/100,000, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia 6.8/100,000 and Emilia Romagna 9.0/100,000) followed by the central part of Italy (Toscana 6.1/100,000, Umbria 6.3/100,000 and Marche 6.7/100,000). The southern part of Italy showed the lowest mortality rates in both sexes.
Conclusions: The general mortality rate by gender was influenced by the geographical area, probably due to a different exposure to risk factors (i.e. alcohol and drugs diffusion). Alcohol-related problems prevention strategies and primary prevention of the use of drugs should be implemented and alcoholic drinks should be forbidden to teenagers and drivers
Children’s world in the medieval town of Cencelle (9th-16th centuries). An Archaeological analysis
The long-time period along which the town of Cencelle developed
and its social variety allow some interesting observations
on population composition between the Early and Late Middle
Ages. A town of Early Medieval foundation with continuity of
life until the modern age thus becomes a privileged observatory
of the relationship between burial areas and urban centres.
In particular, child burials study (from phoetus to 12 years of
age) has rised numerous insights into both their distribution
in the urban context and the social reasons determining life
and death in the city. In this case, child burials comparison
found in three different town areas and in different chronological
periods enriches the discussion. The mix of archaeological
investigation and anthropological analysis delineated
the age characteristics at death, possible family relationships
and health status of the samples analysed

Abstract
SiC/SiC ceramic matrix composites (SiCf/SiC CMCs) are regarded as the new materials for the hot-section components of aircraft gas turbine engines, since they have one-third of the density of metallic superalloys, a higher temperature capability, good mechanical strength, and excellent thermal shock resistance. However, high-temperature water-vapor-rich combustion gases can induce severe surface recession phenomena in SiC/SiC leading to component failure. For this reason, it is necessary to design protective coatings, i.e., environmental barrier coatings (EBCs), able to protect the SiC/SiC surface in combustion environments. In the present work, ytterbium monosilicate (Yb2SiO5), stable when exposed to water vapor at high temperatures, and ytterbium disilicate (Yb2Si2O7), characterized by a thermal expansion coefficient closer to that of the substrate, were selected for a multilayer EBC system. EBCs were processed using the atmospheric plasma spray (APS) technique. A set of deposition parameters were tested, varying the power of the torch, and the composition and microstructure of the deposited coatings were studied in terms of porosity, crack density, and post-deposition phase retention by performing SEM, EDS, and XRD analysis. The results allow for the definition of the influence of deposition parameters on the final properties of multilayer EBC coatings
