Modelling the Multifunctionality of Czech Agriculture. CEPS ENARPRI Working Papers No. 17, May 2006
The transformation of Czech agriculture since 1990 under the different stages of agricultural policy has resulted in the emergence of a strong, dual farm structure with a high share of leased land and profit-maximising (vs. family) farms. This working paper assesses the current situation concerning the multifunctional aspects of Czech farms. Applying a non-linear optimising model (FARMA 4), this study simulates the effects of different policy scenarios up to 2010 on the selected set of indicators of multifunctionality for eight farm categories (differentiated into three regions and by profit/income orientation). Under all the scenarios, there is a tendency towards a more extensive level of production with lower labour input, particularly by the profit-oriented farms that prevail in Czech agriculture

Czech Republic, 'Europe' and its farmers: how is agricultural interest intermediation affected by accession to the EU. European Political Economy Review Vol. 3, No. 2 (Winter 2005-2006), pp. 112-142
Studying patterns of interest intermediation in the new EU member states is an important research topic as it provides us with the opportunity to observe interest intermediation at its early stage of development. This article examines how accession to the EU affected intermediation of interest groups in CEECs. The author demonstrates it through the observation of the Czech agrarian sector and competing associations representing the dual structure of Czech farming. Particular attention is paid to the influence of the mid-term reviewed CAP. The paper concludes on different patterns of usage of ‘Europe’ by the mediators, through the inclusion in domestic or transnational networks

Measurement of national intellectual capital – application to EU countries
The aim of the article is to present both an alternative approach to measurement of intellectual capital of a country (IC) and a calculation of IC index. In order to achieve it, at first a definition of IC was adopted and a conceptual model of IC was worked out. Then, a method of operationalisation of conceptual model was elaborated, which comprised: 1. method of transforming the theoretical concept and relations into more concise ones that enabled the measurement sensu stricto, 2. selection of indicators of each component of IC, 3. adoption of appropriate method of aggregation of indicators. Finally the measurement of each component of IC and IC itself for UE countries was executed. Proposed method of IC measurement can be regarded as the extension of the proposals of Bontis (Bontis, 2004) and Andriessen and Stam (Andriessen, Stam, 2004). Thanks to the application of different approach to data aggregation the subjective decision concerning weights imposed on IC indicators made by Bontis was confirmed. Different factor loadings and resulting from them factor scores for each measurement model of components of IC and IC itself proved the indicators are not of the same importance. Although it could be useful and interesting to compare their relative importance, unfortunately it was impossible to conduct due to the lack of entire comparability of the indicators used. Strong correlation between IC index and GDP per capita indicated that there was a significant level of information carried by the IC index. First of all, it should be pointed out that IC probably explains significant part of the difference in the level of development of various countries. Secondly, it does not carry the full information about the value of the GDP in economy, so it possibly carries also information about the future development of a country.intellectual capital ; EU countries ; factor analysis ; SEM
Little Series in the Big Television - Czech Television's Online-only Content
Little Series in the Big Television: Czech Television's Online-only Content Bc. Dorota Vašíčková Abstract This master's thesis in the field of film and television studies maps the process and first results of the establishment of a new programme production line in Czech Television. The thesis applies autoethnographic methods to the authors' personal experience in order to map the changes in institutional settings resulting from the clash of public media with the realities of the internet age. The work consists of four topic-defined sections, each following the period between spring 2019 and spring 2022 when the institutional reorganization and reconstruction of the Czech Television VOD platform was taking place. The work follows on topics such as the public media values, principles of dramaturgy or the ideas of managerism, all analyzed on the background of three years of participant observation. A key role in the analysis of specific production lore is played by the possibilities granted to originally independent web-based formats by having institutional backing. This thesis aims to capture the reality of the only Czech public media television and to analyze, how an institution of the size of the Czech Television copes internally with the emergence and establishment of a new production line of its programmes.Malé pořady ve velké televizi: Online-only obsah České televize Bc. Dorota Vašíčková Abstrakt Diplomová práce z oboru filmových a televizních studií sleduje průběh a první výsledky zavádění nové produkční linie v rámci výroby pořadů v České televize. Film Studies DepartmentKatedra filmových studiíFilozofická fakultaFaculty of Art
A few remarks on Czech translation of Dorota Masłowska’s "Paw królowej"
Barbora Gregorová, translator of Dorota Masłowska’s books to Czech language, presented to Czech readers a novel very complicated to translate — "Paw królowej" (Czech title: "Královnina šavle"). If we compare the text of original with the translation, we can find many groups of problems, which are present in Czech text, among them: unexpected strong rhythmization and vulgarization of the text, incorrect use of contemporary Czech language (obecná čeština), redundancy in translation or mistakes, which are the result of wrong understanding of original text by the translator. These problems do not disqualify Czech translation, because they do not dominate inventive, daring translating ideas of Bára Gregorová
