Letter from M.J. Curran to Hagan
Holograph letter from M.(J. Curran), Rome, to Hagan [Dublin]. Reporting on the means by which they learned that Bewley dined with Randall of the British legation, and maybe also Canice [O'Gorman], not having seen any of the Irish before. Canice might invite Curran along with Bewley, but he will not go after this beginning by 'communicatio in divinis with the enemy'. It is little less than treason; thinking of '2 Peter II 22'; Seán ought to make both this and the previous treason of the envoy's chief public. Canice called about details of the centenary celebrations to coincide with the nuncio's arrival in Ireland- 'these people evidently think a nuncio is to be selected, consecrated (and) packed off for exhibition on the 23rd as if he were a sample of maccaroni'. Curran gave Cerretti all the news, also about the Dáil debate announcing the nuncio's imminent arrival. The 'consorzio' do not want the Tivoli villa in the end

Letter from M.J. Curran to Hagan
Holograph letter from [M.J. Curran], 211 (North Circular) Road (Dublin), to 'Carissimo' (Hagan). His father seems to be improving and is certainly very acute of mind. His mother suffers from extreme exhaustion. He had a bad bout of influenza himself; Dublin schools are closing because of the epidemic. Peter Monaghan is very happy with having [P.]Ryan for Wicklow with him now. Seán T. is very hopeful of the future. The Free State cabinet is further divided; Mulcahy's reputation was shaken much by the army scandals. P. Walsh's vicar-generalship came unexpectedly for most. Hoping that poor Kelly will improve; sure that [Minehan] will pull through. Hoping to return in mid-February. Giving regards (not signing off)
Moral Good, the Beatific Vision, and God’s Kingdom Writings by Germain Grisez and Peter Ryan, S.J.. Edited by Peter J. Weigel
For close to half a century, the work of Germain Grisez has been highly influential, and his writings continue to receive considerable attention from philosophers and theologians of diverse viewpoints. His co-author for this work is the professor and noted moral theologian Fr. Peter Ryan, S.J., currently the executive director of the Secretariat of Doctrine and Canonical Affairs of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). These two eminent scholars explore fundamental questions about Christian eschatology, moral theory, the purpose of human life, and the promise of human fulfilment. The authors examine Christian teaching on the final destiny of persons, investigating the meaning of God's kingdom, the hope of the beatific vision, and the centrality of moral goodness and divine grace in one's final end. This work is an ideal source for students, scholars, ministers and lay persons interested in basic questions of Christian theology, the philosophy of religion, ethical theory, and Catholic doctrin

Peter Gellhorn (1912-2004): Biography
Since 2012, the “Singing a Song in a Foreign Land” project at the Royal College of Music has been exploring the lives and work of émigré musicians from Nazi Europe in the UK and beyond. Performance projects, biographical research, research events and an extensive oral history project have underlined the importance of these musicians for British music (see www.rcm.ac.uk/singingasong).
In 2016, the Royal College of Music was awarded a substantial Cultural Engagement grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, which enabled us to engage Dr. Terence Curran.
Together with the Gellhorn family and a team of wonderfully talented student assistants he was able to pull together the wealth of information about Peter Gellhorn in this document, which will provide much needed context information for the chamber
music by Peter Gellhorn which is now available for the first time through RCM Editions

Letter from M.J. Curran to Hagan
Holograph letter from M.J. C.[urran], 211 (North Circular) Road (Dublin), to (Hagan). It has been a very hurried vacation; listing his travelling agenda from 27 June via London, Geneva, Bobbio. The cardinal and bishops agreed that an episcopal delegation be sent (to Bobbio) though will not be responsible for an Irish pilgrimage; Daniel rose to the occasion- sketching plans; Curran will help by liaising. Then promising to give his findings on the rumour associating the College with the Luzio mission for a later stage; stating already that the main 'retailers' of the story are Monsignor Dunne and Peter Finlay whose opinions on Irish matters do not count for much. Then observing that the church in general is viewed with high indignation by republican prisoners; judging the situation tragic. General elections are not fixed yet by date. Brief points of information. He will dine with the archbishop tonight. Adding that Signor Andrea will have a competitor, by arrangement between the Augustinians and Borghese. Hagan's name is on for Galway – recommending Bastible give him some Irish lessons
