Investigating the Impacts of Bin Variability on Particle Size Distributions in Multiphase Eulerian-Eulerian Simulations
In this study, a 3D steady-state Eulerian-Eulerian simulation was developed to investigate flow performance in a dilute pneumatic conveying system. The investigation focused on two main objectives: (1) assessing the influence of bin selection on solution accuracy for representing the polydisperse mixture, and (2) exploring methods to simplify the modeling of polydisperse particles in the simulation by utilizing a mean diameter derived from the mixture’s particle size distribution. The system\u27s geometry and initial boundary conditions featured a 10.6 m long, 150 mm diameter horizontal pipe with both gaseous and solid phases initially moving at 27 m/s . The steady-state simulation replicated an experimental pneumatic conveying system built by Laín and Sommerfeld, to compare and validate the proposed Eulerian-Eulerian model with experimental data. The dilute mixture used in this study mirrored Laín and Sommerfeld’s particle size distribution (PSD), consisting of particle diameter sizes of approximately 15 μm to 85 μm. By incorporating an inhomogeneous discrete population model, a set of five bin cases were conducted using Laín’s PSD in the Eulerian-Eulerian simulation. An additional monodisperse case was examined, featuring particle sizes of 40 μm which corresponded to Laín and Sommerfeld\u27s PSD mean diameter. This comparison aimed to evaluate the efficacy of representing the polydisperse mixture via bin characterization techniques, as opposed to utilizing a single mean diameter from the PSD. After validating the model, a series of four PSDs, ranging from 5 μm to 500 μm, were examined. Bin convergence studies were conducted for each PSD, as well as the viability of utilizing mean diameter expressions to represent each particle size distribution was investigated. Through this study, it was found that approximately 20 bins were necessary to accurately capture the pressure profiles of the system for most PSDs. Furthermore, simulations utilizing particle sizes based on the Sauter mean diameters demonstrated the most favorable agreement in pressure drop predictions, showcasing up to 0.086% deviations with highest bin cases. The remaining mean diameter expressions gave rise to similar system pressure drop values, with De Brouckere being the second most accurate, and volume mean, surface area mean and arithmetic mean diameters following respectively

Wilbert Shenk (1935 - ), noted missiologist and author, joined the School of Intercultural Studies faculty at Fuller Theological Seminary in 1995. As of 2019, Dr. Shenk taught as Senior Professor of Mission History and Contemporary Culture. Shenk’s areas of expertise include mission history, missiology, mission to contemporary culture. The Papers of Wilbert Shenk collection has a date range of 1967-2008. Materials include his doctoral thesis, meeting minutes, drafts of book chapters, lectures, conference presentations, and correspondence. The organizations and projects where he had an administrative role and is highlighted in the collection are American Society of Missiology, North Atlantic Missiology Project, Gospel and Our Culture Program, and Missiology of Western Culture Program

En la investigación realizada se determinó que era relevante y conveniente proponer la formalización de las productoras de queso artesanal, conociendo todos los costos de producción bajo el costeo por proceso, para mejorar la competitividad del producto en la provincia de Santa Cruz, departamento de Cajamarca, en el año 2013. El trabajo científico fue respaldado por el aporte de la teoría de la ley N° 28015 de Promoción y Formalización de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa, y teoría de Michael E. Porter sobre Ventaja Competitiva, metodológicamente la investigación que es de tipo propositivo y se usó el diseño con las mismas características. El mejorar las posibilidades de inversión, beneficios tributarios, trabajar sin interrupciones ni problemas por omitir la Ley; es mediante la opción de formalizarse bajo la Ley MYPE, y así acogerse a todos los beneficios que brinda el Estado, contribuyendo con el bienestar social de cada una de las queseras artesanales de la provincia de Santa Cruz; del mismo modo, el proceso de costeo permitirá tener un control y manejo adecuado de lo producción, detallando el procedimiento en la transformación de la materia prima, llegando a obtener como producto final el queso fresco; también nos da a conocer el costo real del producto, bajo el cumplimiento de toda la normativa actual que rigen a las empresas. Finalmente la determinación de los costos por proceso eleva a la investigación a un mayor nivel, al momento de mostrar diseños diferentes con la creación de una pequeña fábrica de producción de queso artesanal.Tesi

A copy of a statement of appreciation for Dr. Frank Fu (Fu Haojian / 傅浩堅; 傅浩坚) written by by Springfield College president Dr. Wilbert Locklin. The statement is dated June 16, 1983 and was written at the time of Dr. Fu's leaving the position of Director of the International Center at Springfield College. In this message of appreciate, Locklin, as the representative for the Springfield College family, thanks Dr. Fu for incresasing the college's world-wide recognition, establishing exchange programs with China and Venezuela, and helping visiting students "intellectually, physically, and spiritually. The copy here is unsigned. It is not known whether this is just a draft or if this was presented as it currently reads to Dr. Fu.An author of 17 textbooks and more than 100 journal articles, Frank H. Fu, G’73, DPE’75, has worked across the world in China, Canada, and the United States. Throughout his career, he has received many distinguished honors, including the Medal of Honor in 2009 by the SAR Government of Hong Kong.
Fu has held positions at institutions such as the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Springfield College, where he served as director of the International Center starting in 1978. Five years later, Fu returned to Hong Kong, but has since remained actively involved with Springfield College, participating in talks on the campus and even hosting a gathering of nearly 60 alumni in Hong Kong.
Currently, Fu is the associate vice president of Hong Kong Baptist University, where he also works as the director of the Dr. Stephen Hui Research Centre of Physical Recreation and Wellness. In addition, Fu is president of the Society of Chinese Scholars on Exercise Physiology and Fitness, chairperson of Hong Kong Coach Education Committee, a research fellow of the Research Consortium of SHAPE America, and an international fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology

Recuperación de la fertilidad y carbono orgánico total del suelo mediante la implementación del sistema de agricultura sintrópica en la región de Ucayali
Se implementó un sistema sintrópico en la región de Ucayali con el objetivo de recuperar la fertilidad y carbono orgánico del suelo, debido a la necesidad de establecer un sistema agrícola capaz de producir alimentos de manera sostenible, se estudió la implementación de dos sistemas: agricultura sintrópica y agricultura convencional de roza y quema (control), así como la condición inicial del área (antes de la implementación de los sistemas). En ambos sistemas se sembraron los cultivos de mombasa (Panicum máximum), frijol de palo (Cajanus cajan), plátano (Musa paradisiaca), yuca (Manihot esculenta), cacao (Theobroma cacao), copoazú (Theobroma grandiflorum) y huasaí (Euterpe oleracea). Las muestras de suelo fueron colectadas a 0-10 cm de profundidad para la determinación de atributos químicos, carbono orgánico total y de las sustancias húmicas (humina, ácido húmico y ácido fúlvico). En el suelo bajo agricultura sintrópica (AS) se observó un aumento en el contenido de K+ respecto al control y a la condición inicial, asimismo una reducción de Al+3 y un incremento en la saturación de bases, conductividad eléctrica y carbono orgánico de la fracción humina respecto a la condición inicial. En el sistema sintrópico, los consorcios “Plátano” y “Yuca” aportaron mayor contenido de K+ respecto al área con mombasa y a los consorcios del control. El suelo bajo mombasa evidenció incremento en el contenido de Ca+2 y carbono de la fracción ácido húmico. El sistema sintrópico promovió un incremento del contenido de nutrientes y carbono en las fracciones orgánicas de las sustancias húmicas, garantizando una mejora gradual de la calidad del suelo
