The Anzac citizen: Towards a history of the RSL
This article examines the early years of the Returned Sailors'and Soldiers'Imperial League of Australia (RSSILA, later RSL). It argues that ideas of citizenship were pivotal to the world view and activism of the RSL as it sought to advance the interests and outlooks of its members. The RSL claimed that its members had served the nation and empire to such an extent that their citizenship status was enhanced, while that of those who had not served was diminished. This philosophy provided the underpinnings and justification for the RSL's campaigns for better pension rights, employment opportunities and access to land, often at the expense of those the RSL believed were of lower civic status through a lack of war service

M. Crotty, N.J. Diamant, M. Edele, The Politics of Veteran Benefits in the Twentieth Century. A Comparative History
Substantial academic literature has shown that wartime service and veterans’ outcomes can vary widely over time and space. However, in their aspirational book, Martin Crotty, Neil J. Diamant, and Mark Edele aim to go beyond the specificities and identify general patterns in the postwar experience of demobilized soldiers. More precisely, they seek to understand where and under what circumstances veterans reached an elevated status in postwar societies. The authors synthesize the existing liter..

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods

Expectation and Covert Exogenous Spatial Attention - V5
After running the experiment preregistered in Grubb, M. A., Crotty, N., Massa, N., White, A. L., & Tellez, D. (2022, July 15). Expectation and Covert Exogenous Spatial Attention - V4. Retrieved from osf.io/cd92g, we will run a follow-up study that better enforces the response delay period. The trial will end if a response key is pressed during the delay period, and participants will receive visual feedback that they must wait for the go signal. See the Experimental Details attachment for more information
