The Orchid Flora of Roccamonfina-Foce Garigliano Regional Park (Campania, Italy
During a ten years field survey the distribution of 50 entities belonging to Orchidaceae family in the Roccamonfina-Foce Garigliano Regional Park and its surroundings has been recorded. Several entities are very widespread in the area but the highest richness occurs in chestnut orchards, underlying the important role played by this well represented habitat for the conservation of biodiversity of the whole Park
Contributo alla conoscenza floristica della Campania settentrionale: la flora del Lago delle Corree (Marzano Appio, Caserta)
Le conoscenze floristiche della Campania settentrionale sono scarse o appena informative, e risalgono fondamentalmente ad esplorazioni svolte nel XIX secolo. Uno dei biotopi visitati in passato è il Lago delle Corree, per il quale TENORE (4) e TERRACCIANO (5) citano diverse entità acquatiche interessanti. Lo studio della flora del lago delle Corree è stato condotto per accrescere il livello di conoscenza di questo settore della regione e per verificare la presenza delle entità segnalate in precedenza per questo biotopo. Il lago ed il bosco circostante sono inseriti, come area disgiunta, nel Parco Regionale Roccamonfina-foce del Garigliano per cui lo studio sulla flora vascolare dell’area è importante anche per le politiche di conservazione dell’Ente. La ricerca ha portato al censimento di 122 entità. Delle 35 segnalazioni del passato, solo 5 sono state confermate. Fra le specie non confermate, 6 non sono più state segnalate per l’intero territorio regionale in flore posteriori al 1950 (1). Si tratta di Ceratophyllum submersum L., Lindernia palustris Hartmann, Potamogeton gramineus L., Zannichellia palustris L., Najas minor All. e Cyperus michelianus (L.) Link. Le perlustrazioni del lago hanno tuttavia portato al ritrovamento di due specie nuove per la Campania: Ludwigia palustris (L.) Elliot (3), specie inserita nelle Liste Rosse della Flora d’Italia (2) e l’aliena Egeria densa Planch. che invade quasi completamente il bacino nel periodo estivo. La scomparsa delle numerose idrofite di grande interesse suggerisce di condurre un’indagine su quali siano state le trasformazioni della vegetazione del lago e del paesaggio circostante mediante l'analisi di una serie storia di foto aeree
Distribuzione di Orchis morio L. sul Vesuvio (Campania – Italia): fattori biotici ed abiotici che ne influenzano la colonizzazione
Orchis morio L., segnalata per la prima volta per il Vesuvio nel 1986, è attualmente presente in 10 stazioni, 1 delle quali nuova per l’area. Sono state studiate le comunità vegetali ed alcuni parametri ambientali di tutte stazioni di O. morio e di una stazione situata in un radura interna ad una pineta, ambiente in cui l’orchidea è assente. Le stazioni si trovano sulle lave del 1858, tranne la nuova stazione collocata sulle lave del 1895-1899. In tutte le stazioni la serie dinamica della vegetazione si trova in uno stadio intermedio. La quota non sembra influire sulla distribuzione della specie, mentre le caratteristiche ecologiche delle stazioni, esaminate utilizzando gli indici di Ellenberg, mostrano che l’orchidea preferisce gli ambienti aperti, quali le radure nelle leccete ed i prati. Poiché l’impollinazione di O. morio si basa sulla mimicria, sono state censite le entità vegetali che fioriscono contemporaneamente all’orchidea
An atlas of orchids distribution in the Campania region (Italy), a citizen science project for the most charming plant family
A database of the orchids of Campania has been built up since 2000 with data collected for academic pur-poses, research projects and, more recently, with the contributions of enthusiastic amateurs and scholars, thus becoming a real citizen science project leading to the realization of an online Atlas (http://www.fora-campana.unina.it/Orchidee/index.html). In this paper, the collection and storage of the data and the syn-thesis of them are presented. On 31 December 2016, the database accounted for 14680 records from more than 30 contributors relating to 126 taxonomic entities (species, subspecies, hybrids and a few “sensu lato”). Te bibliographic records number 3663 (24.9%) and cover a time range of four centuries (from 1616 to 2016). Amongst the 11017 feld records (observations), more than 99% are geo-referred and are “punctual” type (precision less than 100 m). Te spatial and temporal distribution of the data has been analysed and biases have been underlined. Te observations show a clear diference in the study efort year by year but always with a signifcant contribution of the citizen scientists. Te analysis of the spatial distribution shows that the observations are preferably collected in protected areas, around main roads and on the roadsides. Many cells of the grid still lack information and these should be the object of future research
Evidence of dramatic biodiversity loss in a wet biotope calls for urgent conservation strategies
The small lake ‘‘Lago di Corree’’, located in the middle Volturno plain (Campania Region, Italy), is a biotope belonging to the Roccamonfina–foce Garigliano Regional Park. It is a ‘‘habitat island’’ in a landscape matrix characterised by intensive agriculture. In the present investigation, plant biodiversity loss, assessed by means of historical and recent field floristic surveys, is related to the lake dynamics and landscape transformation inferred using remote sensing (photointerpretation). A dramatic reduction of plant diversity, and the regional-scale local extinction of several aquatic species are reported
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
