    No full text
During the excavation campaigns at Dime es-Seba/Soknopaiou Nesos (Fayyum, Egypt), between 2019 and 2022, a substantial number of textile fragments was unearthed within the ST6 building. Notably, this assemblage includes around 162 fragments of strips that exhibit consistent features in terms of size and technical characteristics. This article aims to describe the strips, proposing a preliminary interpretation of their function

A Felt Cap from Soknopaiou Nesos (El-Fayyum)

    No full text
A felt cap, probably a pileus, was found during the archaeological excavations at Dime es-Seba (Fayyum, Egypt). It was discovered inside the building ST 10, the temple kitchen used in the Roman period, at least until the mid-second century AD, where it was probably discarded. The article presents the result of the study on the artifact and some hypotheses on its function. The interpretative analysis is based on comparisons with similar items discovered in archaeological sites in Egypt. Furthermore, written and iconographic sources are examined to highlight the use and the symbolic value of the pileus in Roman culture

Architetture per bambini / Architectures for children

The design of architectures for children, especially kindergartens, involves the integration of different scales and themes to be addressed simultaneously. These places, dedicated to children from two and a half/three to six years old, to the educating community, and to the families are real “life containers”, a term that Gonçalo Byrne uses to define spaces “designed to be fully lived in their spatial, sensory and material qualities.

Genere, lavoro e cultura tecnica tra passato e futuro

    No full text
The article explores the experimental didactics promoted by the project Gender, labour and technical culture in 2019, which was conducted through a methodology intersecting public history, didactics of history and fieldwork activities. The interdisciplinary and multimedia approach has been successful in involving students, involved into museums, firms and school rooms. Among them, it is worthwhile mentioning the encounter between schools and firms, which took shape thanks to some visits paid by the students to industrial plants and service companies. The campaign against gender violence, with a specific focus on the world of work, has been included in a historical path aimed at raising awareness on women’s rights, which was developed thanks to audio-visual tools and the direct contact with witnesses. The activities have been described as far as specific goals and implementation actions are concerned, with reference to specific experience able to exemplify how the main principle of history teaching came into practice.L’articolo esplora la sperimentazione didattica promossa dal progetto Genere, lavoro e cultura tecnica nell’anno 2019, condotta attraverso una metodologia che intreccia public history, didattica della storia e attività a carattere esperienziale.

Severe Crowding Associated with Lower Canine Premature Resorption: Interceptive Treatment with Clear Aligners—A Pilot Study

    No full text
Background: Early mixed dentition represents a critical phase since crowding conditions can occur. The interceptive resolution of dental crowding allows favorable arch and occlusal development. The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate dentoalveolar changes of clear aligner treatment planned to manage lower incisor crowding, loss of arch length, and midline deviation in early mixed dentition. Methods: A total of 13 patients (7 females, 6 males, 9.4 ± 1.2 age) treated with clear aligners were selected. Arch dimensions and incisor inclinations were evaluated before (T0) and at the end of interceptive treatment (T1). A paired t-test was chosen to compare T1–T0 changes. The level of significance was set at 5%. Results: The greatest significant increase in mandibular width was observed at the level of the first deciduous molars (+2.44 ± 1.4 mm), followed by the second permanent molars (+2.16 ± 1.4 mm). Lower arch length and arch depth showed a statistically relevant increase (2 ± 0.6 mm and 4.5 ± 1.6 mm, respectively). The mean lower dental midline changes were statistically significant (1.42 ± 0.73 mm). Conclusions: Early treatment with clear aligners, including the combination of transversal arch development, maintenance of leeway space, and guidance of eruption, represents a valid treatment strategy in early mixed dentition to manage arch crowding and occlusion development

"The love that made hell, paradise." Ouida re-writing the Paolo and Francesca theme in Held in Bondage
