immediate e stimoli contestuali potenti. Intelligenza Artificiale, Internet
of Things e realtà aumentata trasformano ogni interazione in un impulso
To date, the area of the gulf of Gaeta has never been involved in systematic Medieval Archaeology research. Very little is known, for instance, about the late Medieval material culture of this region, especially concerning pottery for everyday use. The aim of this paper is to provide a first description of the pottery found in and around the casale located at le Céscole in Itri (Lazio, Italy). This material consists mostly of amphorae and other painted wares. In the first part of the paper, we provide information about the regional historical context for the XIV century. The second part includes a detailed study of the pottery found in the casale and aims to give a first interpretation of it. The pottery could be an important attestation of the late Medieval production of the coast between Lazio and Campania and the first of this kind ever to be reported from Itri. The casale at le Céscole, together with its pottery, represents a new context from which, through further investigations, we can hope to extrapolate more archaeological data in the near future. These data will surely aid us in reconstructing the rural landscape orbiting around the Castrum Ytri between the XIV and the XV century
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
A parametric analysis of discrete Hamiltonian functional maps
In this paper we develop an in-depth theoretical investigation of the discrete Hamiltonian eigenbasis, which remains quite unexplored in the geometry processing community. This choice is supported by the fact that Dirichlet eigenfunctions can be equivalently computed by defining a Hamiltonian operator, whose potential energy and localization region can be controlled with ease. We vary with continuity the potential energy and study the relationship between the Dirichlet Laplacian and the Hamiltonian eigenbases with the functional map formalism. We develop a global analysis to capture the asymptotic behavior of the eigenpairs. We then focus on their local interactions, namely the veering patterns that arise between proximal eigenvalues. Armed with this knowledge, we are able to track the eigenfunctions in all possible configurations, shedding light on the nature of the functional maps. We exploit the Hamiltonian-Dirichlet connection in a partial shape matching problem, obtaining state of the art results, and provide directions where our theoretical findings could be applied in future research

Classifying Me Softly: A Novel Graph Neural Network Based on Features Soft-Alignment
Graph neural networks are increasingly becoming the framework of choice for graph-based machine learning. In this paper we propose a new graph neural network architecture based on the soft-alignment of the graph node features against sets of learned points. In each layer of the network the input node features are transformed by computing their similarity with respect to a set of learned features. The similarity information is then propagated to other nodes in the network, effectively creating a message passing-like mechanism where each node of the graph individually learns what is the optimal message to pass to its neighbours. We perform an ablation study to evaluate the performance of the network under different choices of its hyper-parameters. Finally, we test our model on standard graph-classification benchmarks and we find that it outperforms widely used alternative approaches, including both graph kernels and graph neural networks
