Finding Center: Integral Psychology and the Path of the Heart
Finding Center: Integral Psychology and the Path of the HeartIntegral psychology melds western psychology with Sri Aurobindo’s Integral Yoga. The key to the evolution of consciousness lies in the heart, and a psycho-spiritual approach is needed to unlock its mystery
Psychotherapy and Spirit: Theory and Practice in Transpersonal Psychotherapy
This volume brings together the major developments in the field of transpersonal psychotherapy. It articulates the unifying theoretical framework and explores the centrality of consciousness for both theory and practice. It reviews the major transpersonal models of psychotherapy, including Wilber, Jung, Washburn, Grof, Ali, and existential, psychoanalytic, and body-centered approaches, and assesses the strengths and limitations of each. The book also examines the key clinical issues in the field. It concludes by synthesizing some of the overarching principles of transpersonal psychotherapy as they apply to actual clinical work.https://digitalcommons.ciis.edu/facultypublications/1003/thumbnail.jp
Healing and the Evolution of Consciousness
What is the relationship between healing and the evolution of consciousness that is so central in Sri Aurobindo’s integral philosophy? This talk explores how disease and psychological wounding are both key obstacles as well as opportunities or launching pads for the growth of consciousness. What is healing? What does it involve? What parts of us must it include? Does it always result in “cure”? This talk examines healing depression as way to understand the relationships between healing, psychological growth and spiritual evolution in integral yoga
Integral Yoga, Neuroscience and Neurogenesis
Integral yoga provides a widely inclusive understanding of consciousness that helps makes sense of many of the findings of neuroscience. This talk uses recent neuroscience findings on neurogenesis as a frame to show how the practice of integral yoga can be a path to enhancing brain function and cognitive abilities
The Heart of Healing in Integral Psychotherapy
The Heart of Healing in Integral PsychotherapyThe heart has a special significance in integral yoga and integral psychology as both the seat of the evolving soul and the center of our emotional being. Opening the heart at every level – integrally – is key to the evolutionary process as envisioned by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, and an integral psychotherapy maps different methods of working through and healing the various levels of the heart
Integral Psychology: Yoga, Growth, and Opening the Heart
Integral Psychology connects Eastern and Western approaches to psychology and healing. Psychology in the East has focused on our inner being and spiritual foundation of the psyche. Psychology in the West has focused on our outer being and the wounding of the body-heart-mind and self. Each requires the other to complete it, and in bringing them together an integral view of psychology comes into view. The classical Indian yogas are used as a way to see psychotherapy: psychotherapy as behavior change or karma yoga; psychotherapy as mindfulness practice or jnana yoga; psychotherapy as opening the heart or bhakti yoga. Finally, an integral approach is suggested that synthesizes traditional Western and Eastern practices for healing, growth, and transformation.https://digitalcommons.ciis.edu/facultypublications/1004/thumbnail.jp
