Vers une analyse à l'échelle du système de la sécurité des systèmes embarqués
This thesis is dedicated to the improvement of dynamic analysis techniques allowing the verification of software designed for embedded systems, commonly called firmware. It is clear that the increasing pervasiveness and connectivity of embedded devices significantly increase their exposure to attacks. The consequences of a security issue can be dramatic not least in the economical field, but on the technical stage as well. Especially because of the difficulty to patch some devices. For instance, offline devices or code stored in a mask rom which are read only memory programmed during the chip fabrication. For all these reasons, it is important to thoughtfully test firmware program before the manufacturing process. This thesis presents analysis methods for system-wide testing of security and hardware components. In particular, we propose three impvrovements for partial emulation. First, Inception a dynamic analysis tool to test the security of firmware programs even when mixing different level of semantic (e.g., C/C++ mixed with assembly). Second, Steroids a high performance USB 3.0 probe that aims at minimizing the latency between the analyzer and the real device. Finally, HardSnap a hardware snapshotting method that offers higher visibility and control over the hardware peripherals. It enables testing concurently different execution paths without corrupting the hardware peripherals state.Cette thèse se consacre à l'amélioration des techniques d'analyse dynamiques permettant la vérification de logiciels conçus pour des systèmes embarqués, couramment appelé micrologiciel. Au vu de l'augmentation significative de la connectivité des appareils électroniques, les préoccupations concernant leur sécurité s'intensifient. Les conséquences d'une faille de sécurité sur ces appareils peuvent impliquer des répercussions économiques non négligeables et des difficultés techniques importantes pour appliquer un correctif. C’est le cas notamment des amorceurs de code qui sont généralement stockés sur des mémoires mortes et intégrées dans les couches physiques qui constituent le microcontrôleur. Par conséquent, l’analyse de code source spécifique aux systèmes embarqués pendant la phase de production des micro-contrôleurs est cruciale. Cette thèse présente des techniques d'analyse afin de tester la sécurité de composants logiciel et matériel à l'échelle du système. En particulier, nous nous intéressons aux techniques de test basé sur l'émulation partielle dont nous améliorons les capacités avec trois nouvelles approches. Premièrement, Inception un outil d’analyse dynamique permettant d’appliquer des méthodes de tests exhaustifs (exécution symbolique) sur le code source de micrologiciel même lorsque ce dernier dépend de code plus bas niveau (exemple, code binaire ou assembleur). Deuxièmement, une sonde haute performance basé sur le protocol USB 3.0 afin de réduire la latence lors des communications entre l'outil d'analyse et le vrai matériel. Troisièmement, HardSnap une méthode permettant de générer des instantanés des périphériques matériel afin d'augmenter le contrôle et la visibilité lors de l'exécution symbolique. Feminist Philosophical Toys : Playful Companions and Live Theorization
What are the matters of philosophy? How do they shape how philosophy is practiced, what kinds of knowledge it produces, and who counts as a philosopher? The dominant matters of Western philosophy, or its epistemic companions, are books and journal articles even when dialogic and oral traditions are acknowledged or referenced. In this paper, we argue that alternatives would be necessary if philosophy were to be a more capacious and welcoming discipline. We introduce Feminist Philosophical Toys as one such alternative that challenges what counts as serious philosophy by being seriously playful. The toys foreground the oral and the dialogic while reflecting on and committing to engaging materiality, record-keeping, and record-making. In doing so, the toys challenge the dominant form of philosophy and its mechanics of knowledge-making as they offer an alternative way of doing philosophy that can be transformative for the next generation of feminist scholarship. Designing Pandemic Antifragility for Multimodal Transport Hubs
The outbreak of COVID-19 demonstrated the fragility of the transportation system and its Multimodal Transport Hubs (MTHs). Global travel reduced dramatically, leading to an existential crisis in MTHs. To cope with the pandemic, MTHs implemented multiple resilient measurements including social distancing, rapid testing regimes, and infrared cameras. Although these measurements are valuable tools, this research advocates to transcend resilient measures and move towards antifragility by applying a systems thinking approach. As Nassim Taleb (2013) defines: “Antifragility is beyond resilience or robustness. Accounting for asymmetry between strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in outranking methods
Purpose
The purpose of this paper consists in discussing and modeling the asymmetrical nature of evaluation criteria that are notably relevant in strategic planning, project portfolio management and complex systems management.
Design/methodology/approach
The author guarantees the theoretic validity of the proposed approach, by showing that it possesses desirable properties such as monotonicity. This allows for a reduced implementation time and thus a real-time use of the model.
Findings
The author conducts a comparative study with two other multicriteria decision aid models on a set of real data regarding a power plant sitting problem and highlights some of the limitations of previous models compared to the proposed approach.
Originality/value
This paper describes a novel multicriteria decision aid model, entitled SPADE (which is an acronym for Structuring Preferences to Aid DEcisions). It aims at consolidating SWOT analysis with sound decision-theoretic techniques, and making use of its results to support decision-making.

Państwowość zachodnioukraińska 1918–1923 oraz teorie losowości XX – początku XXI wieku
In the article author focused on the understudied and disputable aspects of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1914–1923, mainly on how Western Ukrainian statehood was established and developed in 1918–1919, as well as some specific issues of the political history of the West-Ukrainian People’s Republic (WUPR) in 1918–1923. By applying the theories of randomness introduced by scientists in the 20th – early 21st centuries (generally, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Michele Wucker, Peter Grassberger, Edward Lorenz), the author puts forward an approach to the events of the early 20th century Ukrainian history, which is completely different to what has been suggested before, in its “Galician” form. W artykule autor skupił się na niedostatecznie zbadanych i dyskusyjnych aspektach rewolucji ukraińskiej w latach 1914–1923, głównie na sposobie tworzenia i rozwoju zachodnio-ukraińskiej państwowości w latach 1918–1919, a także na niektórych specyficznych zagadnieniach historii politycznej Zachodnio-Ukraińskiej Republiki Ludowej (ZURL) w latach 1918–1923. Stosując teorie losowości wprowadzone przez naukowców na przełomie XX i XXI w.
