The law and ethics of restitution /
Dagan's 2004 book provides a dynamic account of the American law of restitution. The book reviews the existing doctrine, using an ethical perspective to expose and examine critically the normative underpinnings of the core categories of restitution. Dagan also discusses some of the most controversial issues in the area, such as cohabitation, improper tax payments, and the role of constructive trusts as trumps in bankruptcy. He further tackles the recent restitution claims of slave laborers (or their descendants) against corporations that benefited from their enslavements, and of governmental bodies against injurious industries. Dagan argues that the concept of unjust enrichment is not an independent reason for restitution but, rather, serves as a loose framework. By integrating doctrinal and ethical analyses of restitution across the spectrum of restitution contexts, the author offers significant and provocative insights on existing law as well as possible reforms

Foreword from Faculty Advisor
The latest edition of The Medicine Forum celebrates our community’s efforts toward scholarly inquiry and creativity. Our current editors have approached this project with a true passion. Throughout the academic year, it has been my pleasure to work with Amman, Suraj, Mez, and Alex, not only on this project, but also on the medical wards. They have applied the same thoughtfulness and joy to editing this journal that they do to the care of patients. I am in awe of their efforts.
As a department, we are a productive group of writers, thinkers, scientists, and artists. So much of our productivity is sent out into the larger community, academic or otherwise, and then keeps us connected with a larger world. To my mind, what makes The Medicine Forum special is that it serves as an outlet that reminds us to stay connected to our local community. There is something powerful about opening a journal and seeing names that belong to many faces we pass in the Jefferson Hall every day.
For The Medicine Forum, we owe our gratitude to a number of people who have helped bring this issue to fruition. We thank the Department of Medicine leadership for their guidance and support. We want to thank all of the residents, students, and faculty who submitted their work. The diversity and quality of their work speaks to the talents of our community. We express our gratitude to Tim Flanagan for his design and editorial support. Finally, we thank the readers of this journal for turning the page and becoming a participant in this community
Foreword from Faculty Advisor
We are honored to present this latest edition of The Medicine Forum. This platform is in its twenty-sixth year serving as an outlet for our medical community’s scholarly and creative efforts. This year, it has been my pleasure to work with Marc, Marina, Virginia, and Devin on this project. I have not only worked with them on the Forum, but also on the wards. It is impressive to see the same excellence they bring to patient care applied to this academic publication.
This journal serves as a showcase for the efforts of our Department. It is always exciting to see the names of colleagues we see every day caring for patients all collected in this single publication. The Medicine Forum serves as a reminder of the depth of talent possessed by the physician-scientists and artists with whom we share our day-to-day work-lives.
We owe our gratitude to a number of people who have helped bring this issue to publication. We thank the Department of Medicine leadership for their guidance and support. We want to thank all of the residents, students, and faculty who submitted their work. We express our gratitude to Timothy Flanagan for his design and editorial support. Finally, we thank the readers of this journal for turning the page and becoming participants in this community
