Professionalizing health promotion? Some reflections from the European context. [¿Profesionalizar la promoción de la salud? Algunas reflexiones desde el contexto europeo]
Professionalising health promotion? Reflections from the European context P. Contu Globalisation has not only had economic and financial repercussions, but has also impacted the social, cultural and education spheres. One of these effects is the development of processes to achieve accreditation of academic programmes, and the regulation of certified professionals in various fields including public health and health promotion. The work presented here reflects on challenges the health promotion field faces in the European continent. These efforts present data on undergraduate training in health promotion as perceived by autonomous professionals and on the definition of core competencies in health promotion that would be integrated in curricula for training distinct types of workforces. Finally, we present the CompHP project that endeavoured to contribute to the strengthening of an identity for European professionals who work in health promotion, and its recognition in the labour market. The 26 articles contained in the Volume written by specialists from all over Europe (Russia, Finland, Poland, England, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands) deal with the following subjects: Islam, with contributions by scholars such as Roswitha Badry, Dimitry Frolov, Wilfred Madelung and Giuseppe Scatolin; History, Society and Archaeology, with papers by among others, Giuseppe Contu, Jaakko Hämeen-Anttila, Paulina Lewicka and Bernadette Martel-Thoumian; Literature, with papers by, inter alios, Ewa Machut-Mendecka, Barbara Michalak-Pikulska, Arie Schippers, and Krystyna Skarzynska-Bochenska; and Arabic Language and Linguistics, with articles by Lale Behzadi, Michael G. Carter, and Ali Kalati.
The Central Theme focuses on how the characteristics of Islam and Arabism are to be found in the periphery of the Arabic and Islamic world in relation to its Center and the interchanges implied by the geographic distance between center and periphery. The University of Sassari was the right ambiance for such a Congress since there was in the past some Arabic presence in Sardinia, which island was itself situated at the borders of the Islamic and Arabic Mediterranean
Evolving ILL: Beyond CONTU to a Modern Interlibrary Loan
CONTU was developed over 40 years ago and has never been updated. The “rule of five” is based on outdated publication data and cost data. Yet, many of our Interlibrary Loan practices are based on these old guidelines and integrated into our systems. As library budgets were slashed last year, we must responsibly use our limited resources and put our budgets towards new content, not unnecessary copyright fees. Staying within the law is critical, but CONTU is not the law. The panel discussion will review the law around interlibrary loan - the Copyright Act Section 108, which grants specific rights for interlibrary loan, and Section 107, fair use. Then, we will look at the history of CONTU. Additionally, we will discuss current efforts to move beyond CONTU in US academic libraries. Finally, we will discuss what would be needed for Georgia libraries to move beyond using CONTU. For example, legal or policy documents for administration, new workflows or decision trees, or shared agreements with consortial partners. We hope to engage the audience to explore this question.</p

Some remarks on Notholepiota sardoa Padovan et Contu. A recent collection of Notholepiota sardoa is described, with drawings of microscopic characters and colour photographs of the habitus. The species is compared with the published descriptions of the type species of the genus: N. areolata (G. Cunn.) Horak. This leads to the conclusion that the material examined does not belong to Notholepiota but to Lepiota. As a consequence, the new combination Lepiota sardoa (Padovan et Contu) Vila et Castellón is here proposed.</p
