Electronic and optical properties of topological semimetal Cd3As2

Using ab initio density functional theory the band structure and the dielectric function of a bct Cd3As2 crystal are calculated. We find a Dirac semimetal with two Dirac nodes k± near the Γ point on the tetragonal axis. The bands near the Fermi level exhibit a linear behavior. The resulting Dirac cones are anisotropic and the electron-hole symmetry is destroyed along the tetragonal axis. Along this axis the symmetry-protected band linearity only exists in a small energy interval. The Dirac cones seemingly found by ARPES in a wider energy range are interpreted in terms of pseudo-linear bands. The behavior as 3D graphene-like material is traced back to As p orbital pointing to Cd vacancies, in directions which vary throughout the unit cell. Because of the Dirac nodes the dielectric functions (imaginary part) show a plateau for vanishing frequencies whose finite value is proportional to the Sommerfeld fine structure constant but varies with the light polarization. The consequences of the anisotropy of the Dirac cones are highlighted for the polarization dependence of the infrared optical conductivity

Berkeley Nov 10th My dear Mrs. Muir; The box of beautiful grapes arrived in fine condition, and I can assure you we have all enjoyed them, and appreciate your thoughtfulness in sending them. Probably you have enjoyed fruit fresh from vine and tree so long that you have forgotten what a vast difference there is between that and store fruit! Please remember me kindly to Helen, I hope she has entirely recovered from her severe illness. Such a siege as she passed through however takes a long time to rally from. Again thanking you I am very sincerely yours Mary H. Le Conte 2301 Piedmont Ave

[Transcription begins] U. S. ARMY AIR FORCES 3 April 1945 Bryant Service Club, I wish to acknowledge receipt of your wonderful Easter package. I certainly did appreciate and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Army Life is still about the same as ever for me. My job deals with appropriation of funds and it is quite interesting. It is surprising how the accounting knowledge I picked up at Bryant helps me now. Most of my spare time is spent in playing softball. I am on the base softball team and this certainly takes most of my leisure hours. It is quite warm down here now and I have acquired a good tan by going down to the beach. I wish to thank you again for the package you sent me. Bryant certainly never forgets their graduates. Sincerely yours, Carlo Conte Class of ‘40 [Transcription ends

EFFETTI STIMOLANTI DA DANTROLENE SODICO SU ORGANI E MUSCOLATURA LISCIA.

The effects of sodium dantrolene (DaNa), a calcium antagonist specifically acting on skeletal muscles, were evaluated on the spontaneous contractions of ileum, uterine horns and longitudinal strips of esophageal smooth muscle, in vitro. DaNa (1.81 to 15 μg/ml) caused a reversible dose-related increase of the spontaneous contractions of the three organs. DaNa (15 μg/ml) caused a 60±3% increase of the ileum spontaneous tone, and caused a 57±3% increase in the frequency of the spontaneous contractions of the uterus. The stimulatory effect of DaNa on the uterine musculature was not antagonized by atropine, methysergide or indomethacin. In the esophagus the maximum increase of the spontaneous tone and contractions (65±2%) was due to 3.7 μg/ml perfusion of DaNa. This effect was antagonized by nifedipin
