Effect of condit soil improver on growth, yield and leaf mineral content of two summer pear cvs. with interstocks
The study involving 2 pear cultivars was conducted in 2006–2016. ‘Radana’ and ‘Clapp’s Favourite’ were planted in the spring 2006 in the Experimental Station next to Wrocław (south-western Poland) on Quince S1 and Caucasian pear seedlings with 2 interstocks – ‘Doyenne du Comice’ and ‘Pyrodwarf’. An annual dose of 3 tonnes per hectare of Condit Basic bio-fertilizer was applied onto the tree row soil surface at the beginning of March 2012, i.e., starting from the 7th year after the planting. The study objective was to evaluate effect of Condit preparation on summer pear tree cultivars which are not compatible with Quince, and to assess interstock suitability in their context. The yields obtained in the first eleven years following tree planting were the most abundant for ‘Radana’ on Caucasian pear and on Quince with ‘Doyenne du Comice’ interstock. When applied for 5 years, Condit increased the leaf surface area, however a significant difference was exhibited only by ‘Radana’ on the Caucasian pear. Marker rescue mapping of the combined Condit/Dales collection of temperature-sensitive vaccinia virus mutants
AbstractComplementation analysis of the combined Condit/Dales collection of vaccinia virus temperature-sensitive mutants has been reported (Lackner, C.A., D'Costa, S.M., Buck, C., Condit, R.C., 2003. Complementation analysis of the Dales collection of vaccinia virus temperature-sensitive mutants. Virology 305, 240–259), however not all complementation groups have previously been assigned to single genes on the viral genome. We have used marker rescue to map at least one representative of each complementation group to a unique viral gene. The final combined collection contains 124 temperature-sensitive mutants affecting 38 viral genes, plus five double mutants

Soil chemistry and dry season intensity, Panama Canal Area
Woody plant species were surveyed at 72 locations near the Panama Canal, spanning geological formations and a rainfall gradient. Soil chemistry, and dry season intensity at all the sites. Response of tree species to environmental gradients was estimated. The soil and climate data are provided in a single table here. Tree distributions are published at Condit et al. (2013a), including a data archive in Condit et al. (2013b). Note that the PNAS article incorrectly cites the data archive; the link below is correct.Data are in a tab-delimited ascii file. There are 77 locations with latitude, longitude, and elevation given. See README file.

Nowe spojrzenie na planowanie architektury mieszkaniowej w afryce subsaharyjskiej
The author shares his reflections on state of art in housing and urban planning, deficiencies, expectations and possibilities in the Sahel region of Africa. He notices, that the housing problem in Africa is one of the challenges, which should be solved in order to recover life dignity of African people and secure their rights to traditional family life in acceptable conditions. The paper describes the studies on the typical dispersed urban structures and the need to foster this type of settlement structure and proposals of introduction of new on light steel frame housing system in the area of Sahel, combining the traditional way of building houses with modern technology. The particularly analysed case, is the housing problem in the Republic of Chad. The author presents the basic discussion on this topic and his architectural proposals. Unfortunately, the gap between the needs and the financial feasibility of housing construction in this area, makes this project already at the starting point extremely difficult to be realized without external subventions.Problem mieszkaniowy w Afryce jest jednym z wyzwań, które należy rozwiązać, aby Afrykanie mogli odzyskać godność życiową i zabezpieczyć swoje prawa do tradycyjnego życia rodzinnego w akceptowalnych warunkach. W artykule opisano badania nad typowymi rozproszonymi strukturami miejskimi i potrzebą wspierania tego typu struktur osadniczych oraz propozycji wprowadzenia nowego systemu konstrukcji domów, opartym na lekkim szkielecie stalowym, łączącym tradycyjny sposób budowania domów z nowoczesną technologią. Przypadkiem szczególnie analizowanym jest problem mieszkaniowy w Republice Czadu. Autor przedstawia podstawową dyskusję na ten temat i swoje propozycje architektoniczne. Niestety luka między potrzebami mieszkaniowymi w Czadzie a finansową wykonalnością budownictwa mieszkaniowego w tym obszarze sprawia, że projekt ten, już w punkcie wyjścia, jest niezwykle trudny do realizacji bez uzyskania zewnętrznych dotacji
