Jaime Cortesão: writings and geographies of exile
On the 10th and 11th of May 2018, the International Symposium Jaime Cortesão: writings and geographies of exile took place at the National Library of Portugal, in Lisbon.
Two professors at the University of Puerto Rico‘s Laboratory High School, one a teacher of Mathematics, the other one of History, offer detailed descriptions of how their use of digital technologies (graphing calculators and a class wiki, respectively), have facilitated their practice of constructivist pedagogy. They offer a brief theoretical account of how digital technologies complement this pedagogy, but conclude that the evaluation of particular technologies needs to be the object of a cost-benefit analysis, and that teachers are best qualified to make this judgment.

Queen of the ring wrestling drawings by Jaime Hernandez 1980 - 2020
"For the past 40 years, acclaimed graphic novelist and Love and Rockets co-creator Jaime Hernandez has been privately amassing a body of work that no one else has ever seen--until now. Set in the heyday of 1960s and '70s women's wrestling and lucha libre, Queen of the Ring presents selected pieces from this secret archive, lovingly worked over using materials and processes outside of the scope of his beloved comics work. Threaded with commentary by the author himself, Hernandez's pin-ups, action shots, imagined magazine covers, and sketches present a fictional history of an iconic sport and culture, and an unprecedented look into the artist's creative process"--Back cove

Improving our understanding of demographic monitoring: avian breeding productivity in a tropical dry forest
The ratio of juvenile to adult birds in mist‐net samples is used to monitor avian productivity, but whether it is a “true” estimate of per capita productivity or an index proportional to productivity depends on whether capture probability is not age‐dependent (true estimate) or age difference in capture probability is consistent among years (index). Better understanding of the processes affecting age‐ and year‐specific capture probabilities is needed to advance the application of constant‐effort mist‐netting for monitoring and conservation, particularly in many tropical settings where capture rates are often low. We ranked members of the avian community by capture frequencies, determined if temporary emigration influenced the availability of birds to be captured, and assessed the distribution of birds relative to mist‐nets and the parity between capture‐based productivity estimates and number of fledglings in nest plots in a tropical dry forest in Puerto Rico in 2009 and 2010. Few captures characterized the community of 25 resident species and, when estimable, capture probabilities were low, particularly for juveniles (typically This article is published as Kornegay, M. Retorno a Muster. Un diálogo con Jaime Cerrolaza
This article approaches Jaime Cerrolaza's personality as a teacher. A specific example of Cerrolaza's research and teaching methods is used for this purpose: the study of the works of the Austrian author Wilhelm Muster. This article analyzes the state of the art with regard to research on this author as well as Cerrolaza's contribution to the introduction of Muster's works in Spain.
Abstract. In the present academic work was used the Semiquantitative Stability Evaluation System for Homogeneous Zones (SSE) as a heuristic analysis tool in the GIS-based landslide hazard evaluation and zonation for Cartagena city (Colombia), from the calibration of four (4) defined trigger parameters (Climate, Erosion, Seismic Hazard and Antropic Factor) and using primary information generated by Ingeominas (2001) and supplementary information of six (6) critical sites of Cartagena, in the generation of a "current" mapping of landslide's relative hazard of the city. This mapping showed that about 20.9% of the Cartagena's slope zone is affected by high level of landslide hazard, in this case the Popa hill is the sector of the city more susceptible to slope instability.Maestrí
