Online collaborative learning starts with the global collaborator mindset

    No full text
Educators who are collaborating globally identify the potential for student-to-student global interactions leading to deeper understanding of how the world works. This qualitative study explored the phenomenon of online global collaboration through interviews with geographically dispersed K-12 educators. The aim was to understand better online global collaborative practices: how K-12 educators leveraged personal beliefs and pedagogies within the school context; and the subsequent impact on educator pedagogical practices. Findings reveal how educators developed a Global Collaborator Mindset (GCM), identified as having attributes of openness, connection, autonomy and innovation. A model of the GCM is presented, along with implications and limitations

Těžiště zájmu poté leží v představení co nejpodrobnějšího výkladu stávající platné úpravy, a to z hlediska trestního práva procesního i hmotného. However, the author's aim is to present a critical picture of this legal institute in all its complexity. The beginning of the thesis is therefore devoted to the historical development of the given concept both globally and subsequently also within the Czech Republic. At the same time, the author attempts to define the relationship between "crown witness" and "accomplice witness" ("collaborator of justice") as these are closely related terms. A brief comparison of the most relevant foreign legislations of both types of legal culture is also included. Furthermore, the thesis superficially touches the criminological aspects of organized crime and the characteristics of its members. It summarizes the capture of the mentioned issue in the Czech legal system and describes the role of the collaborator of justice in the fight against such threat as well as in comparison with other legal means and institutes. The centre of interest then lies in the presentation of the most detailed interpretation of the existing legislation in force both from the point of view of procedural and substantive criminal law. In addition, the author answers predetermined questions aimed at...Katedra trestního právaDepartment of Criminal LawPrávnická fakultaFaculty of La

The university lawyer as collaborator and facilitator: A study in work-integrated learning

    No full text
This article explores the roles of the university lawyer as collaborator and facilitator, based on a case study of risk management by Australian university lawyers in work-integrated learning (WIL) programs. The case study supports a redefinition of role to incorporate not only what university lawyers do (practices), but how they do it (methods) and why they do what they do (strategies). Collaboration is conceptualized as a risk management method of university lawyers, and facilitation as a risk management strategy. Collectively, the risk management practices, methods, and strategies of university lawyers represent their risk management framework. In particular, the case study findings suggest that articulating the roles of collaborator and facilitator may quash misconceptions of university lawyers, and thereby have the potential to improve stakeholder relationships and legal service delivery on the college or university campus. No Full Tex

Toward collaborator selection and determination of data ownership and publication authorship in research collaborations

    No full text
This study examined factors that might affect researchers' willingness to collaborate with a specific researcher and the priorities given to those factors. In addition, it investigated how researchers determined the ownership of collaborative project data and how they determined the order of authorship on collaborative publications in condensed matter physics. In general, researchers rated their intrinsic motivations the highest, such as the quality of ideas a potential collaborator might have and their satisfaction with a past collaboration, followed by their extrinsic motivations, such as the complementary knowledge, skills, or resources the collaborator could provide. In addition, researchers who had a greater number of collaborative projects and researchers who had served as a project PI or co-PI valued the deep-level, personality-related characteristics of a collaborator higher than did those who had not. Younger researchers were more risk averse and more concerned with a collaborator's reputation and the possible cost of a collaboration decision. Additionally, younger researchers indicated more often than older researchers that they did not know whether their project teams followed any rules or norms or engaged in negotiation to determine the order of authorship on collaborative publications

Research Collaborator, how do i find thee?

    No full text
Expert finding systems assist researchers to automatically find a particular research collaborator. The problem of these systems is that they identify experts based on content of documents linked to the experts (system–centered perspective) and neglect the human interaction perspective, which includes the factors that affect collaborator selection decision in real life. This study examined factors that might affect researchers\u27 decision to collaborate with a particular research collaborator in the university context. Moreover, it investigated how expert finding systems designers can integrate these factors with current expert finding systems in the university context to retrieve the suitable research collaborator. The contribution of this study is the proposed model of collaborator selection criteria which can be integrated with current expert finding systems to improve their effectiveness. The model is based on scientific and technical human capital (STHC) model and social capital theory (SCT)
