Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Run control and resource management in the D0 run time system
The D-Zero run time system consists of a number of distinct subsystems which perform the basic functions of triggering, digitizing, data gathering, and data recording. The allocation and high level coordination of the elements in this system are accomplished by a server task which maintains and consults a detailed model of the system. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

D0 triggering and data acquisition
The trigger for D0 is a multi-tier system. Within the 3.5 {mu}sec bunch crossing interval, custom electronics select interesting event candidates based on electromagnetic and hadronic energy deposits in the calorimeter and on indications of tracks in the muon system. Subsequent hardware decisions use refined calculations of electron and muon characteristics. The highest level trigger occurs in one element of a farm of microprocessors, where fully developed algorithms for electrons, muons, jets, or missing E{sub t} are executed. This highest level trigger also provides the assembly of the event into its final data structure. Performance of this trigger and data acquisition system in collider operation is described

Measurement of the WW{gamma}, ZZ{gamma} and Z{gamma}{gamma} couplings at the Fermilab Tevatron
The processes p{bar p} {yields} {ell}{bar {nu}}{sub {gamma}} + X and p{bar p} {yields} {ell}{sup +}{ell}{sup {minus}}{sub {gamma}} + X ({ell} = e, {mu}) have been observed using the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at {radical}s = 1.8 TeV. The observed signals in the electron and muon decay channels are used as a probe of the WW{gamma}, ZZ{gamma}, and Z{gamma}{gamma} vertex couplings. By comparing the event rates and shapes of the photon ET distributions with theoretical predictions, 95% confidence limits are obtained on the WW{gamma}, ZZ{gamma}, and Z{gamma}{gamma} vertex coupling parameters

Operation of the D0 uranium liquid-argon calorimeter system
The DO calorimeter consists of three separate cryostats containing uranium modules in liquid argon. This odorimeter has transverse segmentation of 0.1 {times} 0.1 in {eta} {times} 0 and consists of eight or nine longitudinal readout segments. The coverage in {eta} extends to 4. As a result of the large coverage and fine segmentation there are 50,000 channels of electronics. After a brief description of the electronics, stability and noise aspects will be investigated. Results of the liquid-argon purity studies will be discssed. The backgrounds in the calorimeter due to the Fermilab main ring will also be examined

Search for the top quark in the electron-electron and electron-muon channels at D0
We discuss preliminary results of a search for top quarks using their decays in two di-lepton, with the D0 detector at Fermilab. The present analysis has been optimized to search for a top with mass near 100{sub c{sup 2}}/{sup GeV}, consistent with published limits. In the event sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 15pb{sup {minus}1} we observe two events passing all selection cuts. The number of events observed is consistent with the expected number of background events. Consequently, we do not claim the observation of a top decay in the present event sample. We note however, that the kinematic properties of one of the events appear to be far removed from known backgrounds. We discuss the event and show results of the mass likelihood analysis when applied to this event

The D0 muon system and early results on its performance
The D0 detector is a large, general-purpose detector designed to take full advantage of the 2 TeV energy of the Fermilab collider. The design of the experiment emphasizes accurate identification, complete angular acceptance, and precise measurement of the decay products of W and Z bosons: charged leptons (both electrons and muons), quarks and gluons, which emerge as collimated jets of particles, and noninteracting particles, such as neutrinos. The primary physics goals of D0 include searching for new phenomena, such as the top quark or particles outside the standard model, and high-precision studies of the W and Z bosons. In addition, the excellent muon identification will allow the study of b-quark production and decay. This report will describe D0`s muon system, give preliminary measurements of chamber and trigger rates, and discuss muon identification

The search for new physics with the D0 detector
The latest results of searches at D0 for physics beyond the Standard Model are presented. These include searches for new weak vector bosons, second generation leptoquarks, a bosonic Higgs, SUSY particles (squarks, gluinos, winos, zinos, and a light stop squark), and a fourth generation heavy neutrino. For each search, backgrounds and physics signals are discussed. No evidence for new physics has been observed. Limits on cross sections and masses are presented
