FIRST RECORD OF THE TWAITE SHAD, ALOSA FALLAX (LACÉPÈDE, 1803), IN ENTELLA RIVER BASIN (LIGURIA, NW ITALY). (PISCES, OSTEICHTHYES, CLUPEIDAE)
This short note describes the first advisory about the return upstream of a specimen of Alosa fallax (Lacépède, 1803) along the River Entella and the Lavagna Stream up to Ponte Vecchio locality (Municipality of Carasco, Liguria Region, North-Western Italy). The observation of twaite shad in the Entella River basin is a very important ichthyological event: it shows the great environmental potentiality of this Ligurian river basin
OBSERVATIONS ON THE PRESENCE OF Anguilla anguilla (Linnaeus, 1758) IN LIGURIAN KARST ENVIRONMENTS AND THE DISCOVERY OF LIVE INDIVIDUALS IN THE BORGIO VEREZZI CAVES
Two observations (11/02/2022, 05/12/2023 from Davide Barberis) of Anguilla anguilla (Linnaeus, 1758) individuals in a not-touristic part of the Borgio Verezzi show cave (Liguria, NW Italy) raises intriguing questions regarding the phenology of the species and its potential troglophilic behavior in karst environments adjacent to the coastline. Thanks to the first observation, this preliminary work aimed to confirm the presence of the eel in the hydrographic basins of the karst system to which the Borgio Verezzi cave belong, an area mainly composed of limestone and dolomitic rocks. While awaiting monitoring of the waters within the caves, an initial quantitative sampling was conducted on the Bottassano Brook, one of the few surface watercourses in the area. Its terminal sector is characterized by temporary surface flows as well as potential subsurface flows, whereas, at the confluence with the Rio Carlando, the water contribution and the impermeability of the riverbed allow a residual surface flow useful for the passage and development of the eel. The sampling resulted in the capture of five specimens at different life stages. Future steps should include further sampling in adjacent basins and investigations to understand whether the cave might serve as a passage site (ascending from the sea or descending from adjacent streams via karst connections), or might even represent a trophic and growth area of interest
FIRST RECORD OF THE CISALPINE PIKE ESOX CISALPINUS BIANCO & DELMASTRO, 2011 IN LIGURIA (NW ITALY): FUTURE STUDIES AND STORAGE PERSPECTIVES
The first record of the cisalpine pike Esox cisalpinus Bianco & Delmastro 2011 in the lower Magra River Basin (E Liguria, NW Italy) is reported. The finding of a dead pike specimen in a fyke net in Laghi Gemelli inside the Montemarcello-Magra-Vara Natural Park holds conservation and management implications for the distribution and definition of native fish communities within ichthyological districts in Italy in view of application of the European Water Framework Directiv

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Phylogeography of Sarmarutilus rubilio (Cypriniformes: Leuciscidae): Complex Genetic Structure, Clues to a New Cryptic Species and Further Insights into Roaches Phylogeny
Italy hosts a large number of endemic freshwater fish species due to complex geological events which promoted genetic differentiation and allopatric speciation. Among them, the South European roach Sarmarutilus rubilio inhabits various freshwater environments in three different ichthyogeographic districts. We investigated the genetic diversity of S. rubilio using two different mitochondrial markers (COI and CR), aiming to define its relationship with other similar taxa from the Balkan area and, from a phylogeographic perspective, test the effects of past hydrogeological dynamics of Italian river basins on its genetic structure and demographic history. Our analysis highlighted a marked genetic divergence between S. rubilio and all other roach species and, among Italian samples, revealed the existence of three deeply divergent geographic haplogroups, named A, B and C. Haplogroup C likely corresponds to a new putative cryptic species and is located at the northern border of the South European roach range; haplogroup B is restricted to Southern Italy; and haplogroup A is widespread across the entire range and in some sites it is in co-occurrence with C or B. Their origin is probably related to the tectonic uplifting of the Apuan Alps in the north and of the Colli Albani Volcano in the south during the Pleistocene, which promoted isolation and vicariance followed by secondary contacts
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
