L’attesa di Rebora. Fonti dei Canti anonimi e frammenti inediti a cavallo della Grande Guerra (con un nuovo documento per la lettura di Dall’imagine tesa)

    No full text
The discovery of an unpublished document illuminates the famous and most anthologized poem of Clemente Rebora (1885-1957), Dall’imagine tesa, offering a new interpretation to the mystery of the headline figure, important because it represents the meaning of the poet’s «terrible choice» after the dramatic experience of World War I and love with the Russian pianist Lydia Natus. The time of search and expectation, which has its outcome in Catholic conversion and in religious choice with a secret vote, pervades the collection of Canti anonimi, whose sources are investigated thanks to some author’s archival fragments. Phlegraean Fields: cities, landscapes, archaeologies. Some reflections

    No full text
The Phlegraean Fields are a very special observatory for studies on the long-term relationship between forms of settlement and landscape. Its continuity of occupation over time, in both its urban and its rural areas, has generated a complex series of “landscapes”, diverse in their morphology, chronology, cultural profile, and economic use. The stratigraphies – both horizontal and vertical – of these landscapes, as well as theirdiscontinuities and “recoalescing”, are recognizable throughout the long settlement history of the Phlegraean Fields. They offer many themes for study, some of which we have tried to briefly outline in the present essay, such as landscape formation and evolution, relationships between material and immaterial landscapes, and the research paths that have led to our current knowledge of the area

    Velia in età augustea

    No full text

Within the PRIN 2009 project, an interdisciplinary research program was started at Pian della Tirena (Nocera Terinese, CZ), probably to be identified as the Brettian Temesa site. The project is aimed to analyze the articulation of the inhabited area and its projection in the territory, through some survey, archaeological, geophysical, paleo-environmental analysis. The results of the geophysical researches allowed us to discover a new area of the ancient settlement, characterized by a strip of a road (Street 2) on which a residential building is located. The Street 2 is an orthogonal plateia to the Street 1, a stenopos explored in the eighties of the twentieth century. It was possible to archaeologically demonstrate that the urban plan of Pian della Tirena is organized on an orthogonal road system. Both the building and the road present a series of phases that involved all the life of the settlement, between the second half of the 4th and the end of the 3rd century BC. Another new element is related to the dating of the last two phases of the Street 2 from the beginning of the 2nd century BC. These building activities are the oldest traces concerning the Roman settlement that could be recognized as the colonia maritima of Tempsa (194 BC)

The Brettian fortified settlements on the Tyrrhenian coast of the Northern Calabria are less numerous than those on the Ionian coast. Also the related archaeological data are rather unclear. The hinterland settlements such as Torano and Cosenza don’t show us sure evidences useful to define their fortification wall structure. Nevertheless, on the coastline an important role is played by the settlement Pian della Tirena (Nocera Terinese, CZ) situated on the borders of the Lamezia plan. The archaeological researches carried out by the University of Naples Federico II brought to the light the North-western and the South-eastern sectors of the fortification built on the edge of the plateau. Particularly, the North-western one shows some building interventions that underline the importance of this fortification wall until the Roman period. The Brettian fortified settlements are integrated within a complex and articulated territorial system based on the control and management of the natural resources and rivers. In many cases they reveal some settlement patterns inspired by the Western Greek poleis

    Lastre Campana da Velia

The recent researches on Velia during the Early Imperial period are gradually highlighting new and important data related to the cultural changes that involved the city. New models, tastes and styles begun to spread specially from the Augustan age as it is well attested by some peculiar items strictly connected to the institution of the Principate. This paper focuses on two unpublished so-called Campana reliefs found in Velia during the first half of the 20th century. They belong to well-known typologies even though they present some specific features. The first relief, referable to “urban” moulds, shows a scene with treading grapes. It is characterized by a variant of the main iconographic scheme not so frequent. The second terracotta plaque attests to the activity of a probably local workshop which reviews standardized decorative schemes, replacing some items processed independently. The two reliefs from Velia provide us new data on the diffusion of these architectural terracottas in the Tyrrhenian Lucania, highlighting the receiving in a social context that, between the end of the 1st century BC and 1st century AD, had engaged in a strong recovery of his Greek cultural identity

An Algorithm for Real Time Estimation of the Flexible UAV Structural Motions Using a Video-based System

This paper focuses on the application of a vision based system coupled with an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and several accelerometers, distributed along the aircraft structure, for estimating the structural displacements for flexible aircrafts. This sensor suite, associated with the proposed data fusion algorithm, represents an innovative approach to solve the problem of structural displacements determination for flexible aircrafts. The knowledge of the aircraft actual shape allows implementing active control techniques, Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and moreover to determine the true position and attitude of sensors, installed on board. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated through numerical simulations
