Fluid-structure coupled analytical model for oscillatory fish-like propulsion
In this paper, a two-way hydroelastic model is developed for the evaluation of biomimetic propulsion of the oscillatory caudal fin of a fish-like robot. The model is able to give a fully analytical formulation of the coupling coefficients on which the propulsion is based (i.e., added mass, damping, stiffness and vorticity). Its promising results are evaluated both in terms of computational speed gain and by comparison with known semi-empirical and analytical models, numerical and experimental studies
The methodology, the specificity and sensitivity, and the mechanisms of action of three bronchial challenge tests are described. Two are based on the specific action of molecules on specific receptors, while the third (ultrasonic mist of distilled water) involves the release of mediators triggered by a non-specific hypoosmolar stimulus
L'autopsia psicologica : contradictio in adiecto? = The psychological autopsy : contradictio in adiecto?
Aim of this paper is to outline the art-of-the-state around the so called psychological autopsy, more and more applied in many forensic settings at international level, and also by a few years, more and more in some criminal cases in Italy. The work was performed taking into account the existing literature on the issue by discussing the various existing psychological autopsy protocols and methods. In addition a possible application of an psychological autopsy method has been discussed through the presentation of two criminal cases. Finally some ethical and methodological considerations and recommendations about the possible role of the criminologist in developing a psychological autopsy have been discussed
The purpose of this contribution is to highlight that, from a technical-evaluation point of view, it is not only correct, butalso appropriate and useful to proceed to a c.d. psychological autopsy even in cases of the past, almost historical. In fact, a hermeneutic-narratological reconstruction, aimed at illustrating the psycho-behavioral functioning of a subjectbefore his death, allows giving new interpretative keys to the cause of death, in terms of murder, suicide or death due tonatural causes. The authors analyze the case of banker Roberto Calvi, whose death has been the subject of prolonged and controversial ju-dicial events, both in Italy and abroad
HNCR model following robust approach
This paper introduces a new model for Non-Conformity Management, aimed at overcoming the limitations occurring when dealing with Non-Conformities through traditional methods like Root Cause Analysis. The need to suggest a new approach to Non-Conformities Management is connected to those situations where a large variety of Non-Conformities is recorded, with a significant number of low-impacting ones; addressing them directly through methods like Root Cause Analysis would often be not economically viable. In this context, the paper discusses Holistic Non-Conformities Reduction (HNCR) approach as a suitable option to address this kind of business situations. In particular, the contribution of this paper is related to the development of HNCR model and the evaluation of how to properly structure the model and the flow that shall be followed. By clustering Non-Conformities into flexible categories to be easily modified, expanded and rearranged through time, the HNCR model allows to identify new critical Non-Conformity families, otherwise hardly detectable. A proof of concept relative to HNCR deployment is presented: 2 different scenarios are introduced, the first being the Non-Conformities management within the extended supply chain of a large pharmaceutical distribution centre, while the second deals with Non-Conformities in the context of a company's new programs development
