A QoE-aware Joint Resource Allocation Algorithm for Uplink Carrier Aggregation in LTE-Advanced Systems
Modeling and analysis of millimeter/sub-millimeter wave indoor communications for multi-gigabit wireless transmission
For multi-gigabit wireless transmission, this work models and analyzes millimeter/sub-millimeter wave indoor communications. By using the blocking probability to describe the interruption of transmitted signals, this paper evaluates system-level performance and the correlation coefficient between propagation signals. Numerical results reveal that the proposed channel model for multi-gigabit wireless transmission, which uses the blocking probability, is suitable for describing the effect of obstacle blocking in the indoor environment

Nonsaturated Throughput Analysis of Coexistence of Wi-Fi and Cellular With Listen-Before-Talk in Unlicensed Spectrum
This paper analyzes the coexistence performance of Wi-Fi and cellular networks conditioned on nonsaturated traffic in the unlicensed spectrum. Under the condition, the time-domain behavior of a cellular small-cell base station (SCBS) with a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure is modeled as a Markov chain, and it is combined with a Markov chain which describes the time-domain behavior of a Wi-Fi access point. Using the proposed model, this study finds the optimal contention window size of cellular SCBSs in which total throughput of both networks is maximized while satisfying the required throughput of each network, under the given traffic densities of both networks. This will serve as a guideline for cellular operators with respect to performing LBT at cellular SCBSs according to the changes of traffic volumes of both networks over time.
Performance analysis of OBS networks using the effective bandwidth method
This article provides a new scheme for the blocking probability evaluation for optical burst switching networks. While several previous articles used mainly links as servers, we consider switches as servers. In order to evaluate the blocking probability at switches, we use the effective bandwidth method. The method shows more accurate results and the accuracy of the method is proven by simulation and numerical analyses
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Background: Sex hormones affect development and prognosis of gastric cancer (GC). This study aimed to compare the sex hormone receptor expression between control and GC, and to evaluate its correlation with characteristics of patients such as sex. Methods: A total of 110 patients (74 with GC, 36 controls) were prospectively enrolled and underwent immunohistochemistry (IHC) and reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for estrogen receptors (ER) α and β and androgen receptor (AR). The effect of ERs and AR on the clinicopathological characteristics, including age, sex, Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection status, and tumor characteristics were analyzed. Results: The positive rate of ERα, ERβ, and AR in GC tissue was 64.9%, 78.4%, and 60.8% by IHC and 41.4%, 27.6%, and 48.3% in RT-PCR respectively. In control, the positive rate of those was 16.7%, 80.6%, and 38.9% by IHC and 22.2%, 58.3%, and 19.4% in RT-PCR respectively. The IHC and RT-PCR results showed light to fair concordance with each other, and ERα and AR expressions were positively correlated with cancer, while ERβ showed the opposite pattern. ERα expression was correlated with HP negativity (p<0.001), diffuse or mixed-type histology (p=0.014), and undifferentiated histology (p<0.001) by IHC. AR expression was related to HP negativity (p<0.001), cardiac cancer (p=0.040), and undifferentiated histology (p<0.001) by IHC. The expression rate showed differences according to sex. That is, the higher expression rate of ERα in males and that of AR in females seemed to be related with cancer. Conclusion: The expression rate of ERα, ERβ and AR was 64.9%, 78.4% and 60.8% in cancer group and 16.7%, 80.6% and 38.9% in control group using IHC, and 41.4%, 58.3% and 48.3% in cancer group and 22.2%, 27.6% and 19.4% in control group using RT-PCR. The expression rate of ERα and AR was higher in cancer group than in control group, and ERα expression in males and AR expression in females was higher in cancer group than in control group, which may explain the sex-based differences in GC. Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
