Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. The Effects of Empowerment on Perception-Based Organizational Performance: A Focus on the Mediating Effects of Individual and Organizational Characteristics
본 논문은 2010년 서울여자대학교 행정학전공 학술세미나에서 발표한 원고를 수정 및 보완한 것임.본 연구는 서울특별시 본청의 10개 국 단위의 조직에 근무하는 262명의 공무원을 대상으로 임파워먼트와 조직성과 간 관계를 개인 및 조직수준의 특성변수를 고려하여 연구하였다. 임파워먼트가 공공부문의 인식된 조직성과에 긍정적인 영향력을 행사하는지를 연구함과 더불어, 임파워먼트와 조직성과 간 관계를 강화하는 매개변수의 역할에 대해서도 분석하였다. 본 연구의 구성개념 간 인과관계 및 매개역할을 연구하기에 앞서, 본 연구는 구조방정식모형의 측정모형에서 확인적 요인분석을 통해 기존 외국문헌에서 제시된 각 구성개념의 타당성과 모형적합도 등을 연구하였다. 구조방정식의 구조모형을 연구한 결과, 임파워먼트는 조직성과를 향상시키는 원인 변수로서의 역할을 수행하는 것으로 나타났다. 뿐만 아니라, 임파워먼트와 조직성과 간 관계는 개인 간 신뢰와 피드백의 매개변수를 통해 총효과가 향상하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 본 연구에서 논의된 역할 외 행동은 조직성과를 향상시키지 못했을 뿐 아니라, 임파워먼트와 조직성과 간 관계에 매개역할도 수행하지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 분석결과를 바탕으로, 본 연구는 함의와 향후 연구방향 등을 제시하였다. Using the multi-stage cluster sampling method, this study collected data from 10 units of the Seoul Metropolitan Government to study the relationship between empowerment and organizational performance considering the mediating impacts at the both individual and organizational levels, including extra-role behavior, feedback, and interpersonal trust. Before analyzing the causal relationship and mediating effects, this study conducted confirmatory factor analysis to confirm each constructs proposed factor structure. The results of structural model in SEM found that empowerment increased perception-based organizational performance. In addition, it was found that the two mediating variables, including interpersonal trust and feedback, led to an increase in performance, as well as partially mediating the relationship between empowerment and performance. As a mediating variable in this study, however, extra-role behavior did not mediate the causal relationship between empowerment and performance. Some implications, limitations, and future research directions are discussed based on these results
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

새로운 저분자 화합물에 의한 인간 골수 유래 줄기세포의 선택적 연골 분화
학위논문 (석사)-- 서울대학교 대학원 : 치의과학과, 2014. 8. 조재진.중배엽 줄기세포는 골관절염과 같은 연골 결함을 치료하기 위한 우수한세포 자원으로 고려되고 있다. 특히 골수 유래의 줄기세포는성체줄기세포와 다양한 연골 분화 연구에 이용되고 있다. 골수 유래줄기세포의 연골화 과정은 defined media 에 TGF-β3 를 넣어유도되어진다. 본 연구는 high throughput screening(HTS) 방법으로세포에 영향을 주는 저분자 물질 20B09 를 발견하였다. 이 실험의목적은 저분자 화합물이 TGF-β3 를 대체할 수 있는지를 확인하는것이다. 원심분리로 물리적인 자극을 준 후에 20B09 의 연골 분화능력을 측정하였다. 배양 7 일과 14 일 후에 3 차원적으로 연골화된masses 는 GAG assay, RT-PCR, Safranin-O 와 Von Kossa 와 같은특수염색으로 분석하였다. 또한 CollagenⅠ, Ⅱ로 면역조직염색법을실시하였다. 육안으로의 결과는 14 일 동안 TGF-β3 와 20B09 의 차이가없었다. 그렇지만 GAG assay 결과는 7 일에서 20B09 가 TGF-β3 보다 GAG 양이 더 풍부하였지만 14 일의 결과에서는 이러한 경향이바뀌었다. Safranin-O 에 의한 조직염색 결과는 TGF-β3 와 20B09 에서proteoglycan 의 발현이 효과적으로 관찰되었다. CollagenⅠ과CollagenⅡ의 면역조직염색 결과에서도 20B09 가 TGF-β3 를 처리한그룹과 비슷한 레벨의 발현량을 보여주었다. RT-PCR 의 결과도TGF-β3 는 연골화 과정에서 강력하게 작용하는 것을 보여주지만hyperthroph 와 osteogenesis 와 관계된 전사인자도 증가하는 것을보여주었다. 반면에 실험에 선택된 저분자 화합물 20B09 는 적은발현량을 보여주었고 골수유래줄기세포의 연골분화를 선택적으로 유도할수 있었다. 자세한 작용 기작과 표적 식별은 현재 연구 중이며 저분자물질을 이용한 실험은 연골화 과정의 신호전달 문제를 해결하기 위해중요한 물질로 고려된다.To treat cartilage defection, mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) are considered as promising alternative cell source. Especially bone marrow derived MSCs have best characterized adult stem cells and have been used in various chondrogenic differentiation researches. Inducing chondrogenesis from human bone marrow derived MSCs is formed in combination of defined media and TGF-β3. We also found small molecules 20B09, 20F08 which have the effect to cells by high throughput screening (HTS) method. The purpose of the experiment is to confirm whether these small molecules are able to replace TGF-β3. We measured the chondrogenic differentiation ability of 20B09, 20F08 after physical triggering by centrifugation. After 7 and 14 days, three dimensional chondrogenic clusters were measured by GAG assay, RT-PCR, specical staining such as Safranin-O and Von Kossa. Furthermore, we measured collagenⅠ, Ⅱ by immunohistochemistry. Macroscopic results for 14 days were not different from TGF-β3 groups and small molecule groups. GAG assay showed that 20B09 groups were the faster enrichment of GAG contents than TGF-β3 at 7 days, but this trend was reversed at 14 days. Histological analysis results showed that TGF-β3 and 20B09 both allowed the efficient expression of proteoglycan by Safranin-O. Immunohistochemistry results showed that both collagenⅠ and collagenⅡ observed the high expression in 20B09, 20F08 treated groups, compared to similar expression levels in TGF-β3 treated groups. RT-PCR assay results supported the trend too. TGF-β3 groups showed a strong effect to chondrogenesis but transcripts for hypertrophy and osteogenesis were also increased. On the other hand, the selected small molecules 20B09, 20F08 did not. Therefore, small molecules can selectively induce the chondrogenic differentiation of hBM-MSCs. A detailed mechanistic research and target identification are currently under way and will be reported in due course. This experiment using small molecules is considered as the best substance to solve signaling problems on chondrogenesis.Introduction

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
