Applied Tai Chi in Marimba Playing - Episode 1
I am pleased to invite you to review these short educational video-files which are related to my PhD study: Applied Tai-Chi in marimba performance. The artistic part of this research is carried out with the collaboration of the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. The scientific method design and measurement are developed with support of the Multidisciplinary Motor Centre Antwerp (M2OCEAN), the department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy (REVAKI) and the Pedagogy department of the University Antwerp.
The study proves at this moment that the applied Tai Chi movements influence the stability of the trunk and offers students clear guidelines how the body should function behind the marimba. Furthermore, it offers the knowledge of body awareness and artistic inspirations.
The videos are divided into several categories
1. Introduction
2. Breath
3. Concept of Centre
4. Upper Trunk
5. Lower Trunk
6. Short summary

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
