CREANET : Creativity, Dopaminergic System, and Parkinson’s Disease : A High-Density Electroencephalographic Approach
No full textLa créativité joue un rôle fondamental dans la formation de notre paysage culturel et technologique. Elle a constamment été la force motrice derrière les entreprises artistiques, inventives et scientifiques, stimulant l'innovation et repoussant les limites du progrès humain. Pourtant, l'architecture neuronale du cerveau créatif reste largement indéfinie. Dans le cadre de cette thèse de doctorat, nous avons utilisé des méthodes avancées d'analyse de l'imagerie cérébrale pour étudier la cognition créative chez des individus en bonne santé et dans le contexte de la maladie de Parkinson (MP). Cette dernière est caractérisée par la dégénérescence sélective des neurones dopaminergiques du cerveau, ce qui en fait un modèle pertinent pour analyser l'impact des perturbations dopaminergiques sur la fonction cérébrale. En d'autres termes, l'association établie entre la créativité et la fonction dopaminergique a servi de lien entre les parties fondamentale et clinique de notre recherche.En plus des mesures comportementales de plusieurs aspects de la créativité, des données électrophysiologiques ont été recueillies à l'aide de l'électroencéphalographie à haute densité (EEG-HR), une technique de neuroimagerie qui s’est imposée comme un outil de pointe pour explorer l’activité cérébrale avec une résolution temporelle exceptionnelle (à la milliseconde). Les ensembles de données comprenaient plusieurs conditions (état de repos et tâches expérimentales) dans les populations de sujets sains et de patients atteints de la maladie de Parkinson. Ce manuscrit détaille le contexte, les méthodes, les résultats et les discussions de cette mission à double volet. Tout d’abord, nous avons exploré la connectivité fonctionnelle liée à la cognition créative, en définissant un modèle de prédiction basé sur le connectome de la créativité. Ce modèle a permis de mieux comprendre les réseaux fonctionnels de la créativité dans le cerveau, contribuant ainsi à la connaissance des processus cognitifs et des théories du comportement créatif. Ensuite, nous avons étudié l’impact de la MP sur le potentiel créatif, le comportement créatif et la dynamique de l’activité cérébrale au cours de la pensée créative. Les résultats ont non seulement éclairé les mécanismes de la créativité, mais aussi les déficiences cognitives associées à la MP et les mécanismes compensatoires potentiels mettant en évidence la nature flexible de notre cerveau.Creativity plays a fundamental role in shaping our cultural and technological landscape. It has consistently been the driving force behind artistic, inventive, and scientific endeavors, fueling innovation and pushing the boundaries of human progress. Yet the neural architecture of the creative brain remains largely undefined. In the present PhD thesis, we employed advanced computational methods of brain imaging analysis to investigate creative cognition in health and in the condition of Parkinson’s disease (PD). This latter is characterized by the selective degeneration of brain dopaminergic neurons, therefore it represents a pertinent model for analyzing the impact of dopaminergic disturbances on brain function. That is, the established association between creativity and dopaminergic function was the bridge between the fundamental and clinical parts of our research.In addition to behavioral measures of multiple aspects of creativity, electrophysiological data were acquired with high-density electroencephalography (HD-EEG), a neuroimaging technique that has emerged as a promising tool to explore brain activity with an exceptional temporal resolution (millisecond). Datasets included several conditions (resting-state and experimental tasks) in both HC and PD populations. This manuscript details the background, methods, results, and discussions of the twofold mission. First, we explored functional connectivity related to creative cognition, where we defined connectome-based predictive modeling of creativity. The model has helped gain insights into the functional networks of creativity in the brain, contributing to the knowledge of cognitive processes and theories of creative behavior. Second, we investigated the impact of PD on creative potential, creative behavior, and brain activity dynamics during creative thinking. Findings have shed light not only on creative mechanisms but also on the cognitive impairments associated with PD and potential compensatory mechanisms that highlight the flexible nature of our brains
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
