Cognitive simulation of operators diagnostic strategies in nuclear power plants
This paper describes an approach to simulate operators diagnostic strategies under emergency situation of nuclear power plants. To assess operators cognitive workload during the diagnosis, we have developed a diagnostic model, which is an embedded module of a task simulation analyzer, SACOM. This model is based on a blackboard architecture and uses four types of diagnostic agents. The diagnostic agents can simulate typical diagnostic strategies used by human operators: i.e., data-driven search, symptomatic search, hypothesis-driven search, and topographic search. The model is developed using a G2 expert system tool
Improving the performance of the trolley supply chain with a focus on visibility.
The lack of visibility, significant investment and a presumption of fleet shrinkage falter the decision-making process of a Dutch airline. Five decision areas have been identified and for each decision area improvements strategies or alternatives have been designed. Selecting the best alternative per decision area is a multi-criteria decision making problem. Therefore, a more sophisticated method is required to support the decision-maker. For this problem the novel Best-Worst Multi-Criteria Decision Making Method (BWM) has been selected. The BWM has been successfully applied to select the best alternative per decision area. Environment-insensitive two-photon ratiometric probe for in cellulo quantitative measurement of hydrogen peroxide
The quantitative analysis of a biological analyte directly through fluorescence imaging is essential in biomedical sciences but remains as a challenge owing to the environment-sensitive nature of fluorescence intensity. We show that a fluorescent hydrogen peroxide probe based on an in cellulo super-bright benzothiazolyl-benzocoumarin dye of which emission properties are insensitive to environmental changes offers a reliable and practical means for the quantitative analysis of hydrogen peroxide in cells and tissues directly through ratiometric imaging both under one-photon and two-photon excitation conditions. Different cellular hydrogen peroxide concentrations were determined for several cell lines and also for tumour and normal tissues. © 2021 The Author(s)11Nscopu
Directional radiation of Babinet-inverted optical nanoantenna integrated with plasmonic waveguide
We present a Babinet-inverted optical nanoantenna integrated with a plasmonic waveguide. Using an integrated nanoantenna, we can couple the plasmon guide mode in a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) structure into the resonant antenna feed directly. The resonantly excited feed slot then radiates to free space and generates a magnetic dipole-like far-field pattern. The coupling efficiency of the integrated nanoantenna is calculated as being approximately 19% using a three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D FDTD) simulation. By adding an auxiliary groove structure along with the feed, the radiation direction can be controlled similar to an optical Yagi-Uda antenna. We also determine, both theoretically and experimentally, that groove depth plays a significant role to function groove structure as a reflector or a director.
