"Put your own house in order first": local perceptions of EU influence on Romani integration policies in the Czech Republic

    No full text
This article examines the influence of the European Union (EU) on the development and implementation of Romani integration policy in the Czech Republic from the perspective of those responsible for policy delivery. Based on analysis of key policy documents and research conducted in the Czech Republic, this article first examines how Romani integration became a more important issue during membership negotiations and then discusses how the criticism of the European Commission's Regular Reports was received by those responsible for implementing pro-Romani policies. Finally, the paper assesses how the status of full EU membership has impacted on integration policy. The article concludes that while funding for Romani integration projects has benefitted some groups, the overall impression of the EU is of a remote institution, quick to criticise and unwilling to practise what it preaches

This purpose of this paper is to study Spring scream, which is the most special culture landscape in Taiwan. Whenagency talk about Spring Scream, people did not realize that they are talking about whole Kenting in spring vacation. Kenting in Spring vacation became a carnival landscape, but no one notice that. For many years, so many festival, gig ,party, show in Kenting called \ue2Spring scream\ue2. But, there are a music festival which name is \ue2Real-Spring scream\ue2. This Spring scream festival started at 1995. This is the first activities to call \ue2Spring sream\ue2. Jimi and Wade hold it in Kenting every year. In beginning, Spring scream is just a gig, but now , it is a culture landscape. The process of three change \uef\ubc 1.The first festival which name is \ue2Real \ue2Spring sream\ue2 has some changed. 2.Development environment of Kenting at the same time. 3. Finally, The governmentality came. The culture landscape \ue2Spring sream\ue2, interact with whole Hengchun Peninsula. This study will present so many communities which effect this space, and their imagination. In the other hand, this study will present how those indemnities of agency of \ue2Real- Spring scream \ue2interact with these festivals, other comunuties and this space

Towns in the regional policy of activation of peripheral areas – choosing problems – the case of northern Poland

    No full text
In Polish regions there are big differences of the level of development between metropolitan areas (and others surroundings of big cities) and peripheral ones. These differences refere also to the factors and chances of development – in the peripheral areas there are little of them. What could help the activation of those areas is the development of some of the cities, including the localization of the investments. But the development usually requires the support of regional politics resources. In the area of the authors' interests there are problems of regional politics, 1) Which cities should be supported to activate the best peripheral areas of the regions? 2) What kind of transformations of the city space should be supported as part of that politics? Author analyses the problems and relations presented above and designs scenarios of activation of the chosen peripheral areas of provinces in northern Poland.

Microstructure and properties of a low-carbon steel processed by equal-channel angular pressing

    No full text
An ultrafine-grained low carbon steel (Fe–0.15 wt.% C–0.52 wt.% Mn) was fabricated by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) at room temperature by pressing for up to a maximum of 10 passes using route C. There was an elongated substructure with a width of ~0.2–0.3 ?m after 10 passes of ECAP and the corresponding tensile strength was >1200 MPa. It is shown that subsequent annealing for 1 h at 773 K, which is below the recrystallization temperature of ferrite, leads to equiaxed grains with a size of ~0.3–0.4 ?m, an increase in the tensile elongation and a strength above 1000 MPa. Annealing for 1 h at 873 K, which is above the recrystallization temperature, gives a recrystallized equiaxed structure of fine grains with an average grain size of ~7 ?m, a strength of <500 MPa and stress–strain curves similar to those anticipated for a low-carbon steel

The author is a librarian of the HathiTrust partnership, California. He describes the beginning and the development of a huge collaborative project comprising around 60 American libraries. Its mission is “To contribute to the common good by collecting, organizing, preserving, and sharing the record of human knowledge”. HathiTrust has organized a great common repository of digitized library materials. The reposytory provides open access to over 10 million digital units. The author points out advantages of cooperation in such a project and discusses tasks undertaken to enrich the library.
