After the entry into the new century, the process of democratization of higher education
accelerated, and the relationship between higher education and socio-economic
development became even closer.
Increasing access to higher education in China has led to a fundamental change in the
job opportunities of college graduates, notably of the foreign language courses, which
face increasing pressure on the labor market. Chinese society has been particularly
concerned about special groups, for example by setting up vocational training schools for
foreign languages.
Based on her own experience in teaching Portuguese in China, the author intends to
contribute to the professional development of the Portuguese language education and
teaching. In this context, she gives some suggestions for the reform of Portuguese
Language courses at the Foreign Language Institutes of Vocational Training, her area of
academic specialization.N/

China in Global Governance of Intellectual Property ::Implications for Global Distributive Justice /
This book analyses how China has engaged in global IP governance and the implications of its engagement for global distributive justice. It investigates five cases on China's IP engagement in geographical indications, the disclosure obligation, IP and standardisation, and its bilateral and multilateral IP engagement. It takes a regulation-oriented approach to examine substate and non-state actors involved in China's global IP engagement, identifies principles that have guided or constrained its engagement, and discusses strategies actors have used in managing the principles. Its focus on engagement directs attention to processes instead of outcomes, which enables a more nuanced understanding of the role that China plays in global IP governance than the dichotomic categorisation of China either as a global IP rule-taker or rule-maker. This book identifies two groups of strategies that China has used in its global IP engagement: forum and agenda-related strategies and principle-related strategies. The first group concerns questions of where and how China has advanced its IP agenda, including multi-forum engagement, dissembling, and more cohesive responsive engagement. The second group consists of strategies to achieve a certain principle or manage contesting principles, including modelling and balancing. It shows that China's deployment of engagement strategies makes its IP system similar to those of the EU and the US. Its balancing strategy has led to constructed inconsistency of its IP positions across forums. This book argues that China still has some way to go to influence global IP agenda-setting in a way matching its status as the second largest economy. ArguLens: Anatomy of Community Opinions On Usability Issues Using Argumentation Models
In open-source software (OSS), the design of usability is often influenced by the discussions among community members on platforms such as issue tracking systems (ITSs). However, digesting the rich information embedded in issue discussions can be a major challenge due to the vast number and diversity of the comments. We propose and evaluate ArguLens, a conceptual framework and automated technique leveraging an argumentation model to support effective understanding and consolidation of community opinions in ITSs. Through content analysis, we anatomized highly discussed usability issues from a large, active OSS project, into their argumentation components and standpoints. We then experimented with supervised machine learning techniques for automated argument extraction. Finally, through a study with experienced ITS users, we show that the information provided by ArguLens supported the digestion of usability-related opinions and facilitated the review of lengthy issues. ArguLens provides the direction of designing valuable tools for high-level reasoning and effective discussion about usability

Precipitation of nesquehonite from homogeneous supersaturated solutions
The homogeneous (unseeded) precipitation of nesquehonite (MgCO(3)center dot 3H(2)O) was studied over the temperature range of 10-40 degrees C. Precipitation was triggered by the supersaturation created by mixing MgCl(2) solution (0.5-1.5 M) with Na(2)CO(3) solution in the same concentration range. The Meissner's method was adopted in the calculation of supersaturations during the MgCl(2)-Na(2)CO(3) reaction to monitor the precipitation. Solids were identified using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. In the temperature range of 10-40 degrees C, MgCO(3)center dot 3H(2)O with needle-like or gel-like morphology was precipitated. It was seen that the length, width and surface smoothness of the particles changed with reaction temperature and supersaturation. The supersaturation (S) was in the range of 1.09-58.68 during titration of Na(2)CO(3) solution. The dimension of the crystals increased with longer addition time (or lower initial concentration of reactant) at the same temperature. Slower addition via titration of 2 h followed by 2 h of equilibration at 40 degrees C proved successful in producing well developed needle-like MgCO(3)center dot 3H(2)O crystals of 30-50 mu m long and 3-6 mu m wide. MgCO(3)center dot 3H(2)O obtained were calcined to produce highly pure magnesium oxide (MgO) at 800 degrees C. The morphology of MgO was similar to that of their corresponding precursors. What is common may be as important as what is different: examining the general factor shared by dispositional shame and guilt using bi-factor models
Previous research on shame and guilt has tended to focus on their unique associations with other variables. It has become commonplace to eliminate the substantial shared variance with shame when examining guilt, and to eliminate shared variance with guilt when examining shame. What previous research has typically not done is to examine the variance shared by shame and guilt. In a series of three studies, we addressed this issue by employing bi-factor models to examine the general factor shared by shame and guilt, and its relationship to several important personality traits and two broad liability factors of psychopathology (i.e., externalizing and internalizing psychopathology). As hypothesized, the general factor shared by shame and guilt was strongly and positively associated with personality traits associated with moral emotions (empathy, agreeableness and conscientiousness), and strongly but inversely associated with both self-reported and informant-reported externalizing psychopathology. The general factor was also associated with self-consciousness, but not with self-criticism, vulnerable narcissism or neuroticism. The implications of these findings are discussed regarding the conceptualization of shame and guilt.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'U of I Access', the embargo will last until 2020-08-01The student, Wenting Mu, accepted the attached license on 2018-04-13 at 09:14.The student, Wenting Mu, submitted this Dissertation for approval on 2018-04-13 at 09:24.This Dissertation was approved for publication on 2018-04-17 at 17:21.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #12229 on 2018-09-27 at 11:15:30Made available in DSpace on 2018-09-27T16:27:59Z (GMT). Controlled Supersaturation Precipitation of Hydromagnesite for the MgCl2-Na2CO3 System at Elevated Temperatures: Chemical Modeling and Experiment
A new chemical model of supersaturation (S) was developed and applied to test for the precipitation of hydromagnesite [Mg-5(CO3)(4)(OH)(2)center dot 4H(2)O] in the MgCl2-Na2CO3 system in supersaturated solutions over the temperature range of 50-90 degrees C. Based on the new model with the help of the OLI platform, the contour supersaturation of Mg-5(CO3)(4)(OH)(2)center dot 4H(2)O has been exactly constructed by calculating the activity coefficients of species in unstable solutions. Mg-5(CO3)(4)(OH)(2)center dot 4H(2)O crystals were identified using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images. It was found that the crystal properties, such as morphology, particle size distribution, filtration, and sedimentation characteristics, can be optimized by controlling the supersaturation during precipitation. With the control of supersaturation, well-developed spherical-like Mg-5(CO3)(4)(OH)(2)center dot 4H(2)O crystals can grow to an average size of 30-40 mu m, indicating a narrow particle size distribution, good filtration characteristics, and a high sedimentation rate. In addition, the Mg-5(CO3)(4)(OH)(2)center dot 4H(2)O obtained was calcined to produce high-purity MgO at 800 degrees C. The size and morphology of MgO were similar to the same characteristics of the corresponding precursors
