Environmental measurement study of double-aging neighborhoods under the EPA-S model in China
The “double aging” problem of the aging population and the simultaneous aging of the community's physical environment will become a huge challenge in highly urbanized areas of the world, and China's performance is becoming more and more obvious, affecting the physical and mental health and quality of life of the elderly. Nowadays, the paradigm of solving the double aging problem with the concept of “active aging” is gaining international acceptance, which means the elderly are centered on the design and construction of a community environment that maintains their ability to live independently and promotes active social interaction in urban regeneration. However, existing research still has shortcomings in how to apply the perspective of active aging to establish an indicator system for evaluating the built environment of “double aging” neighborhoods and formulate action strategies. The study constructs a theoretical analysis framework of EPA-S (E-Environment supports, P-Personal abilities, A-Activity behaviors, S-State of healthy and active life) from the perspective of active aging and builds the model based on that. This observational study designed the survey content and collected sample data in four typical double-aging neighborhoods in Beijing for multi-layer linear regression analysis to verify the reliability of the model and the correlation between indicators. It found that the design of the “EPA-S” model has a certain degree of credibility. In addition to personal socioeconomic factors, active living abilities, and material environmental support also have a significant impact on the mental health and happiness of the elderly. Specifically, being more involved in community public affairs and collective cultural and recreational activities, and better improving the quality of public activity venues and service facilities within walking distance of the elderly are related to the elderly maintaining good physical and mental health. The “EPA-S” model established in this study can be used as a reference tool to evaluate the active aging level of “double-aging” neighborhoods. At the same time, the analysis results of each variable also provide important inspiration for formulating specific neighborhoods' regeneration strategies
Research on Identification and Type Analysis of "Double Aging" Neighborhoods in the Central Zone of Beijing
In the current period of urban development and transformation in China,implementing urban regeneration,promoting the transformation of older neighborhoods,and realizing the improvement of environmental quality and social life have become urgent and important tasks. The aging of the physical environment and the aging of residents are the dual challenges faced by older neighborhoods regeneration in China. Therefore,this article focuses on the older neighborhoods in the city where the social demographic structure also shows an elderly state as the physical space ages,that is," double aging" neighborhoods regeneration. In view of the fact that there is a base for the total amount and distribution of residential areas with the characteristics of " double aging" is the basis for the design of policies and mechanisms for the adaptation of residential areas to adapt to aging. The study firstly analyzed the formation and evolution of older neighborhoods in Beijing,and used multi-source data to complete the analysis of the total scale of older neighborhoods and the development of double aging. Then it build a physical environment quality measurement system to further identify the older neighborhoods with " double aging" characteristics,and summarize their types and distribution characteristics. The urban " double aging" neighborhoods identification and classification method proposed in this study can provide a basis for the research and implementation management of the regeneration and transformation of older neighborhoods by type and division
Measurement of high-density public space in Macao from the perspective of publicity
Macao, a long-established high-density city, presents a unique feature that distinguishes it from other cities in the evolution of public space.From the theoretical perspective of political philosophy, this paper draws on the theoretical framework of the “public domain” to make the point about the public domain types, which include representative public domain, civic public domain, civil public domain, and the public domain that loses power. By summarizing public space measurement model in existing studies and developing the quantitative measurement index system applicable to the actual situation of public space in Macao, this paper aims to verify the ideas about the public space domain types in Macao and to analyze its characteristics.Quantitative elements include GIS data statistical analysis for physical properties of public space in Macao and Google Street View scores for public space facilities. The results of spatial clustering analysis show that Macao has produced distinct public domain types which differ in property rights, morphological characteristics, and other attributes under its high-density built environment development. Finally, combining the characteristics of the four public domains in the measurement indicators, this study attempts to infer the impact of Macao’s public space on daily use in the structural transformation process and proposes some suggestions to improve the public life quality
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
