Imma phuocbuu Buchsbaum, Chi & Chen, sp. nov. from south Vietnam (Lepidoptera: Immidae)
During a faunal survey of Lepidoptera in 2023, Imma phuocbuu Buchsbaum, Chi & Chen, sp. nov. was discovered and represents the first record of the genus in Vietnam. A single male specimen was collected from atransitional biotype between mangrove and semi-deciduous dry lowland forest habitats near the coast. The newspecies is distinguished from Imma transversella (Snellen, 1878), I. semicitra Meyrick, 1937 and I. semiclara Meyrick, 1929 by differences in wing pattern and genitalia morphology.Während einer faunistischen Untersuchung von Lepidoptera im Jahr 2023 wurde Imma phuocbuu Buchsbaum, Chi & Chen, sp. nov. entdeckt und stellt den ersten Nachweis der Gattung in Vietnam dar. A Play: Chen Zi-Gao, the Male Queen
This is a play adapted from the original play: “The Male Queen,” written by Wang Chi-Te in Ming dynasty. This is a whole new adaptation integrated with contemporary gender concepts and also referring to related historical documents and novels.he plot of the play is as follows: a general, Chen Chien, meets an extremely beautiful young soldier, Chen Zi-Gao on the battlefield. Chen Chien admires Chen Zi-Gao wholeheartedly, so he bestows him a treasured sword and takes him as his personal bodyguard, who also has to serve him at night. After the war, they return home in triumph. Chen Zi-Gao is accommodated in the western chamber and lives with Chen Chien’s wife, Shen Miao-Jung. Chen Chien’s sister, Chen Yu-Hua, meets Chen Zi-Gao incidentally and mistakes him for her fiance. After realizing the truth, she still falls in love with him. So she starts to see Chen Zi-Gao in the western chamber during the night. They have a secret affair. Then the brother and sister, Chen Chien and Chen Yu-Hua share the same beauty Chen Zi-Gao. Chen Zi-Gao falls in love with a male and a female at the same time. Then Chen Chien finally finds out the fact that his sister is having an affair with his beloved bodyguard. He wants Chen Zi-Gao to make a decision. Chen Zi-Gao is given a promise that if Chen Chien becomes King, he will be crowned the male queen. Chen Zi-Gao chooses Chen Chien. Chen Yu-Hua then dies of disappointment and depression.he play tries to present Chen Zi-Gao’s unique character in the combination of his yin and yang characteristics, which provides an authenticity for his homosexual relationship with Chen Chien. Chen Yu-Hua’s active pursue of passion and love makes a contrast between homosexual and heterosexual relationships. In such contrast, combined with power and gender struggle, the unique emotional and dramatic conflict is revealed. In addition to the traditional romance between a gifted young man and a beauty, this play hopes to discover a new relationship and affection through the interpretation and integration of contemporary gender concepts. his thesis will include the play and the author’s reflection on the play to show the beginning and subsequent developments of the making of this play, including the analysis of the original play “The Male Queen.”

Appropriations of Irish drama by modern Korean nationalist theatre : a focus on the influence of Sean O’Casey in a colonial context
My thesis explores how a translated author on the periphery of the host culture’s
translated repertoire can be at once subversive and innovative on the colonial scene,
using as an example the case of Sean O’Casey in colonial Korea. It explores the
importation of Irish drama in modern Korean theatre during the colonial period and
examines the appropriations of O’Casey’s plays by a central Korean playwright, Yu
Chi-jin, in creating his own plays. Under Japanese colonial rule in the early twentieth
century, intellectuals perceived the supreme task for the Korean people to be the
recovery of national sovereignty and independence. The modern Korean theatre
movement which rose among Korean intellectuals and dramatists during the colonial
period was to play a major part in this task. The ultimate goal of this movement was
to establish a modern national theatre promoting Korean culture and educating the
people, thereby recovering national independence. As their modernised dramatic
polysystem was still "young", Korean intellectuals and dramatists who were
involved in the theatre movement had to borrow dramatic models from other
countries. One of the models they chose was Irish playwrights, especially those who
were involved in the Irish dramatic movement. They published or staged the works
of W.B. Yeats, Lord Dunsany [Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett], Augusta
Gregory, J.M. Synge, St. J. Ervine, T.C. Murray and Sean O'Casey. Although
O'Casey was considered an important dramatist in the Irish dramatic movement, he
was a playwright on the periphery in the list of translated Irish dramatists in Korea
due to the colonisers’ censorship. However, he remained as a subversive and
innovative playwright on the colonial scene by virtue of being appropriated by Yu
Chi-jin who used O’Casey’s plays as models when creating his own works. In
discussing the subject matter of my thesis, I use Even Zohar’s polysystems theory as
a starting point in looking at ideological issues surrounding translation and extend
the discussion to offer a postcolonial perspective. While most translation in a
colonial context was considered as "an expression of the cultural power of the
colonisers," my thesis shifts the focus to translation as an expression of the cultural
power of the colonised. I explore how the colonised uses another colonised culture to
subvert the colonisers’ power
An investigation of Fang-ming Chen\ue2s discourses on nation and liberalism
After the end of martial law in late 1980s, the political discourse by Fang-ming Chen, one of the proponents of Taiwan\ue2s nation building, has been taken as an indicator among Taiwan\ue2s Pan- green group. While Chen has self-reported as an liberalist, how could he remains a die hard nationalist? How did he deal with the contradiction between liberalism and nationalism? Or the declaration and practice are two different things. This thesis departs from the statement that Chen is a classic liberalist, follows, as well as does detailed reading of the content of his personal life, observes the ingredients of liberalism which have been instilled into his life to cultivate his thought of liberalism. This thesis also explores Chen\ue2s level of liberalism. Is it a deep belief, or just a mean of power
struggling? The author deeply believe that as a belief, liberalism is a goal deserved for seeking without regrets, while as a mean, liberalism is disposable.
To examine the essence of Chen\ue2s thought of liberalism, the author puts emphasis on analyzing Chen\ue2s discourses on Taiwan nation, Taiwan independence, transitional justice as well as
Cross-Strait relations. The relation between Chen\ue2s related political discourses and his perspective of classic liberalism is intriguing.
Even though Dworkin\ue2s take of liberalism stresses precarious republicanism, public will and positive liberty rather than individual
liberty, will and negative liberty, scholars still regard him as a liberalist according to his way of discussion, not the nature of the object. Since Chen is neither a constructor nor an assistant of theory of liberalism, for the author to prove or disprove Chen\ue2s stand of liberalism is to examine his discourses and practice. Is Chen
become more of liberalism or less of it? From the spirit of liberalism, any construction should be examined by time, including the author\ue2s
argument. Whether Chen could become a liberalist as declared by himself has become the battle inside him
