Family Structure and the Effects of Sex Composition of Children on Father's Involvement
Prior literature on the impacts of children’s gender on the involvement of fathers has consistently shown that fathers spend more time with their children when they have at least one son than when they have only daughters. However, this literature has focused mostly on fathers in intact families. In the current study, I examine whether the influence of the sex composition of children on father’s involvement differs by family structure, and examine the explanations of gendered father’s involvement. Using data from the 1987-1988 National Survey of Families and Households, I find that the previously documented effect of sex composition holds only for fathers in intact families. Further examination shows that the presence of female adults in the household does not guarantee that fathers can freely display their son preference in their involvement whether there is any or not. By contrast, remarried fathers and more committed stepfathers tend to share similar child-gender effects on father’s involvement as biological married fathers in some degree. These findings suggest that highly committed fathers who believe they have a special role as a mentor for their sons may be more involved with their children when they have sons. Fathers’ differential parenting by child gender may be because of the common belief that sons need fathers more than daughters do

The Study of Frequency Planning for High BuildingTS in Mobile Communication System
本研究的目的在於探討在3G與LTE環境下高樓層站台的頻率規劃方式,希冀藉此找出合適的佈建策略,並對系統品質進行優化。為了達到目的,我們首先針對3G高樓層站台佈建分析優缺點,提出使用第三載波的策略,再調整跨頻率細胞重選(IFCR, Inter-frequency Cell Reselection)與跨頻率交遞(IFHO, Inter-frequency Handover)參數,確保系統的QoS品質。LTE環境下我們考慮軟性頻率重用(SFR-Soft Frequency Reuse)以改善基地台細胞邊緣用戶訊雜比(SINR),結合單位時間內細胞重選次數之參數來判斷用戶速度,依據速度分為高速/中速/低速三個群組,對應不同換手判斷條件,藉此縮短換手時間,減少換手(Handover)次數,以期能減低換手失敗率(Handover Failure Rate)來提高通話完成率(Call Completed Rate)。LTE高樓層站台涵蓋重疊造成與3G類似的干擾問題,我們提出回授用戶的平均SINR來動態調整細胞中心範圍之策略,藉此降低每個細胞間用戶使用軟性頻率重用時的同載波干擾,以提升系統效能。The objective of this thesis is to discuss the method of frequency planning for high building BTS in 3G and LTE mobile system. We want to find the purpose network planning strategy and optimize the system performance. In order to reach the goal, we analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of 3G’s high building BTS at first. The proposed method is using the third carrier frequency. Then we adjust the parameter of inter-frequency cell-reselection and inter-frequency handover to ensure the good QoS.To improve the SINR of those users in the cell edge border, soft frequency resue (SFR) must be considered in LTE. We decide the user’s speed for 3 schemes-high speed / medium speed / normal according to the number of cell reselection in unit time. For different speed we give it the corresponding handover decision criteria to shorten the handover’s time. So that we can reduce the handover failure rate and raise the call completed rate.In LTE, high building BTS also have the same coverage overlap problem as in 3G. We propose the feedback cell center user’s average SINR strategy to adjust the border of cell center. This method can reduce the inter-channel interference caused by overlapping with neighboring cells. Synthesis, Materials and Electro-Conductive Properties of Bi-based Cathodes for IT-SOFC
鑭鍶鈷鐵、鐠鍶鈷鐵及鐵酸鉍基陰極氧化物以EDTA-檸檬酸螯合法合成,其中鑭鍶鈷鐵也以膠粒製程的方法合成,作為對照組。利用掃描式電子顯微鏡的定量成分分析,比較兩種方法產製粉末的均勻性。使用定量X光繞射分析,進行鈷元素摻雜量產生的雜相,以及在高達20mol%的鉍鍶鐵中的固溶極限,以提高其總導電率。此外,為了獲得適當的陰極孔隙率,本研究也進行陰極在不同燒結溫度下的燒結曲線型態,和陰極所產生的裂痕量的關係。對於陰極導電的機制也進行了解,以總導電率、X射線光電子光譜(XPS),以及熱重分析進行分析。導電率的結果顯示,鈷元素的含量越多,其導電率也越高。最後,X射線光電子光譜結果顯示,本實驗製備的陰極材料表面在室溫下都是以Fe3+離子存在,表面氧空缺以鉍基陰極材料為最多,因此高溫離子導電效能會明顯較佳。M0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 (M=La, Pr, Bi) and BiFeO3-based cathodes were synthesized by a modified EDTA-citrate method. One La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 was synthesized by colloidal mixing/solid state sintering, and used as a comparable case. In order to study the homogeneity, two La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 powders were densified and analyzed by quantitative EDS. Detail study of quantitative XRD was done to analyze the impurity phases and the solid solution limit of Co-doping, so to increase the total conductivity of the BiFeO3-based cathodes. Besides, the porosity of cathode needs control by sintering, of which the behavior has been investigated on sintering curves and correlates to the crack formation in cathode layer. Conduction mechanisms (double exchange, small polaron, and oxygen ions conduction) were studied by measuring total conductivity, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and TGA analyses on two series cathodes, LnSCF6428 series and BiFeO3-based cathodes. The more the cobalt content is, the higher the conductivity. The results of XPS showed that the dense and porous Bi0.7Sr0.3Co0.04Fe0.96O3 at room temperature was mainly Fe3+ and oxygen vacancies on surface, implying ionic conductivity would dominate at high temperature
Multi-processor Platform for Integration of Physiological Signals in Newborns for Congenital Heart Disease Screening
本研究發展一套多處理器整合生理訊號平台系統,並應用在先天性心臟病新生兒的篩檢上。此整合生理訊號平台量測三合一整合型訊號,包含心音、心電圖和血氧訊號,並加上後端病徵特徵分析演算法,針對生理訊號做進一步的診斷分析,並提供相關後續處理建議。我們針對七種最常見,並有致死危險的先天性心臟病來做診斷,實驗結果可看出,本系統對於患有先天性心臟病的新生兒,有相當高的診斷率。
此多處理器整合生理訊號平台以TI的微處理器MSP430FG439為主體,前端生理訊號感測器經類比電路擷取後,藉由微處理器將訊號做A/D轉換整合,經藍芽技術傳至後端的電腦,做病症特徵的分析以及結果顯示。
在心音量測模組的部分,提高心音訊號的品質,有效提升診斷的準確率,並引進TI的類比晶片AIC3254 mini-DSP技術,將去環境雜音的可適性濾波器應用在量測心音時消除環境雜音,可清楚量到SNR為21.78 dB的心音訊號。心電圖量測模組使用TI所提供的INA333零漂移儀表放大器,可清楚量測到SNR為12.5 dB的心電圖訊號。血氧訊號使用TI的MSP430FG439為主體的韌體程式以及Nellcor的嬰兒包覆式血氧感測器。
系統將程序簡單化有效減少操作複雜度,在醫院中不必經過換診做不同生理訊號的量測與診斷,不需要經過專業的醫護人員即可進行心臟狀況的評估,因此可以減少傳統新生兒先天性心臟病的篩檢成本。系統具備易操作性與可攜性的優點,篩檢程序在五分鐘內即可完成,除了適合在醫院中當成新生兒出生時先天性心臟病基本篩檢流程的檢測,也可用以做居家的照護;在新生兒回家後,持續使用本系統檢測嬰兒的生理訊號狀態。In this research, we develop a multi-processor platform for integration of physiological signals which is implemented on screening newborns for congenital heart disease. The multi-processor platform measures the triple integrated signals, including the phonocardiogram, electrocardiogram (ECG), and pulse oximetry. The built-in diagnostic algorithm provides the management guidelines for practitioners. We take seven critical and significant heart diseases of newborns into account. From the result, the system has high diagnosis rate of congenital heart disease of newborns.
The multi-processor platform is based on TI’s microprocessor MSP430FG439. After the front-end circuit captures the physiological signals, these signals transmit into microprocessor for A/D converting and then transmit to back-end PC by wireless Bluetooth for analyzing the disease characteristics and show the results.
To enhance the quality of heart sound signal, using the TI’s analog chip AIC3254 with mini-DSP technology to implement the noise cancellation adaptive filter and the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of the heart sound signal is 21.78 dB. In the part of electrocardiogram, using the TI’s Zero-drift Instrumentation Amplifier INA333 and the SNR of the ECG signal is 12.5 dB. In the part of pulse oximetry, using the firmware code of MSP430FG439 and the Nellcor neonate silicone wrap probe to measure the oxygen saturation.
The system is designed with very simple process. With the system, the newborns need not to be changed consultation for measuring different physiological signal. Furthermore, it doesn’t need the professional doctors and nurses to diagnose and thus it can reduce the cost of traditional screening procedure. Because of the advantages of portability and property of easy manipulation, it will take less than 5 minutes to finish screening. It is not only suited to newborn congenital heart disease screening at the hospital, but can also be used at home. After a baby discharges from the hospital nursery, parents can still use the system to inspect their baby’s situation

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
