Paraxya gen. nov. Type species: Paraxya hui sp. nov. (Figs. 3–5) Diagnosis: The new genus is allied to Xya Latreille. 1809 (fig.1), but differs from latter by metatibia without swimming plates. The new genus is also allied to Burmadactylus Heads, 2009 (lacking swimming plates at metatibia, fig. 2) and differs from latter by metatarsus absent and hindwing present, surpassing the end of abdomen distinctly (figs. 3–5). Etymology: The new genus is name for the Xya Latreille. 1809, Para - = allied, Paraxya showing a sister genus of Xya Latreille, 1809 in Latin. Discussion. The hindwing of Burmadactylus grimaldii Heads, 2009 is absent, but it may be present, invisible, covered by tegmen, because the degradation of tegmen and hindwing generally may be in sync.Published as part of Cao, Cheng-Quan, Chen, Shen-Zhi & Yin, Zhan, 2019, A new genus and a new species of pygmy mole cricket in Cretaceous amber from Burma (Orthoptera: Tridactylidae), pp. 193-195 in Zootaxa 4559 (1) on page 194, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4559.1.12, http://zenodo.org/record/258518

Wan-Jung Chen Cello Recital Program Notes

No full text
The two pieces chosen for the program are from the works during the Russian Romantic period, namely, Rococo Variations, Op. 33 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Sonata in G Minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 19 by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Despite the vast amount of compositions written by Tchaikovsky, Tchaikovsky unfortunately did not write a concerto for the cello during his lifetime. Hence, Rococo Variations, Op. 33 could possibly serve as a substitute for this absence. The Sonata in G Minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 19 by Rachmaninoff is also Rachmaninoff's sole written sonata for cello and piano and his last composition for chamber music. As such, these two works are profoundly cherished by the community of cellists throughout the world

Automatic equal phase shift principle for space charge measurement under periodic stress of arbitrary waveform

No full text
An automatic equal phase shift principle (AEPS) is proposed to simplify space charge detection under periodic stress with the pulsed electroacoustic method. For pulse frequency, fp is a non-integral multiple with periodic stress frequency fa; the detecting phase can be automatically shifted with a certain value after each cycle of periodic stress. The pulse position will be at the same phase of periodic stress after several cycles. The minimum amounts of periodic stress cycles and pulse generated during this process are defined as Na (>1) and Np, respectively. They can be uniquely confirmed by the characteristic equation Na/fa = Np/fp. Moreover, the positions of pulse generated during this process are equally distributed in the periodic stress from 0º to 360° with a characteristic sequence of pulse. The phase interval, i.e. phase resolution Δ', is 2π divided by Np. Consequently, the phase resolution can be easily enhanced through an increase in the pulse amount Np by selection of fp, according to the characteristic equation. Finally, space charge behaviours in low-density polyethylene under 50 Hz AC stress were measured with three different pulse frequencies fp, i.e. 25.5, 1010 and 1001 Hz, to validate the proposed AEPS principle. Results show that the space charge distribution can be successfully acquired with a phase resolution from 7.07° to 0.36°, even if the pulse frequency is lower than the AC frequency at 25.5 Hz. This result indicates that AEPS can overcome the frequency limitation of the pulse generator, and a high phase resolution can be realised
