Luminescent Measurement Systems for the Investigation of a Scramjet Inlet-Isolator

    No full text
Scramjets have become a main focus of study for many researchers, due to their application as propulsive devices in hypersonic flight. This entails a detailed understanding of the fluid mechanics involved to be able to design and operate these engines with maximum efficiency even at their off-design conditions. It is the objective of the present cold-flow investigation to study and analyse experimentally the mechanics of the fluid structures encountered within a generic scramjet inlet at M = 5. Traditionally, researchers have to rely on stream-thrust analysis, which requires the complex setup of a mass flow meter, a force balance and a heat transducer in order to measure inlet-isolator performance. Alternatively, the pitot rake could be positioned at inlet-isolator exit plane, but this method is intrusive to the flow, and the number of pitot tubes is limited by the model size constraint. Thus, this urgent need for a better flow diagnostics method is addressed in this paper. Pressure-sensitive paint (PSP) has been applied to investigate the flow characteristics on the compression ramp, isolator surface and isolator sidewall. Numerous shock-shock interactions, corner and shoulder separation regions, as well as shock trains were captured by the luminescent system. The performance of the scramjet inlet-isolator has been shown to improve when operated in a modest angle of attack

Motorized pan-and-tilt camera head / Nor Azam Che Soh

The purpose of this project is to design and develop a motorized pan-and-tilt camera head that can be remote controlled using a joystick with the aim to help cameraman control the camera from a distance and produce fluid motion. This is done by using LabVIEW software and MyRio as microcontroller. The design of the pan-and-tilt camera head equipped with two servo motors which are for panning and tilting respectively. The servo motors are supported by servo brackets. The choice of servo motor used directly affects the stability of the pan-and-tilt movement, therefore an analysis of the selection of servo motor was done to determine the suitable servo motor based on the camera used. It is observed from the datasheet that MG995 is suitable for the prototype of this project. The pan-and-tilt camera head was able to pan-and-tilt from 0° to 180° respectively. It can be remotely controlled using a joystick which is connected wirelessly. The pan-and-tilt was successfully implemented in a smooth manner

The Saviour: the development of edutainment first aid training application for beginners / Ahmad Azam Che Zahari

First aid covers a broad range of techniques and tools in attending victims during emergency situations. The surge of technology helps in various things including education and trainings. The problem faced by individual who is having difficulties in dealing with emergency situations due to lack of knowledge and did not have proper trainings to aid victims. Therefore, this project aim to propose an alternative way to assist beginners by emphasizing first aid learning in fun and addictive ways. The objectives of this project are to identify the requirements for The Saviour edutainment mobile application, to design and develop the The Saviour mobile application by following the correct methodology. The scope for this project is for beginners to learn first aid techniques without attending official class or session. They will learn how to attend minor injuries that may occur around them. There are three categories included in The Saviour which are Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) technique, Wound Dressing technique and Bone Fracture technique. However, the techniques are limited to basic first aid techniques only and not applicable for experts and professionals. There are various of technology that are able to increase experience in learning first aid which will attract more users from different backgrounds. This project embed education into mobile game environment. Methodology that has been used for this project are Mobile Application Development Lifecycle (MADLC) and Game-Based Learning (GBL) Design Model. MADLC is divided into five phases which are, identification, design, development, prototyping, and testing phases. GBL design model been implemented during development phase of MADLC. A Multiple Answer Quiz concept was used in this project to allow users to challenge themselves on Basic First Aid knowledges after learning. Testing has been conducted with five users to get their feedback while using The Saviour application. Based on the result from user testing, it shows positive responses from users which The Saviour application gives a better experience to participants. For future works, this project can be enhanced by developing a multi-platform version of The Saviour application such as on iOS, Android and Microsoft. Besides this application can be enhancing the knowledges and experiences not only for beginners but for experts and professionals too

Indicator for Brake Lights (INBREL) / Mohd Azam Che Seman ... [et al.]

The detection of failures in vehicle lighting systems is crucial for enhancing vehicle safety and quality. Malfunctioning brake and tail lights can pose significant safety risks, as drivers may be unaware of these failures and consequently face higher chances of being involved in accidents. This project aims to address this critical issue by developing an innovative system that provides a warning signal to drivers in the event of brake or tail light failure. The proposed system, named the Indicator for Brake Lights (InBreL), includes an advanced control module that continuously monitors the functionality of the vehicle's brake and tail lights. Upon detecting a malfunction, the InBreL Control Module (ICM) promptly alerts the driver, enabling them to take immediate corrective action. This proactive approach not only enhances vehicle safety by preventing potential accidents but also provides car owners with an additional safety feature that ensures they are always aware of the operational status of their vehicle's lighting system. Throughout the project, various testing and validation processes were conducted to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of the ICM. The final product, the InBreL Control Module, demonstrated high reliability and ease of integration into existing vehicle systems, making it a practical solution for improving road safety, with its core component designed to notify drivers of any issues with the brake light system

Socrates in thee Plato's works: uniformity of styles and life in all the works

Despite the fact, only one of the Plato's treatises among his coaction of works is titled "Defending Socrates"; however, one can say that all the Plato's works are based on defense of Socrates. Meanwhile, they are founded on defending Socratic thoughts, manners and finally his life. Some scholars have considered historic Socrates as being distinct from the Platonic Socrates with regards to the Plato's thoughts. The author intends, contrary to that which is famous regarding Socrates inthe Plato's works, to see the Socratic life and manner as being uniform in all the works; Hence based on this uniformity, the principles governing on his original philosophical life have been inferred from the content of his thoughts
