Oral History of Nghi Moc Chau
An oral history with Mr. Nghi Moc Chau, who was born in May 17, 1956. He grew up in a farming village in Bac Lieu province and is of Chinese heritage. He left Vietnam in 1979 as a boat refugee to Malaysia. He spent two years in refugee camp before being sponsored to America in 1981 where he settled in Long Beach. He discusses keeping Vietnamese traditions, the differences in generations, and his appreciation for America. Minh-Chau Le
Minh-Chau Le is a senior at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She is majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and double minoring in Materials Science and Engineering, and Music. Minh-Chau currently works in the UCF Biomaterials for Tissue Engineering and Cancer Research Lab. She spent a summer conducting bioengineering research at Harvard University. In the future, she would like to pursue a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, and start her own company making affordable medical devices. Interview with Josephine Chau
Josephine Chau was born in Utah, then moved to Colorado at the age of six. She then moved back to Utah for college then moved to the east coast, where she now resides in Maryland. Both her parents are immigrants, her dad is from China and her mom is from Hong Kong. She is bilingual in Chinese and English. Josephine is married with one daughter. She has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Her career was in the information technology department at the University of Maryland. Oral History of Chau Nguyen
An oral history of Ms. Chau Nguyen, born in 1962 in Chau Doc, Vietnam. She migrated to Saigon in 1963 and grew up in Phu Nhuan District of Saigon. Her father worked for the US government, and her mother was a homemaker. She, along with her parents, both paternal grandparents, paternal aunt, and three siblings, left Vietnam on April 22, 1975 before the Fall of Saigon. After being processed in Camp Pendleton, they were sponsored by a Catholic church and settled in Anaheim, California, where she lives to this day. She received her B.S. in Biology from the University of California, Irvine in 1988. She went on to receive her doctorate in optometry from the University of Southern California in 1992. In 1994, she was a founding member of the Social Assistance Program for Viet Nam (SAP-VN), a yearly mobile health care project based in Garden Grove, California that provides free health and dental care to many poor villagers in Vietnam. She continues to lead the organization to this day.Recorded Digitall

An oral history with Chau Huyen Pham, born in Saigon, Vietnam on September 17, 1983. She discusses her childhood memories of South Vietnam and her experiences in school and in her community. She also discusses how her family left Vietnam by purchasing plane tickets from a private loan through a non-profit organization. An oral history with Ms. Chau Minh Quach, born on November 16, 1966 in Gia Dinh, Vietnam. She discusses her life in Vietnam and the effects of her dad being sent to a reeducation camp on the family. She also describes how her family escaped Vietnam by boat in 1980 when she was 13, arriving in Malaysia and staying at Pulau Bidong Refugee Camp for 6 months, and then going to Vancouver, Canada through a sponsorship. After moving to Southern California with her husband, she became a nail technician and esthetician.
