The Psychology of Qi Gong: A Qualitative Study
This article presents an in-depth, qualitative study, analyzing responses to focus-group interviews regarding individuals’ self-reported experiences and attitudes during Qi Gong practice. Semistructured interviews were conducted with three Qi Gong groups in order to collect research data. These data were transcribed verbatim and subjected to content and thematic analysis across and within groups. The analysis indicates extraordinary experiences of Qi Gong practitioners on various levels of bio-psycho-spiritual/energetic functioning. The results indicate how Qi Gong influences the complexity and multidimensionality of individuals’ health. In the discussion, the author compares and contrasts his results with other recently performed research. </jats:p
Complexity and retrograde analysis of the game Dou Shou Qi
Dou Shou Qi is a game in which players control a number of pieces, aiming to move one of these onto a certain square. We will present a proof showing that this game is PSPACE-hard. Furthermore, we have implemented an analyzing engine and created an endgame tablebase containing all configurations with up to four pieces. These are the first steps towards theoretically solving the game. Finally, we report on some interesting patterns which we found by analyzing the endgame tablebase

A reading of qi : being in a world of qi in contemporary Melbourne
This thesis begins with the author reflecting on his practice experience, as a traditional acupuncturist, through which the research question is posed. The research
represents a kind of cross-cultural encounter whereby the interpenetration of cultures and ideas alerts us to new and different ways on how knowledge is garnered and impacts on lived experience with reference to the Chinese medical idea of qi. Unlike the usual interpretation of a cross-cultural encounter, the cross-cultural meeting to which I refer is occurring in a local Australian setting, whereby ancient medical ideas and practices are being interpreted, applied and experienced.
Construed as a form of naturalistic inquiry and as a critique of the Western episteme, Chinese medical ideas and the worldview it presents provided the base from which this thesis emerges. Guided by contemporary interpretations of naturalistic inquiry, the thesis sets out to explore how Australian born and trained acupuncturists, working with Australians, reflect on their experience of and with qi. The thesis is premised on the idea that being in the world may be construed as qi manifest. At the same time, qi offers a praxis for apprehending our being in the world
[[alternative]]The development and industrialization of apple cultivation in Qi-Xia, China
[[abstract]]This study focused on the concept of agricultural system as a research structure, so the researcher personally went to Mainland China for field investigaion and had chosen the Qi-Xia city as a study area to understand apple production. The purposes of this thesis were to study the transformation process of specialized agriculture areas, causes of agro-economic activity, industrializing development, and the effects of globalization on apple production.
The Huang-Jia-Zhuang in Qi-Xia was selected as a case study, using agricultural system to analyze the importation of Fuji apple specie for Qi-Xia farmers and the utilization of land with regards to the apples. The farmers’ cognition and expertise in cultivating Fuji apples, their economic condition, government’s reservation policy for cultivated-land, and the quality of the soil were basic considerations to initiate the farmers to apply different strategic processes in importing Fuji apples. Thus, there were three different types of apples cultivation, including advanced, transitory, and retarded types in the study area.
All of these had shaped the specialized Fuji area, and changed the land use types. As a result, there were altering farmland scenic views and farmers’life styles, and creating a commercial site in the village. In addition, there were causing swift increase in production and upgrading quality, and marking a new step into the development of apple transportation’s complete system.
After China’s trade liberation and entry into the WTO, local and international corporations have increased their investment on Qi-Xia’s apple industry as well as increased cooperation with the farmers. Thus, there were producing high quality Fuji apples for export, shaping an unique operational process, and allowing the Qi-Xia to represent a more complete specialized apple-cultivated area.

Effect of Dietary Supplementation on the Growth and Immunity of Fish and Shellfish—2nd Edition
With the development of the aquatic feed industry, new feedstuff and feed additives have been developed, but their roles in the growth and immunity of different aquaculture animals remain to be examined. In addition to essential nutrients, feedstuffs and feed additives must contain some biologically active constituents to support fish growth and wellness. However, some also have adverse effects on growth performance through introducting undesirable materials. This Special Issue focuses on the application of feedstuffs and additives in aquaculture species’ growth and immunity, especially recently developed feedstuff and additives
