On the relationships among queue lengths at arrival, departure, and random epochs in the discrete-time queue with D-BMAP arrivals
We consider finite- and infinite-capacity queues with discrete-time batch Markovian arrival processes (D-BMAP) under the assumption of the Late Arrival System with Delayed Access as well as the Early Arrival System. Using simple arguments such as the balance equation, "rate in=rate out", we derive relationships among the stationary queue lengths at arrival, at departure, and at random epochs. Such relationships hold for a broad class of discrete-time queues with D-BMAP arrivals. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved

[[alternative]]Intending Outcast? --North Korean Self-Forming and Separation of the Position of Outcast in N.K.-U.S.-China-Strategic Triangle
[[abstract]]Because of North Korea unique location, both in the academic and reality areas, usually use the strategic triangle theory to analysis the North Korea-U.S.-China's relationship. Strategy triangle theory regards the “outcast” is the worst status in all kinds of model. To be a part of the strategic triangle, states always prevent outcast status. However, since Kim Jongun assume the leader of N.K., he took provocative measures to U.S., China and other nearby countries, such as missile launches, nuclear tests and so on. The relationship with China or U.S. turns bad because of the N.K. provocative behaviors, not only promotes China and U.S. coordinate N.K. sanction, but also brings N.K. to be the “intending”outcast in the strategic triangle. Out of the world expectation, N.K. begins to improve the relationship with Russia, South Korea, U.S., and China. From the end of 2017 to the mid-2019 of this writing, the nuclear weapon which make N.K.to be outcast is being the key chip on the negotiation table, and it status in the strategic triangle promoting

“Even the hardest stone can fracture:” Racialization, Reproductive Control, and the Wake of Slavery in N.K. Jemisin’s The Fifth Season
When the science fiction and fantasy novel The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin won the Hugo Award in 2016, Jemisin became the first Black author to win the prestigious literary science fiction award. A departure from similar novels at the time, The Fifth Season has a strong understanding of systems of oppression and how they are built and upheld. This thesis argues that The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin follows the conventions of the neo-slave/meta-slave narrative to explore themes of racialization and reproductive control under enslavement and oppression. I conduct a feminist literary of the novel, focusing on these themes, and ground my analysis firmly in Black feminist thought and the study of Black science fiction. Using authors such as Dorothy E. Roberts and Angela Y. Davis, I explore the ways in which Black women in America had their reproduction controlled for dehumanization and profit, as well as how they resisted such control. Using this historical context to read The Fifth Season, I demonstrate how Jemisin’s neo-/meta-slave narrative incorporates these themes of reproductive control and racialization, using the genre of science fiction to re-discover and re-imagine the personal experiences of enslaved women lost to history
The Cause of the Asian Crisis: Fundamentals of Contagion?
This paper examines empirically whether the Asian crisis was caused by fundamentals or contagion. We find that overvaluation of exchange rates and deterioration in fundamentals (a fragile financial sector and low foreign reserves) both contributed significantly to the occurrence of the crisis. Capital inflows and current accounts, however, do not have explanatory power. Neither pure contagion, represented by macroeconomic similarity, nor trade linkage is significant, but financial linkage does serve as a contagion channel through which a crisis is transmitted across countries
