Data and code for: Variational Graph Author Topic Modeling
This is the tensorflow implementation of KDD-2022 paper "Variational Graph Author Topic Modeling" by Delvin Ce Zhang and Hady W. Lauw.
VGATM is a Graph Neural Network model that extracts interpretable topics for documents with authors and venues. Topics of documents then fulfill document classification, citation prediction, etc.

Two-tier channel estimation aided near-capacity MIMO transceivers relying on norm-based joint transmit and receive antenna selection
We propose a norm-based joint transmit and receive antenna selection (NBJTRAS) aided near-capacity multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system relying on the assistance of a novel two-tier channel estimation scheme. Specifically, a rough estimate of the full MIMO channel is first generated using a low-complexity, low-training-overhead minimum mean square error based channel estimator, which relies on reusing a modest number of radio frequency (RF) chains. NBJTRAS is then carried out based on this initial full MIMO channel estimate. The NBJTRAS aided MIMO system is capable of significantly outperforming conventional MIMO systems equipped with the same modest number of RF chains, while dispensing with the idealised simplifying assumption of having perfectly known channel state information (CSI). Moreover, the initial subset channel estimate associated with the selected subset MIMO channel matrix is then used for activating a powerful semi-blind joint channel estimation and turbo detector-decoder, in which the channel estimate is refined by a novel block-of-bits selection based soft-decision aided channel estimator (BBSB-SDACE) embedded in the iterative detection and decoding process. The joint channel estimation and turbo detection-decoding scheme operating with the aid of the proposed BBSB-SDACE channel estimator is capable of approaching the performance of the near-capacity maximumlikelihood (ML) turbo transceiver associated with perfect CSI. This is achieved without increasing the complexity of the ML turbo detection and decoding process

An enhanced author name dataset for PubMed/MEDLINE

The incompleteness of author names is a well-known issue in the MEDLINE database. It was since 2002, the full author name has been systematically indexed in MEDLINE. Although many full author names have been added to MEDLINE, we still found a significant number of abbreviated names in papers published after 2002.

Here we built an enhanced author name dataset for MEDLINE, called EAN, achieved by linking the whole PubMed to other large literature databases and conducting a large-scale name comparison and restoration with obtained multi-sources author names. Our evaluation shows that more than 90% of author names in EAN are complete as compared to the ratio of ~60% in MEDLINE.

Magnetic hardening of Nd-Ce-Fe-B films with high Ce concentration
Partial substitution of Ce in Nd-Fe-B magnets is a feasible way to cope with the crisis of Nd and Dy in Nd-Fe-B production and reduce the cost of Nd-Fe-B magnets. In the present paper, the Nd-Ce-Fe-B films with high performance have been successfully fabricated by using an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) magnetron sputtering system. High magnetic performance with a ceorcivity of 13.3 kOe, a remanence of 11.4 kGs and a maximum energy product of 29.4 GMOe is obtained with the Ce substitution for more than 50 wt.% Nd without Dy addition. The high coercivity and (BH) max achieved in this work are much larger than those of previously reported Nd-Ce-Fe-B magnets with the same Ce concentration. The phase structure, microstructure and coercivity mechanism are analyzed. The coercivity mechanism is determined to be mainly dominated by nucleation. Based on the microstructure observation and coercivity mechanism analysis, the fine and well separated grains, smooth grain surface, small and less inhomogeneities should be responsible for the high coercivity. Our results encourage the further improvement of magnetic properties in Ce magnets including the bulk material with high Ce concentration
