Organizzazione e critica dell'ideologia. Scienza, pratica e lotta politica nel marxismo di Raniero Panzieri

    No full text
Panzieri was never a member of the Italian Communist Party and cannot be properly considered a philosopher. However, when one seeks to delve deeper into the philosophical and political debate that developed within the political and trade union organizations of the labor movement, it is impossible not to engage with his political trajectory and his theoretical legacy. In his criticisms of the Soviet experience, in his reflections on the relationship between politics and culture during the years of “Mondo operaio”, and in his essays for “Quaderni rossi”, Panzieri develops his growing eccentricity in relation to the tradition of historicist Marxism, which was hegemonic in communist culture. Highlighting the elements of this heterodoxy allows us to identify some of the reasons behind the crisis that would unfold between the Pci and the movements of the 1960s and 1970s

    Peripheral neuropathy in styrene-exposed workers

Background The toxicity of styrene on the peripheral nervous system is still debated. Cases The paper presents two cases of peripheral sensorimotor neuropathy in styrene-exposed workers. Exposure, evaluated by biological monitoring, ranged between 100 and 150% of the current limits proposed by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGM). The subjects complained of leg weakness and numbness, cramps, and paresthesia. Electrophysiology revealed a moderate peripheral sensorimotor neuropathy of a demyelinating type. Color-vision testing showed a subclinical deficit. Common inherited and acquired causes of peripheral neuropathy and dyschromatopsia other than styrene were ruled out by personal history, medical examination, laboratory data, and chest X-ray. Conclusions The results suggest that long-term occupational exposure to environmental levels of styrene that are equal, or slightly above, the ACGM limits can induce a clinical form of peripheral neuropathy and a subclinical impairment of color vision. As a consequence, a careful reappraisal of the real preventive meaning of the current ACGM occupational limit for styrene, at least on an individual basis, is needed

Sbloccare le “verità interne”. Filosofia e politica rivoluzionaria in Franco Rodano

    No full text
The essay reconstructs some aspects of Franco Rodano’s thought, in an attempt to highlight his effort to inhabit both his Catholic and Communist affiliations as a dual and biunivocal critique of both traditions. A critique that is expressed in the action of unlocking and activating the internal truths inherent in both belongings – experienced by Rodano within a dynamic and restless “double”, but never dialectical – whose logic and epistemology is analysed. Particular attention is paid to the concept of ideal causation, Rodano’s theoretical attempt to safeguard, through a critique of historical materialism that is expressed as its rescue, the concepts of revolution and continuity of historical processuality

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

[Clinical evaluation of a posterior photopolymerizing composite: results 4 years after application]

    No full text
: The aim of this study was to examine clinical results of class I and class II composite restorations of forty two posterior teeth, considering pulpal vitality, dentinal sensitivity, marginal integrity, contact areas, color, gingival irritation and secondary decay. The restorations were evaluated over a four-year period. The results are considered satisfactory both from a chemical-physical and biological point of view. The Authors wish to outline the importance to improve the operative technique to minimize the disadvantages of these materials and to obtain better results. The Authors propose to carry out a later control to confirm these results
