Women drivers by applications: precariousness, violence, and resistance in everyday work
No full textO trabalho por plataforma não é algo novo, ao contrário, é o resultado de um desenvolvimento histórico que envolve capitalismo rentista, influência da ideologia do Vale do Silício, constante coleta de dados e aplicação de princípios da gestão neoliberal. Associadas com narrativas como o empreendedorismo e empresário-de-si-mesmos, passam a pseudo promessa de maior flexibilidade de horários e autonomia para trabalhar quando, onde e por quanto tempo quiser, para atrair e explorar a força de trabalho de milhares de trabalhadoras e trabalhadores. O objeto de estudo desta pesquisa são as mulheres motoristas por aplicativos e seu objetivo é compreender as práticas cotidianas de resistência destas trabalhadoras e como enfrentam e ressignificam as violências sofridas no cotidiano do trabalho. Metodologicamente, trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória, descritiva, de caráter qualitativo e netnográfico, que contou com a participação de cinco motoristas e utilizou como instrumentos para a coleta de dados um questionário sociodemográfico, um roteiro para entrevista semiestruturada e o acompanhamento de cinco grupos mistos de Whatsapp por um ano. O presente estudo, justifica-se a partir da análise de dados disponibilizados nos meios digitais e científicos que indicam o aumento das violências sofridas por esta classe trabalhadora e que expõe o oposto do prometido pelas plataformas para as motoristas mulheres. Os achados desta pesquisa corroboraram com as experiências cotidianas relatadas por essas trabalhadoras em páginas na internet, redes sociais e grupos fechados no WhatsApp que sinalizam que além de pagamentos extremamente baixos e extensas e desgastantes jornadas de trabalho, elas são vítimas diariamente de violências como: assalto; violência verbal; física; moral; psicológica e assédio sexual, sendo esta última, a violência sofrida inúmeras vezes por todas as participantes da pesquisa.Platform work is not something new, on the contrary, it is the result of a historical development that involves rentier capitalism, the influence of the Silicon Valley ideology, the constant data collection, and the application of neoliberal management principles. Associated with narratives such as entrepreneurship and self-entrepreneur, they convey the pseudo promise of greater flexibility in working hours and autonomy to work when, where, and for as long as you want, to attract and exploit the workforce of thousands of male and female workers. The object of study of this research is female app drivers and its objective is to understand the daily resistance practices of these workers and how they face and give new meaning to the violence they suffer in their daily work lives. Methodologically, this is an exploratory, descriptive, qualitative, and netnographic research involving the participation of five drivers and used as instruments for data collection a sociodemographic questionnaire, a script for a semi-structured interview, and the monitoring of five mixed WhatsApp groups for a year. The present study is justified based on the analysis of data available in digital and scientific media that indicate the increase in violence suffered by this working class and that exposes the opposite of what the platforms promise to female drivers. The findings of this research corroborate the daily experiences reported by these workers on websites, social networks, and closed groups on WhatsApp, which indicate that in addition to meager payments and long and exhausting working hours, they are daily victims of violence such as assault; verbal violence; physical; moral; psychological and sexual harassment, the latter being violence suffered countless times by all researched participants.Não recebi financiament
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
