La deshumanización del hombre: reflexiones de Leon R. Kass sobre la clonación humana
No full textRecent developments in genetic engineering continue to generate profound ethical, legal and social questions over the impact they may have on individuals, as well as on the human species as a whole. The bioethics expert Leon R. Kass has done much research on the consequences of these advances, particularly regarding human cloning. Although human cloning has been banned in most countries, there remain complex issues that still need to be addressed. This paper examines Leon Kass` thoughts on the cloning of human beings, which if happened, would depersonalize human reproduction, exercise significant influence over future generations and provoke human degradation.El incesante desarrollo de la ingeniería genética en el ámbito mundial genera profundos cuestionamientos éticos, legales y sociales por las consecuencias que estas investigaciones pueden tener tanto en los individuos en lo particular, como en el futuro de la especie humana en general. El experto en bioética Leon R. Kass ha realizado un profundo estudio de los alcances de esas experimentaciones, y particularmente con respecto a la clonación humana, advirtiendo situaciones complejas que no se deben pasar por alto. Background data for: Effects of freestream turbulence on the wakes of circular and square cylinders
No full textThis data set contains the planar instantaneous velocity fields from particle image velocimetry measurements, as well as additional CTA measurements, for the experiments described in the article titled "Effects of freestream turbulence on the wakes of circular and square cylinders" (doi:https://doi.org/10.1103/scln-td8t).
The experiments were conducted in a wind tunnel at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The setup includes an active grid to control freestream conditions. To analyze the evolution of the flow, the wake behind the cylinders were captured up to 20 cylinder diameters downstream using two laser sheets and four cameras. Three grid sequences, with an additional reference case where the grid is removed, are used to generate four inflow conditions, where the freestream turbulence intensities varied between 1.1% to 13.8%. Extreme care was taken to align the dual laser sheets, and careful preprocessing was implemented to ensure high accuracy and minimal uncertainties.

Henri Matisse Drawing: An Eye-Hand Interaction Study Based on Archival Film.
No full textHenri Matisse (1869-1954) attached fundamental importance to his drawings, in particular to the famous Themes et Variations series. These were accomplished following a precise method, starting with arduous life studies and evolving into brilliant spontaneous drawings. A 1946 archival documentary film showing the artist drawing four portraits of his grandson Gerard was shot in such a way as to allow the present author to undertake a detailed eye-hand interaction analysis of the drawing process.
It was found that Matisse’s temporal working rhythm and use of motor memory resulted in a more direct approach than that used by most painters. Taken together with remarks the artist made throughout his lifetime, these results provide a cognitive interpretation of his drawing method

El cuento como estrategia pedagógica para el fortalecimiento de las competencias pro-ambientales en los estudiantes de quinto grado en la Institución Educativa Departamental Luz Marina Caballero
No full textLa relación del individuo con la naturaleza siempre ha resultado foco de interés en los diferentes escenarios de interacción, y desde los últimos años, se ha intensificado la búsqueda de respuestas frente a las causas y consecuencias que permean las actitudes del individuo frente al ambiente y como éste sopesa los niveles de impacto, especialmente desde la sostenibilidad. En atención a lo expuesto, es la educación, como herramienta poderosa de transformación social, que ha tomado un papel protagónico para intervenir en las necesidades ambientales presentes y promover en las generaciones futuras la motivación para promover el equilibrio natural del planeta, limitando al mismo tiempo el impacto de las actividades humanas, desde la adquisición de competencias y habilidades que promuevan conductas responsablemente ecológicas. Es por ello por lo que la presente investigación tiene como objetivo diseñar una estrategia pedagógica basada en el cuento para el fortalecimiento de las competencias proambientales, cuya teoría de sustento el modelo de Competencia proambiental de Corral Verdugo (2002) y desde el cuento del autor Cortázar (1976). Se desarrolló bajo un enfoque empirista, paradigma positivista, de tipo cuantitativo, empleando un método inductivo-deductivo con un alcance explicativo. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron 2 cuestionarios tipo Likert y la población fue seleccionada de la IED Luz Marina caballero con una muestra de estudiantes de 5 grado de la básica primaria y docentes de la Institución. las principales conclusiones del estudio, indican que aunque el tema de la educación ambiental al interior de las IED ha sido un trabajo que ha ido tomando fuerza con el pasar de los años, siguen existiendo carencias especialmente asociadas a las variables psicológicas internas especialmente en términos de motivos, creencias y conocimientos ambientales, es por ello que se presenta la estrategia pedagógica basada en el cuento como herramienta transversal para la adquisición de competencias que anule la brecha destructiva persona- ambienteThe relationship of the individual with nature has always been a focus of interest in different scenarios of interaction, and in recent years, the search for answers to the causes and consequences that permeate the attitudes of the individual towards the environment and how it weighs the levels of impact has intensified, especially from the perspective of sustainability. In view of the above, education, as a powerful tool for social transformation, has taken a leading role to intervene in the present environmental needs and promote in future generations the motivation to promote the natural balance of the planet, while limiting the impact of human activities, from the acquisition of skills and abilities that promote ecologically responsible behaviors. That is why the present research aims to design a pedagogical strategy based on the story for the strengthening of pro-environmental competences, whose theory is based on the model of pro-environmental competence of Corral Verdugo (2002) and from the story of the author Cortázar (1976). It was developed under an empiricist approach, positivist paradigm, quantitative type, using an inductive-deductive method with an explanatory scope. The instruments used were two Likert-type questionnaires and the population were selected from the IED Luz Marina Caballero with a sample of 5th grade elementary school students and teachers of the Institution. Acoustic Emissions of Semi-Permeable Trailing Edge Serrations
No full textThe trailing edge of a NACA 0018 airfoil is modified through the attachment of serrations with different degrees of permeability. Acoustic beamforming is used to inspect the turbulent boundary layer-trailing edge noise emissions from the unmodified and serrated trailing edges. Different freestream velocities and angles of attack are investigated. The serration permeability is prescribed by having slits cut into the solid surface of the serrations in two different configurations. The results indicate that a certain benefit in noise reduction is obtained from a mixed solid/slitted configuration, while a fully slitted configuration loses most of the noise reduction performance.AerodynamicsAircraft Noise and Climate EffectsWind Energ
