No full textCharles Carty Salmon (1860–1917), medical practitioner and second Speaker of the House of Representatives,was born on 27 July 1860 at Amherst, a gold rush town near Maryborough, Victoria, sixth child of English-bornparents Frederick Browne Salmon, storekeeper, and his wife, Susannah Carty, née Arnell. Carty attendedScotch College, Melbourne, before his uncle gave him a position at his tobacco importing and manufacturingcompany, Dudgeon & Arnell. Such work had little appeal and, in 1886, he enrolled in medicine at the Universityof Melbourne. During his studies, he honed his public speaking skills at Trinity College’s Dialectic Society. Aftertwo years, he proceeded to Scotland, where in 1891 he completed his medical studies. While in Scotland, hebegan attending political meetings, finding himself drawn to conservatism. No full textAt the Chino Institute for Men (CIM) state prison, notorious for overcrowding conditions, the local authorities are moving toward an illogical pivot from \u27containment\u27 to \u27encounter\u27 in dealing with the health of both prisoners and staff in terms of the looming threat that Covid-19 poses. Soon, CIM officials intend to transfer inmates who have been living among other inmates who have tested positive for the virus into one of the dormitories where everyone thus far has tested negative and had been quarantined for two weeks. On May 10th the facility halted the movement of all prisoners to isolate those infected and control the virus and impede cross-contamination. They plan to reverse this course of action which puts lives at risk

She has recently been appointed Director of Creative Development at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, an innovative exhibition venue located at Federation Square in Melbourne, due to open later this year. She is currently Chair of the Visual Arts/Crafts Board of the Australia Council. From 1991 to 2001 she was Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and the numerous exhibitions she has curated have received substantial critical acclaim. She is the author of many articles, catalogue essays and edited collections, and books on artists Marion Borgelt and Eugene Carchesio. Mapping the Discipline of the Olympic Games An Author-Cocitation Analysis
No full textThe authors conducted an author cocitation analysis on prominent authors writing about the Olympics during the 1990s. Author cocitation is an established bibliometric technique that can be used to measure the relative similarities of topics written about by the cited authors. This enables a visual representation of the “intellectual space” of the discipline, in this case the Olympics, to be created for the period under review. So core and peripheral research areas are identified, along with their major contributors. The representation appears as a two-dimensional cluster-enhanced map. Subject expertise was then applied to the results to place labels on the generated clusters of authors and their topics
