Dimensions of Circularity for Healthy Metabolisms and Spaces
In this first chapter of the Book “Regenerative Territories. Dimensions of Circularity for Healthy Metabolisms”, the relation between circularity and space is explored. The main focus is the development over time, and in particular the way how spatial planning and strategies respond to new unpredictable urgencies and opportunities related with territorial metabolisms. In relation to space and time, 5 grand rules are explored as necessary to implement the transition towards Circularity: (1) The Circular Economy paradigm shift requires a socio-ecological perspective and looking beyond boundaries; (2) Circular Economy is based on systems thinking and territorial metabolism; (3) a Circular Economy calls for a renewed approach to the public domain and stakeholder involvement; (4) amplifying the definition of Circular Economy with the inclusion of wastescapes; and (5) Planning the Circular Economy as an open collaborative system. The paradigm shift of contemporary planning towards circularity is aimed to facilitate the capacity of cities to be adaptive and flexible to the speeding up of the biggest changes in the present-day society. Therefore, the relation between the various spatial scales is strictly interlinked to the time scales, as well as to the metabolic processes and Life Cycles of Territories. In this perspective, the “existing city” is a non-negotiable common heritage, the result of a “selective accumulation” of material and immaterial traces produced by the slow and progressive anthropic work in the territory. Contemporary spatial planning looks beyond boundaries. This concerns both the physical boundaries between areas or countries, both the boundaries of the various scale levels of solutions, of the interrelated networks, of the public space and, particularly, of their reciprocity. It induces the scrutinization of the underlying social needs and the finding of instruments that allow the spatial planning and renewed infrastructure to fit the changing social objectives such as sustainability and liveability. The territory of the Circular Economy is the city, as a complex and multidimensional organism. However, the most problematic field for experimenting with “circular planning” is the peri-urban territory consisting of urbanized areas, crossed by differentiated phenomena of settlement expansion beyond the limits of the countryside, which identifies rural and open space, traditionally coinciding with the limits of the city. A circular planning for the regeneration of the peri-urban identifies the waste spaces, the decay of the territory, the obsolescence and end of life of buildings, functions and urban parts now inadequate, namely wasted landscapes (wastescapes). The latter are both the result of metabolic transformations of the territory and generator of prospects and potential for rebalancing the material welfare of the city.Environmental Technology and Desig
Through a biographical approach and extensive use of sources from the Ugo Gregoretti Study Center in Pontelandolfo, this research sheds light on the life and works of an eclectic artist whose significance has been largely overlooked. The findings of the analysis reveal an artistically multifaceted profile, characterized by a deep sensitivity to irony and a marked inclination to express his artistic vision through a variety of media. Gregoretti emerges as an author with extraordinary versatility, capable of spanning different genres and modes of expression while maintaining consistent originality in each of his works. A fundamental aspect of the research is the absence of in-depth studies dedicated to Gregoretti, despite his significant impact on the Italian artistic and cultural landscape. This thesis fills this gap, providing a comprehensive analysis of his career and his contribution to the development of art and entertainment in Italy. In this way, the research not only unveils a neglected figure but also sheds new light on the cultural and artistic dynamics of the country, enriching the overall understanding of its evolutio

Dante's Comedy : a life's work. Notes on the poem's composition and publication
When we consider its macrotextual solidity, it is easy to forget that Dante’s Comedy
was initially conceived as a “trilogy” of cantiche, and was never published in its entirety by its author. Delving into the problem of the Comedy’s composition and early circulation, as suggested by the extant documentary evidence and related chronological issues, the article attempts to sum up recent proposals on these questions. Attention is paid both to internal historical references or allusions and various types of external evidence for establishing the cvhronology of the first two cantiche
The aim of Italian legislator, with the Law No 119 of 15 October 2013, was to issue a new act on violence against women on the basis of a supposed emergency of this phenomenon. This was in order to devote particular attention to the extreme cruelty of the crimes committed against them, a topic which has rightly occupied the Italian collective debate.
The author questions where the real emergency is, noting that if this emergency is in fact due to an aggravation of such a kind of violent crimes rather than to the fact that this phenomenon is “ontologically” existing
This essay focuses on pattern of development of Internet in Italy. For this purpose the author analyses the results obtained by different models of public policies: a first one, based on wide autonomy and introduced at local level, and a second one promoted at central level. The analysis deals with two different case studies regarding respectively reti civiche – Italian web pages promoted by local institutions – and a new system of evaluation for academic research projects. The main finding shows how in latecomer country such as Italy there are better possibilities to get good results in the diffusion of new technologies through the activity of a central institution

This article deals with the origins and development of the neo-fascist party “Italian Social Movement”. In a bottom-up perspective, it presents the case study of Tuscany from the end of World War II to the national party congress held at Viareggio in 1954.
Analysing sources from local and national archives, the author outlines the history of the party in the context of a so-called «red» region. He focuses in particular on recon structing the emergence of the party and its peripheral structure, as well as drawing up an initial profile of the middle cadres and militant. Finally, he outlines the party’s relations with its flanking associations. Starting from the regional dimension, the paper aims to establish a link with national trends and problems, highlighting the party’s capacity to adapt to the regional specificities of the Tuscan reality, as well as the similarities with the more general Italian trends
