Application of the environmental product declaration as a tool to assess and reduce office fit-out environmental impact
No full textLAUREA MAGISTRALELe Dichiarazioni Ambientali di Prodotto (EPD), possono essere utilizzate sia in ambito business-to-business che business-to-consumer, consentendo il confronto dell’impatto ambientale di diversi prodotti. Questa tesi esplora l'applicazione delle EPD come strumento business-to-consumer per la riduzione dell'impatto ambientale degli elementi coinvolti in un progetto di Fit-Out tramite una procedura di analisi e modifica del computo metrico. La prima parte della procedura consiste nella raccolta dei computi metrici relativi al progetto di Office Fit-Out di una compagnia assicurativa situata nel cuore di Milano. Per ogni elemento costitutivo del progetto, destinato alla rimozione al termine del periodo contrattuale, è stata svolta la ricerca delle relative dichiarazioni ambientali di prodotto. Successivamente, i dati sono stati analizzati con l'obiettivo di individuare le categorie di elementi con il maggiore impatto in termini di kg CO2 equiv. emessa in fase di produzione del prodotto, riportati dall’indicatore “Global Warming Potential A1-3”. I risultati riferiti a 1 m2 di Fit-Out, mostrano come il 40% circa delle emissioni di CO2 totali emesse per produrre gli elementi sono attribuibili a due prodotti: il pavimento sopraelevato (Access Floor) e una lastra di cartongesso standard (Gypsum Board Type B). Successivamente, l’utilizzo dell’EPD come strumento di comparabilità tra i prodotti è stato perseguito al fine di comprendere se la scelta di un prodotto alternativo avrebbe potuto ridurre l'impatto del Fit-Out. La valutazione della confrontabilità delle EPD è stata condotta sulla base dei criteri indicati nella norma ISO 14025 (sezione 6.7.2) e dallo studio di Moré et al. (2022), che suddivide gli elementi chiave per la confrontabilità in due categorie: “cruciali” e “da confrontare con cautela”.
Le riflessioni finali discutono i limiti e i vantaggi dell'uso, da parte del consumer finale, delle EPD come strumento di comparazione tra prodotti differenti. Inoltre, grazie all’analisi dei prodotti a computo, il lavoro propone una riflessione rispetto agli elementi costitutivi del Fit-Out sui quali una più attenta scelta di prodotto in fase di progettazione potrebbe portare ampi benefici in termini di riduzione dell’impatto ambientale del progetto.Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) can be used in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer contexts, enabling the comparison of the environmental impact of different products. The thesis explores the application of EPDs as a business-to-consumer tool for reducing the environmental impact of elements involved in a Fit-Out project through a procedure of analysis and modification of the Bill of Quantities.
The first part of the procedure involves collecting the bills of quantities related to the Office Fit-Out project of an insurance company located in the heart of Milan. For each component of the project, intended for removal at the end of the contractual period, the corresponding Environmental Product Declarations were collected. Subsequently, the data were analyzed to identify the categories of elements with the highest impact in terms of kg CO2 equivalent related to the production stage, as reported by the “Global Warming Potential A1-3” indicator. The results, referring to 1 m2 of Fit-Out, show that approximately 40% of the total CO2 emissions associated with producing the elements can be attributed to two products: the Access Floor and a standard Gypsum Board (Type B). Following this, the use of EPDs as a comparability tool between products was pursued to understand whether selecting an alternative product could reduce the impact of the Fit-Out. The assessment of EPD comparability was conducted based on the criteria outlined in ISO 14025 (section 6.7.2) and the study by Moré et al. (2022), which classifies key elements for comparability into two categories: "crucial" and "to be compared with caution."
The final reflections discuss the limitations and advantages of using EPDs as a product comparison tool from a consumer perspective. Moreover, through the analysis of the products listed in the Bill of Quantities, this work offers insights into the key Fit-Out components where a more careful product selection during the design phase could lead to significant benefits in terms of reducing the project’s environmental impact
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
