Group Heterogeneity and Cooperation on the Geographical Indication Regulations: The Case of the 'Prosciutto di Parma Consortium'
This paper explores the impact of individual group members’ heterogeneous characteristics, resources and strategies on their level of cooperation on defining the future regulation of Geographical Indications (GIs). By following a “grounded theory” approach, this study combines qualitative evidence from an in-depth study on the “Prosciutto di Parma” Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Consortium with quantitative evidence based on data collected from 94 Consortium members and analysed through path modelling. Results confirm that (1) “Prosciutto di Parma” Consortium members have highly and increasingly heterogeneous characteristics, assets and strategies and that (2) higher heterogeneity negatively affects members’ agreement on the future level of restrictiveness of “Prosciutto di Parma” PDO as GI and therefore the effectiveness of the collective action. Overall, these findings give light to another internal barrier that may threaten producers’ opportunity of profiting from the use of established and highly recognized GIs. Managerial and policy implications for both “Prosciutto di Parma” Consortium members and other groups governing established and highly recognized GIs are drawn
The study of Dantean prophetism and of its relationship with the “she-wolf” (that is greed-lust for power), is carried out through the analysis of the most intensely prophetic moments of the poem: from the eschatological, political and social aspects of the background, through the intense reminiscences from Ezekiel and Apocalypse re-contextualized in Purgatory XIX and XX, to the great eschatological-political visions of Purgatory XXXII and XXXIII, to the quiet and sorrowful hope expressed in Beatrice's last cantos. Dante's prophetic cry is inseparable from the different images of the poet inside the Comedy : the pilgrim poet (the agens); the scribe poet, assigned to reproduce the experiences lived by the pilgrim; the author, that is the prophet poet, who also says “I” and intervenes from the present of the writing to teach the reader and execrate the vices of led astray Christianity. Then Dante's position is examined between the ancient auctores- poets and the auctoritas due to the holy books of the Old and New Testament
The aim of this study is to investigate the reception of Ambrose in the writings of three Ukrainian baroque preachers, viz. Ioannikij Galjatovs’kyj, Antonij Radyvylovs’kyj and Dimitrij Rostovskij. The method that has been adopted in the presentation of the results of our survey can be outlined as follows. First, we focused on the thematic aspects of the process of reception, which generally fall into two categories: 1. Exegetical themes, based on motives drawn from the Scriptures; 2. Philosophical-doctrinal themes. Furthermore, for all the writers which we examined we tried to determine whether an author made a direct or indirect usage of Ambrose’s oeuvre. Indirect use is generally to be ascribed to the influence of either exegetic Comments on the Bible, such as those of Cornelius A Lapide and Didacus de Baeza, or of emblematic literature produced in the West, such as Hemannus Hugo’s Pia desideria (1624).
A second question to be addressed is how the intellectual and ecclesiastical context of the Ukrainian lands, whose distinctive features were pluriconfessionalism and the close ties to Western Renaissance and Baroque, influenced our authors in the way they made use of Ambrose, especially as far as the relationship between Orthodoxy and Catholicism is concerned
Lake Garda as a paradigmatic case study of ongoing ecological changes in the large lakes south of the Alps
The largest (62-368 km2) and deepest (251-410 m) lakes south of the Alps (Garda, Maggiore, Como and Iseo) are one of the most important lake districts in Europe. In the last decades, these lakes underwent important changes, which include the warming of the water column; the tendency to oligotrophication or stabilization of the concentrations of total phosphorus (TP); the introduction of new cyanobacteria, i.e. the establishment of the water-bloom forming Dolichospermum lemmermannii since the 1990s, and the very last discovery of Tychonema bourrellyi, a species producing anatoxin-a (ATX, a neurotoxin). These changes will be critically described considering in detail the results obtained in the Long-Term Ecological Research station of Lake Garda. From 1991 to 2015, the long-term increase of the mean annual water temperatures in the mixolimnion (0-50 m) showed a positive and significant trend (>0.025 °C yr-1). The warming was confirmed also considering the satellite measurements of temperature of the surface waters since the 1980s. The deep hypolimnion ( 20 μg P/L), followed by a decrease (17-18 μg P/L). These changes concurred to affect the ecological features of the lake. The first surface blooms of D. lemmermannii in Lake Garda were recorded in the 1990s. The introduction (in the 1960s) and expansion of this species was linked to the incipient eutrophication and to the lake warming, which is a general positive factor for the development of gas-vacuolated cyanobacteria. Nevertheless, while the impact of Dolichospermum was limited to the development of summer surface “oligotrophic” blooms, recent investigations showed that Tychonema was able to develop with biomasses as high as those of P. rubescens. These findings induce to change an important paradigm in the phytoplankton ecology of the southern perialpine lakes. In fact, until now, Planktothrix was the dominant cyanobacterium, and the only producer of microcystins (MCs, hepatotoxins). Conversely, many strains of Tychonema isolated in Lake Garda and in the other large perialpine lakes tested positive for the presence of the genes encoding ATX, and for the production of ATX. Since 2009, the increasing role of Tychonema was confirmed by the increase of ATX and the decrease of MCs. The causes will be discussed considering in particular the interactions between changes in the trophic level and lake warming
Efficacy of Oxfendazole and fenbendazole against tortoise (Testudo hermanni) oxyurids
Abstract Thirty-six tortoises (Testudo hermanni) with
naturally acquired oxyurids infections were used to assess
the anthelmintic efficacy of oxfendazole (Dolthene;
Merial) and fenbendazole (Panacur; Hoechst Roussel
Vet). Animals were randomly assigned to three groups (A,
B, and C) based on sex and weight. Animals in group A
(seven males and six females) were orally treated with
oxfendazole at dose rate of 66 mg/kg, group B animals (nine
males and eight females) were orally treated with fenbendazole
at dose rate of 100 mg/kg, and group C animals (three
males and three females) were not treated and served as
controls. All animals were individually stabled in plexiglas
boxes under controlled conditions of temperature, humidity,
and light beginning 7 days pretreatment and continuing for
the duration of the trial. Individual tortoises feces were
examined daily by the McMaster technique and drugs
efficacy was assessed by the fecal eggs count reduction
(FECR) test. Both drugs showed 100% of FECR. However,
oxfendazole reached this level 12 days after treatment,
whereas 31 days after treatment were necessary to obtain the
same stable result with fenbendazole. The two drugs were
well tolerated by all the animals and no adverse reactions
were observed after treatment
The contribution considers the development of the possibility of existence of vulgar poets and authors (beside and in competition with the classics, mostly Latin) in Dante's works prior to the Comedy.
Then it argues the reasons why Dante, in the Comedy, declares himself a poet but he never calls himself an author (such is particularly Virgil)
Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository 'You share, we take care!' - Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Housing Institutions & Governanc
A Review of "Housing wealth and welfare", By Caroline Dewilde and Richard Ronald
Book review: Housing wealth and welfare, By Caroline Dewilde and Richard Ronald, Cheltenham, Edward Elgar Publishing, 2017, ISBN 978 78536 095 4.This is a very interesting edited volume comprising an introduction chapter reflecting on so-called housing asset-based welfare and nine chapters written by a nice selection of authors. It is a more than worthwhile joint effort of two excellent ERC laurates who have both been working on the topic for years which is demonstrated in the very comprehensive overview of the state of the art in housing wealth and welfare. They explain different models across time and across Europe: some models are more familialised, relying on family capital, while others are more financialised, relying on mortgages. The introduction is followed by a multi-angle, multi-country collection of well-written chapters. And last but not least, there is an epilogue by John Doling, ‘the father’ of housing asset-based welfare.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository 'You share, we take care!' - Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.OLD Housing System
