    No full text
On the basis of a substantial body of archival documents of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the little-known publications, the author has restored laborious work of professor of St. Petersburg University Vasiliy Dmitrievich Smirnov who collected, organized and preserved in the central archival repositories sources for the history of the Crimean Khanate. The author has reconstructed the main events in his life and his activities in the Imperial Public Library related to the concentration in this store of the Crimean Tatar documents (article also contains a short list of his main works). Not limited to the literary sources of Turkey and Russia, Vasiliy Dmitrievich repeatedly worked in the libraries of Budapest, Vienna, London, and Paris. In the 1880’s, he continued to develop the theme of his doctoral thesis and combined literary studies and work in the archives with archaeological researches in the Crimea. The author has analyzed the process of creating of the largest work on the history of the Crimean Khanate, which remains hitherto an unrivaled. V.D. Smirnov managed to summarize Turkish sources (medieval Ottoman and Crimean “chronicles”, most of which have not yet been translated) and historiography. This work continues to constitute a historiographical interest in the present. He widely covered, in the first place, the political history of the Crimean Khanate. The author have reviewed the research trip of V.D. Smirnov to the Crimea, his work in local archives, and communication with experts in the Crimean Tatar and Ottoman history. The author has considered the epistolary heritage of the scholar and, on this basis, discovered his academic contacts with leading researchers of Crimea of that time. The author found that he corresponded with such researchers as A.I. Markevich, N.A. Sultan Krym Giray, Z.A. Firkovich, S.M. Shapshal. To V.D. Smirnov belong a comprehensive source study on the history of medieval Turkey and its vassal, the Crimean Khanate

Yartsev V.D. Scientific Research Institute of Eye Diseases, Moscow The article considers historical aspects of topical application of heparin in ophthalmology, it provides the description of anti-inflammatory action mechanism of heparin. The study describes in detail the indications for application of heparin ointment or heparin eye-drops in mono- or complex-therapy of dry eye syndrome, traumatic and burn keratitis, in some types of keratopathy. The experience of Russian and foreign researchers is analyzed (51 source in total). The author comes to the conclusion that topical use of heparin is pathogenically justified in the treatment of different inflammatory, dystrophic and degenerative conditions of ocular surface. Special attention is given to the treatment of patients with corneal burn. Disinfectant properties of heparin were found to be useful for etiotropic treatment of the patients with conjunctivitis or keratitis in mono- or combined therapy. The new drug forms of heparin, such as ocular ointment and eye drops, enable to choose the dose of the drug individually and accurately for the patients with different pathology of ocular surface, thus personifying the treatment. Improving banks’ operating efficiency with corporate clients

    No full text
The author studies the recent changes in the operating conditions of commercial banks regarding servicing corporate clients. The aim of the study is to find ways in the current conditions to change the approaches of banks to doing business with corporate clients to get more profit. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study is the scientific works by foreign scientists and experts on improving the efficiency of banking organizations. The author used the methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis of scientific publications, regulatory and legal sources, retrospective statistical data and analytical materials of well-known consulting companies. As a result, the author identified areas for improving the internal banking processes: deeper analysis of the client’s activities and the industry where they work; high speed of processing client data without requiring to submit the same documents each time; personalization of the offer to the client of the service according to products, price and other conditions that will attract them to develop their business with this bank; development of financial services by the bank that will help the client to direct more funds and attention to their core business. The author concludes that introducing new approaches in cooperation with companies allows banks not only to solve the issues of increasing the profitability of corporate business, but also to help bring the return on capital invested by banks’ shareholders closer to the cost of capital, which is an important guideline for investors when choosing investment objects. © Smirnov V.D., 202

Voxelwise rs-fMRI representation learning: A non-linear variational approach

    No full text
Resting-state fMRI (rs-fMRI) has become an important imaging modality and is commonly used to study intrinsic brain networks. These networks can be obtained by decomposing rs-fMRI data into components, using independent component analysis (ICA). Recently, these ICA components have been used as inputs for neural networks to learn complex relations between the intrinsic networks of the brain and mental disorders or demographic variables. Instead of training a non-linear classifier on these linearly decomposed components, this work asks whether unsupervised representation learning can lead to linearly separable representations for multiple downstream tasks. We propose to apply non-linear representation learning to voxelwise rs-fMRI data. Learning the non-linear representations is done using two versions of a variational autoencoder (VAE). The first version is a vanilla VAE with 3D residual blocks in both its encoder and decoder. The second version is based on the identifiable VAE and uses a time-dependent prior. The models train to reconstruct the original input data from latent variables it infers. Three predictive models then evaluate the predictive power of the latent variables on an age regression, a sex classification, and a schizophrenia classification task. Each of the predictive models performs predictions for each of the three tasks. The predictive models are a support vector machine (SVM), a k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) model, and a long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network. We show that our method performs exceptionally well on the age regression and sex classification tasks without any supervision. These results imply that VAEs can model predictive variations in their latent spaces for demographic variables. The models, however, do not do well on the schizophrenia classification task, even when the models are pretrained. Despite the lower performance on the schizophrenia classification task, the overall results are encouraging and pave the way for future work on voxelwise representation learning.Electrical Engineering | Embedded SystemsBiomedical Engineerin

Kristallisatie bij kalanderen van polymere tweefasensystemen

    No full text
