    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Diseño de un prototipo educativo para la enseñanza de las matemáticas en niños con edades comprendidas entre 4 y 8 años que presentan discalculia secundaria

    Este artículo presenta los resultados del proyecto que tiene como objetivo el desarrollo de un prototipo que permite reforzar los números, la suma, la resta y la multiplicación a niños en edades comprendidas entre 4 y 8 años. La aplicación presentada está en fase de prototipo, lo que permite implementar ajustes con el fin de obtener un mejor resultado. Para realizar la aplicación se utilizó el entorno de desarrollo Android Studio, la cual integra un login donde cada usuario registrado es guardado en una base de datos programada con el gestor de base de datos MySQL, que se conecta desde un servidor gratuito con el fin  de ser remoto, de esta manera la persona encargada del niño pueda observar su evolución, ya que va a requerir de su ayuda para ingresar a la aplicación, la cual también cuenta con un juego al final de cada nivel para que la app no sea constante

    The parsimonious progress towards the digital transformation of education has been one of the edges of the educational crisis experienced in Latin America, whose reality became more evident with the abrupt pandemic situation where the conditions of inequality and poverty take on a greater impact harmful to the less favored social classes, the human right to education being flagrantly violated. In the case of higher education, this problem is exacerbated by the bias of particular interests, a traditionalist governance, rigid curricula, teachers with little or no training in pedagogies with the use of technology, and students with minimal or no opportunities to access a computer. As a conclusion we can indicate that the contribution made by professionals in computer science and engineering is abysmal, but no effort will be enough if students are not allowed access to information and communication technologies in an equitable way, declaring this as a violation of first generation constitutional rights such as equality and others such as access to quality education. Against this background, will the digital transformation be able to support universities in the resilient action they must adopt to safeguard engineering education or will it increase the gap during pandemic and post-pandemic?El progreso hacia la transformación digital de la educación, ha sido una de las aristas de la crisis educativa vivida en América Latina, cuya realidad se hizo más evidente con la abrupta situación de pandemia dondelas condiciones de desigualdad y pobreza, cobran un mayor impacto nocivo en las clases sociales menos favorecidas, siendo flagrantemente vulnerado el derecho humano a la educación. En el caso de la educaciónsuperior esta problemática se agudiza con el sesgo de intereses particulares, una gobernanza tradicionalista, currículos rígidos, docentes sin o poca formación sobre pedagogías con uso de la tecnología y estudiantescon mínimas o nulas oportunidades de acceso a un computador y a internet. Como conclusión podemos indicar que el aporte que hace los profesionales de las ciencias computacionales y la ingeniería es abismal,pero ningún esfuerzo será suficiente sino se permite el acceso a los estudiantes de forma equitativa a las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones, declarando esto como una violación a los derechosconstitucionales de primera generación como la igualdad y otros como el acceso a una educación de calidad. Ante este panorama, ¿la transformación digital respaldará la educación en ingeniería frente a pandemiay post-pandemia?O avanço na transformação digital da educação tem sido uma das pontas da crise educacional vivida na América Latina, cuja realidade se tornou mais evidente com a abrupta situação de pandemia em queas condições de desigualdade e pobreza têm maior impacto prejudicial. classes sociais, o direito humano à educação sendo flagrantemente violado.     Redes neuronales artificiales y análisis de datos de tráfico en el corredor vial Zipaquirá-Palenque

    Shows a synthesis of artificial neural networks (ANN), with emphasis on a network architecture developed in Matlab® software for traffic prediction in the Zipaquirá-Palenque road corridor. The parameters of Law 787 of 2002 (Fees, tariffs and tolls in the transportation infrastructure in charge of the Colombian Nation) and theoretical requirements for the construction of ANNs were taken into account. The work shows the results of the training based on data collected in governmental pages and the implementation of the model to estimate the vehicular flow in said corridor, as well as the accuracy of the approximations obtained.El presente trabajo muestra una síntesis de las redes neuronales artificiales (RNA), haciendo énfasis en una arquitectura de red elaborada en el software de Matlab® para la predicción de tráfico en el corredor vial Zipaquirá-Palenque. Es de aclarar que se tiene en cuenta parámetros de la ley 787 de 2002 (Tasas, tarifas y peajes en la infraestructura de transporte a cargo de la Nación Colombiana) y requisitos teóricos para la construcción de las RNA. El trabajo muestra los resultados del entrenamiento basado en datos recopilados en páginas gubernamentales y la implementación del modelo para estimar el flujo vehicular en dicho corredor, así como la precisión de las aproximaciones obtenidas

    The process is presented to arrive at the implementation of a functional IoT prototype that determines the feasibility of installing a Chilean-type fog catcher in the municipality of Chiquinquirá in the department of Boyacá, starting from the planning of the research project with the use of the methodology of the logical framework, which allowed establishing the necessary activities to meet the general objective, in the same way, the process of design and construction of the system is detailed using free software and hardware such as arduino, blender, raspberry, raspbian, linux and node-red, In addition to the use of communication protocols such as MQTT and Mosquitto that allow the effective communication of information between the sensors and the system dashboard, likewise, the design of the physical plant is carried out in 3d and the integration of the sensors with the itself, the assembly of the system and the capture of data that determine if the installation is viable in a certain site was effectively achieved. installation, saving the values ​​obtained in a node-network database of the water catchment, taking into account variables such as wind direction and speed, temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure, these values ​​are also backed up in an account of ubidots that allows to see in real time and remotely the data of each sensor. It is concluded that the prototype meets the purpose of determining whether or not it is feasible to install a Chilean-type fog catcher in a given site, this allows defining whether or not a large-scale investment is made.Se presenta el proceso para llegar a la implementación de un prototipo funcional IoT que determine la viabilidad de instalación de un atrapanieblas tipo chileno en el municipio de Chiquinquirá del departamento de Boyacá, partiendo de la planificación del proyecto de investigación con el uso de la metodología del marco lógico, que permitió establecer las actividades necesarias para cumplir con el objetivo general, de igual manera, se detalla el proceso de diseño y construcción del sistema empleando software y hardware libre como arduino, blender, raspberry, raspbian, linux y node-red, además del uso de protocolos de comunicación como MQTT y Mosquitto que permiten la comunicación efectiva de información entre los sensores y el dashboard del sistema, así mismo, se realiza el diseño de la planta física en 3d y se observa la integración de los sensores con la misma, se logró de forma efectiva el montaje del sistema y la captura de datos que determinan si en determinado sitio es viable la instalación, guardando los valores obtenidos en una base de datos en node-red de la captación de agua, teniendo en cuenta las variables como la dirección y velocidad del viento, temperatura, humedad relativa y presión atmosférica, estos valores también están respaldados en una cuenta de ubidots que permite ver en tiempo real y de forma remota los datos de cada sensor. Se concluye que el prototipo cumple con la finalidad de determinar si es viable o no la instalación de un atrapanieblas tipo chileno en un determinado sitio, esto permite definir si se realiza o no una inversión a gran escala

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
