VALUTAZIONE DELLA RESISTENZA IN SITU DEI CALCESTRUZZI STRUTTURALI
No full textLa memoria riguarda la valutazione della resistenza in situ dei calcestruzzi e riveste notevole importanza per giudicare la sicurezza e la durabilità delle strutture in cemento armato.
Essa riporta alcuni criteri di valutazione della resistenza in situ dei calcestruzzi strutturali che è possibile determinare a posteriori attraverso prove di compressione su provini cilindrici ricavati da carote estratte dalle strutture da esaminare.
Si evidenziano i principali fattori che influenzano i risultati delle prove di laboratorio e come questi vadano interpretati per la determinazione più attendibile della resistenza in situ dell’opera.
Con riferimento ad indagini riguardanti opere realizzate in Sicilia nell’ultimo quarantennio, si espongono i criteri adottati durante il corso di accertamenti, eseguiti nell’ambito di un importante incidente probatorio, per interpretare i risultati delle prove di compressione su campioni estratti da carote e vengono discussi i fattori correttivi che intervengono per una corretta determinazione della resistenza in opera.
Le prove di compressione sono state eseguite presso l’Università di Palermo, utilizzando una macchina universale Zwick/Roell/Z600 da 600 kN di classe 0,5, nel rispetto della norma UNI EN 12504-1:2002.
Il valor medio della resistenza del calcestruzzo in opera (definita come resistenza strutturale) è in genere inferiore al valor medio della resistenza dei prelievi in fase di getto, costipati a rifiuto e maturati in condizioni di laboratorio (definita come resistenza potenziale).
Le modalità di determinazione della resistenza strutturale hanno come riferimento normativo le UNI EN 12504-1:2002, UNI EN 12504-2:2001, UNI EN 12504-3:2005, UNI EN 12504-4:2005 nonché le Linee Guida per la messa in opera del calcestruzzo strutturale e per la valutazione delle caratteristiche meccaniche del calcestruzzo pubblicate dal Servizio Tecnico Centrale del Consiglio Superiore dei Lavori Pubblici.

Deep endometriosis with pericolic lymph node involvement: a case report and literature review
No full textDeep infiltrating endometriosis is an often-painful disorder affecting women during their reproductive years that usually involves the structures of the pelvis and frequently the gastrointestinal tract. We present the case of a 37-year-old female patient with an endometrial growth on the sigmoid colon wall causing pain, diarrhea and the presence of blood in the feces. The histology of the removed specimen also revealed the involvement of the utero-vesical fold, the recto-vaginal septum and a pericolic lymph node, which are all quite uncommon findings. No full textL'articolo indaga due diverse strategie di diserzione rappresentate in due romanzi di guerra: I parenti del sud di Carlo Montella e Going After Cacciato di Tim O’Brien. Nelle due opere analizzate la diserzione sembra essere collegata al conflitto che fa da sfondo al romanzo. Nel libro di Montella,il protagonista, ancora obnubilato dalle dottrine tautologiche fasciste, qualche settimana dopo l’armistizio di Cassibile decide di disertare e di fuggire nella villa di un’anziana parente, con lo scopo di rinsavire dall’ideologia del regime. Nel romanzo di O’Brien, invece, la fuga messa in scena dall’autore sembra avere gli stessi tratti grotteschi e assurdi del conflitto in cui è stato catapultato il protagonista, la Guerra del Vietnam

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
No full textWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
The Hepatologist in the Haematologist Field: a Rare Cause of Non-Cirrhotic Portal Hypertension
No full textAn 81 year-old gentleman was admitted to the emergency department of
our hospital due to hematemesis and melena, and endoscopic evidence of
portal hypertension. Due to presence of ascites and esophageal varices he was
referred to gastroenterology care. His history included systemic mastocytosis,
and biochemistry showed marked cholestasis with normal liver function tests.
Clinical work-up was not consistent with liver disease-related portal hypertension,
but rather hepatic involvement of systemic mastocytosis and the development
of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. This clinical case highlights that although
systemic mastocytosis is uncommon, the subsequent development of liver
involvement and non-cirrhotic portal hypertension are complications of the
disease that need always be considere
