    A Notarization System for Water Quality Parameters

    The thrust on research and development of blockchain technologies is closely related to the possibility of broadening the horizons of its use. In this regard, it is worthwhile to look into the possibilities of digitally notarizing data and documents on blockchain as a guarantee for the involved parties. In a context of distributed, reliable, innovative and intelligent monitoring, it is important to be able to take advantage of this technology to make the data relating to the analyses carried out on the water to be introduced into the city water network permanent, secure and unalterable. This paper describes in detail the development of a blockchain-based system for the notarization of water quality data, produced by sensing devices disseminated in the water plant and connected to the central administration system. The proposed system provides for the automatic notarization into a permissioned blockchain of a daily report of water quality parameters through a notarization oracle and for manual notarization. The proposed system is an example of how private and state-owned companies may boost their reputation by providing a service to the community

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Testare sul campo la Least Cost Path Analysis: riflessioni intorno ai paesaggi dell’età del Bronzo della Sardegna centro-meridionale (Italia)

    Da circa dieci anni questo team di ricerca sperimenta tecniche di analisi percettiva spaziale e visuale mediante GIS sui paesaggi nuragici (Bronzo Medio e Recente) di diverse aree della Sardegna meridionale. Nel tempo sono state effettuate diverse campagne sul campo sulle manifestazioni monumentali prodotte dalle comunità nuragiche; torri, fortezze, villaggi, tombe di giganti e pozzi sacri suggeriscono una spiccata attenzione alla manifestazione di un messaggio di potenza, forza e monumentalità da parte del gruppo umano studiato. Un aspetto spesso sottolineato da queste ricerche è il rapporto dei monumenti con la mobilità e con i percorsi e i punti strategici del territorio, spesso verificato attraverso abbinamenti di diverse LCPA che attraversano il territorio collegando diversi pattern di punti. Tuttavia, la reale efficienza dei percorsi previsti dal GIS non è mai stata testata direttamente sul campo. Il lavoro presenta il risultato delle analisi di campagna del nostro gruppo di archeologi sui percorsi risultanti dall'analisi GIS nei territori della Marmilla: vengono forniti tempi di percorrenza, dispendio energetico e la reale possibilità di un percorso di attraversare effettivamente un dato territorio. L'utilizzo degli LCPA è ancora da esplorare, ma resta comunque uno strumento valido per la ricerca territoriale se si conduce un'analisi slegata da preconcetti e con un quadro di evidenza olistico.For about ten years this research team has been experimenting with techniques of spatial and visual perceptual analysis using GIS on the Nuragic landscapes (Middle and Late Bronze Age) of different areas of southern Sardinia. Over time, various field campaigns have been developed on the monumental manifestations produced by the Nuragic communities; towers, fortresses, villages, tombs of giants and sacred wells suggest a marked attention to the display of a message of power, strength and monumentality on the part of the human group studied. An aspect often emphasized by these researches is the relationship of monuments with mobility and with the routes and strategic points of the territory, often verified through matches of different LCPAs that cross the territory by connecting different patterns of points. However, the real efficiency of the paths predicted by the GIS has never been directly tested on the ground. The paper presents the result of field analyzes by our group of archaeologists on the paths resulting from the GIS analysis in the Marmilla territories: travel times, energy expenditure and the real possibility of a path to actually cross a given territory are provided. Working with the LCPAs is still to be explored, however it remains a valid tool, if an analysis unrelated to preconceptions and with a holistic evidence framework is carried out, for territorial research
