Il F.S.N. della Regione Siciliana ex art. 38 Statuto per la perequazione infrastrutturale - Una ricerca empirica sulle sue potenzialità inattuate
The aim of the paper is to depict the development over time of F.S.N. as item of the financial statements of Sicily that crystallizes the duty of the Italian State to fill in the infrastructural gap that Sicily has historically experienced respect to the rest of the country. This item might be seen as a provisional State subsidy since theoretically the gap should have been closed at the end and at the same time the Sicilian Region would have ended up with be more able to provide for itself. Hence, the paper aims at assessing to what extent the article no. 38 of the Statute of Sicily - as rule that has made this capital grant formally established - has been applied, by comparing how much it has been actually assigned by the State with how much it should have been granted in line with the spirit of the rule, during the period 1990-2015

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Acral malignant melanoma and striated palmoplantar keratoderma (Brunauer-Fohs-Siemens syndrome): a fortuitous association?
BACKGROUND: Striated palmoplantar keratoderma or Brunauer-Fohs-Siemens syndrome is a very rare, focal, nonepidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma with autosomal inheritance. Unlike other palmoplantar keratodermas, no association with visceral or skin cancer has ever been reported.
OBJECTIVE: We report a case of malignant melanoma arising in the hyperkeratotic lesions on the right heel of a patient with striated palmoplantar keratoderma. The lesion was completely excised; our patient also underwent sentinel lymph node biopsy and then was treated with high-dose interferon adjuvant therapy.
METHODS: Sentinel lymph node biopsy incision was made in elliptical fashion, long enough to harvest a full-thickness skin graft to cover the wide local excision defect. The skin graft was defatted by sharp dissection. Several perforations were made in graft and it was secured in place with sutures and bolster dressing.
RESULTS: At follow-up, the grafted skin showed hyperkeratotic changes but no local or systemic signs of the disease was observed.
CONCLUSION: The association between striated palmoplantar keratoderma and acral melanoma is discussed
An unusual case of tinea capitis due to Trichophyton soudanense
A case of tinea capitis due to Trichophyton soudanense observed in a 4-year-old African girl is described. The infection manifested with diffuse pustular lesions of the scalp. Diagnosis was based on culture. Genome study by single primer PCR fingerprinting was also performed. A younger sister, aged 10 months, was the healthy carrier of the mycet
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
