eAtlas du Valais
No full textL’e-Atlas du Valais est un atlas interactif, dynamique et collaboratif du Canton du Valais. Il reprend les éléments essentiels de l’ouvrage "Le Valais, Cartoscopie d’un espace régional" (Cosinschi 1994; voir aussi Cosinschi 1995) en renouvelant les informations statistiques, en ouvrant la conception à des champs nouveaux, et en utilisant un environnement innovant de visualisation et de consultation de l’information. Les données spatialement référencées sont mises à disposition par l'intermédiaire d'un système de cartographie interactive sur Internet. L'e-Atlas interactif se présente sous deux formes : 1) un contenu textuel et d’images statiques présentés dans des pages web ainsi que des liens vers des cartes de l’e-Atlas, et 2) sous forme d’atlas interactifs, l’un socio-économique, l’autre environnemental, qui permettent de consulter des cartes ou de générer vos propres cartes à différents maillages géographiques. Plusieurs centaines d’indicateurs sont à disposition.LASIGCEA

Pris comme traceurs de l’activité régionale, l’analyse de leurs configurations spatiales permet une évaluation pouvant être considérée comme une mesure de l’efficacité différentielle du système socio-spatial valaisan. Get PDFIn his article Beat Contenders (Micheline, Sanders, Kupferberg) A. Robert Lee asks if we are in danger of too fixed a Beat canonization. That is, do the Usual Suspects—Ginsberg, Kerouac, and Burroughs, with Corso, Ferlinghetti, Cassady, and Snyder in the frame—assume too presiding a role? There is, for sure, rightly, increased recognition of Beat women writers and attention has been given to the Afro-Beat circuit and, indeed, to a wider multicultural roster to include Latino/a and Asian American authorship. Beat\u27s international reach has won its place, from the United Kingdom and Continental Europe to Japan and Australia. Even so, other voices invite their due. Lee gives context and a brief exploration of three voices, each Beat to the one extent or another although whose styling remains insistently their own: Jack Micheline (self-termed street poet for whose River of Red Wine Kerouac wrote a preface), Ed Sanders (classicist, musician, and author of Tales of Beatnik Glory), and Tuli Kupferberg (poet-musician, anarchist, and co-founder of the rock-satirical group The Fugs)

No full textUnder the referential of a ternary logic, with the two orthogonal concepts of information/signification, mediated by the third-included, the diagonal organizer of the cartographic communication, this article aims to cladify the pragmatical aspects of the map functionnality as a communication object. The interaction beween the meaning of its information and the information reciprocally contained in its signification, within a specified context and pertinence, implies a strong level of redundancy shared by producers and users of the map, a same system of scientific and ideological values to pass on the cartographic message. We are far from the objective cartographer who would fade away so to let the facts speaks "objectively" by themselves

No full textMaupassant's travel diary, miming the prit ries of a cruise's log-hook keeps the narrative adrift on a fantasy of fusion, itself encouraged by the movement — or the imaginary — of the sea. But Maupassant is careful to frame the story, an initial comment announces that nothing of interest can be derived from the diary, while a conclusion observes that nothing but vague daydreams have emerged. Thus the author both complies with his obligation to the reader and the editor by judging the narrator, and allows himself — and the reader ? — to drift along at the diary's invitation.Besnard Micheline. In order to synthesize hundreds of indicators included in inventories of personal estate and evaluate the degree of welbeing of families, the author proposes to construct a standard of living index which shows the main changes which took place during the 17th and 18th centuries, to measure the contrasts and the shifts between towns and country, and even to characterize specific behaviours of various human groups.
For this purpose, five lists of objects or characteristics were elaborated. Two of these lists bring together objects of daily life. Other lists concern comfort, luxury and civilisation, and merge less frequent objects indicating intellectual and artistic activities, which form a kind of superficiality.Micheline Baulant L'appréciation du niveau de vie. On s'est proposé, pour synthétiser les centaines d'indications contenues dans les inventaires mobiliers et évaluer le degré de bien-être des familles, de construire un indice du niveau de vie permettant de dégager les principaux changements survenus au cours des XVIF et XVIII° siècles, de mesurer les contrastes ou les décalages possibles entre ville et campagne, et même de caractériser les comportements spécifiques de divers groupes humains.
A cet effet, cinq listes d'objets ou de caractéristiques ont été dressées. Deux de ces listes rassemblent des objets destinés à l'usage quotidien. Les autres séries consacrées au confort, au luxe et à la civilisation regroupent, à côté d'objets moins répandus, des indications touchant aux activités intellectuelles et artistiques, et constituent une sorte de superflu.Baulant Micheline.
