    A New Twofold Cornacchia-Type Algorithm and Its Applications

    We focus on exploring more potential of Longa and Sica\u27s algorithm (ASIACRYPT 2012), which is an elaborate iterated Cornacchia algorithm that can compute short bases for 4-GLV decompositions. The algorithm consists of two sub-algorithms, the first one in the ring of integers Z\mathbb{Z} and the second one in the Gaussian integer ring Z[i]\mathbb{Z}[i]. We observe that Z[i]\mathbb{Z}[i] in the second sub-algorithm can be replaced by another Euclidean domain Z[ω]\mathbb{Z}[\omega] (ω=1+32)(\omega=\frac{-1+\sqrt{-3}}{2}). As a consequence, we design a new twofold Cornacchia-type algorithm with a theoretic upper bound of output Cn1/4C\cdot n^{1/4}, where C=3+321+r+sC=\frac{3+\sqrt{3}}{2}\sqrt{1+|r|+|s|} with small values r,sr, s given by the curves. The new twofold algorithm can be used to compute 44-GLV decompositions on two classes of curves. First it gives a new and unified method to compute all 44-GLV decompositions on jj-invariant 00 elliptic curves over Fp2\mathbb{F}_{p^2}. Second it can be used to compute the 44-GLV decomposition on the Jacobian of the hyperelliptic curve defined as C/Fp:y2=x6+ax3+b\mathcal{C}/\mathbb{F}_{p}:y^{2}=x^{6}+ax^{3}+b, which has an endomorphism ϕ\phi with the characteristic equation ϕ2+ϕ+1=0\phi^2+\phi+1=0 (hence Z[ϕ]=Z[ω]\mathbb{Z}[\phi]=\mathbb{Z}[\omega]). As far as we know, none of the previous algorithms can be used to compute the 44-GLV decomposition on the latter class of curves

    The canal of Nuck is a residue of the peritoneal evagination that runs along the round ligament through the inguinal canal in women. Its partial or total patency can lead to a cystic lymphangioma (CL). CL of the canal of Nuck in an adult female is a rare entity and its clinical diagnosis can be difficult or incorrect. Ultrasonography can be useful to identify the nature of groin masses. A potential CL of the canal of Nuck should always be considered in the differential diagnosis of inguinal swelling in adult females. Even if it is possible to consider conservative treatment, the optimal therapeutic option is surgical excision of the cystic mass and closure of the inguinal ring by an anterior approach. In this study, we report a case series offour women affected by a cyst of the canal of Nuck to underline the surgical treatment's therapeutic role of this pathological condition and the importance of preliminary identification of lymphatic vessels with BPV (Blue Patent Violet) in order to prevent lymphatic injuries such as lymphorrea and lymphocele in the groin after surgery due to the disruption of inguinal lymph nodes and lymphatics

    Optical spectroscopy of SrWO4 : Nd3+ single crystals

    The optical properties of SrWO4 crystals doped with Nd3+ have been investigated at temperatures ranging from 10 to 300 K. The scheme of the energy levels up to 20 000 cm(-1) has been deduced from low temperature measurements and reproduced by theoretical calculations based on a parametric Hamiltonian including Coulombic, spin-orbit and crystal field terms. The spontaneous transition probabilities, the branching ratios and the radiative lifetime have been calculated in the framework of the Judd-Ofelt theory and compared with the experimental results for the F-4(3/2) emitting level. The optical bands are broadened because of crystal field inhomogeneities caused by charge compensation processes accompanying the substitution of Nd3+ for Sr2+. This fact and the high emission cross section values obtained for the emission from the F-4(3/2) multiplet indicate Nd:SrWO4 as a possible. active medium for tunable laser operation

    Gli Autori illustrano importanti aspetti della strategia farmacologica dopo cheratotomia sulla base delle nuove prospettive della ricerca farmacologica e delle modificate condizioni strutturali della cornea. Da questo punto di vista vengono considerate la idroliposubilità del farmaco, la variazione del dosaggio della preparazione standard in base alla sua concentrazione ed al volume, un controllo del pH lacrimale in base al pK della sostanza utilizzata, le varie modalità di somministrazione ed infine il ricorso ad associazioni farmacologiche al fine di limitarne gli effetti collaterali e potenziarne l'azione. Viene infine valutata la possibilità dello studio del loro effetto mediante la RMN a bassa risoluzione

    2 micron lasers with fuoride crystals: researcher and development

    In the present work we present a review of the 2 micron laser based on fluoride crystals. We will provide a brief description of the theoretical aspects of rare earth ions embedded in insulating crystals, with particular attention to the advantages in using fluoride single crystals and the growth technique. The core article is represented by an overall survey of the laser and spectroscopic properties: Sections 4 and 6 will present the spectroscopic properties of the Tm, Ho and Tm, respectively, explained in the frame of the rate equation formalism and we will report a summary of the literature results. Finally Sections 5 and 7 will describe the state-of-the-art for the two systems
